It has an excellent Henry Fond, great Terrance Hill, epic score from the legend Ennio and a story that is engaging, enjoyable and immersive. The mixture is excellent here and while it is not as amazing as the masterpiece “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” it is still one of my favorites. In hindsight it is a bit surprising that the mixture works well and that the seriousness and humor do not harm the other. Some even claim it is a sort of parody for spaghetti western but I would disagree. The story follows the aging gunslinger Jack Beauregard who wants to retire peacefully. He is one of the last of his circle of friends alive and it is rare for a gunslinger like him to get old enough for retirement. However this will not be easy. Meanwhile there is a man who calls himself Nobody who is a huge fan of Jack Beauregard and wants to get him a final feat worth of becoming a legend before retirement. This is the set up of the story. A western comedy is not my favorite genre but this is amazing. Both lead characters work well in the story. I like the ideas, twists and conclusion. The climax is one of my favorite scenes in movies especially with the score. The humor is of cause a good bonus. Lets continue with the actors. Jack Beauregard is played by Henry Fonda. He is a legendary actor and fully delivers his character. There is not one scene in the movie where he did not nail the role. A flawless performance. Then we have Terence Hill as Nobody. He plays his role as lightning fast gunslinger that is sometimes a bit goofy but cunning and in need of a shower;-). It is one of his signature roles. He might not be a Henry Fonda but also delivers his role truly excellent. Both work well together. The rest of the cast has supporting roles as the movie is centered around the two main characters but they give all a good performance that enhances the movie. This is a fitting transition to the score by Ennio Morricone. He is a legendary composer and many say that he can tell whole stories with his music alone. I truly enjoy the score. “The wild horde” is my favorite but “My name is nobody”, “My fault” and “With best Wishes” are great too. One of my favorite scores in western genre. It might not be important but the costumes and sets are convincing and look good. The duels and shot outs are well filmed and each scene works. I will praise the whole team, the director Tonino Valerii and Sergio Leone for the idea it is based on. Overall this is a favorite of mine. It has a great and enjoyable story with two great lead characters. Still my gold standard for western comedies but also something that is fitting for nearly everyone. Expand
