Most Americans will be unfamiliar with the late British writer Kyril Bonfiglioli’s Mortdecai novels, on which this Johnny Depp comedy is based; still, no reference point is required to come to the conclusion this is a rotten movie all around. Read full review

Mortdecai’s farcical mechanics are actually well worked out, which is a credit to Koepp, an ace Hollywood screenwriter (Jurassic Park, 2002’s Spider-Man) who directed the fun late-summer sleeper Premium Rush two years ago. It’s just the jokes that are astonishingly unfunny. Read full review

I went into Mortdecai expecting a terrible film, but I left the theater with a smile on my face. This film made me laugh more then I thought and it was actually enjoyable. The critics hated this film, and I usually agree with critics, but I had a lot of fun with Mortdecai. The critics hated this film, and I usually agree with critics, but I had a lot of fun with Mortdecai. Johnny Deep gives his best performance since Pirates of the Caribbean, and his mustache is a lot less annoying then I thought it would be prior to seeing this film. I still don't understand the R rating, since there are only 2 f-words in the film, and no nudity. I would love to see a sequel since it is my understanding that the book has sequels, so hopefully it'll make money this weekend. I think it deserves a watch if you want to be entertained.… Expand

loved the cast, positive vibes, good laugh for those who want to! smart lines, witty dialogues, if you are seeking to have fun with silly dispositions then you will love it. can understand why so many bad comments.
