Not only is that a bold advertisement, but it also becomes problematic for the film itself because it's just not like that, not even close.
And I mention it because it really doesn't have that complexity, and because that also tells you very clearly from where it's getting its inspirations.

The tone, the atmosphere, the coldness. All taken from the psychopaths, creeps and weirdos textbook. I hate to use the definition that way, but in film, this is the standard for these stories.

You could say that predictability wouldn't be an issue, but unfortunately for Mosquito State it's not enough to be unsettling, you also need to be engaging.
Long story short, this is a boring film. Well done for the most part, but boring.… Expand
