I could watch this movie again and again and again. One of the most charming ensemble casts I've ever seen. And one of the few films that really "gets" the Italian family right.

Unfunny, unromantic, unrealistic, and all around annoying, Moonstruck is a complete and utter failure in my book. Cher is annoying in the lead role, Danny Aiello is alright but his character is literally an idiot, leaving Nicolas Cage as theUnfunny, unromantic, unrealistic, and all around annoying, Moonstruck is a complete and utter failure in my book. Cher is annoying in the lead role, Danny Aiello is alright but his character is literally an idiot, leaving Nicolas Cage as the only good part of the film (though his character is quick to get attached, eh?). The film feels as if it was made by some teenager romanticizing about love, who has no idea what love really is. I would know because I am not too far removed from those days myself. Completely lacking any substance, believable romance, and jokes, Moonstruck falls flat from the very beginning and the longer it goes on, the more and more you get annoyed by its very presence. A shame really because Cage is great here, so he wasted a good performance on a terrible film, which I guess is pretty characteristic of him.… Expand

I found this movie to be most charming, eloquently written, and just all around a silly romantic comedy. The banter between the characters portraying an Italian family couldn't have been more accurately. It wasn't good, it was spectacular, wonderful. You'll love the performances, but Cher's, hers was the best. The music is beautiful, and you'll laugh every moment.

A really lovely movie about love, falling in love, marriage, who to marry and why, and why you just can't fight it when it happens to you. Cher was great, she should have won an Oscar. I don't have a lot of DVDs but this one is in my collection.

total "comfort" film. enjoyable for beginning to end, all while enjoying each character. Cinematography, soundtrack and storyline are exceptional. And exceptionally fun.

Moonstruck is a character driven romantic drama about a dysfunctional family and the dysfunctional love that runs on its tree with a hint of humor served on everyone's plate. It is one of those rare rom-com drama that has surprisingly got everything right with a balanced equation with heavy teams on each side. The conversations are flirty and notoriously hilarious with gigs that are so smoothly created, that leaves the audience in an awe of its mellow sweetness. Ticking for almost 100 minutes, the family has a more-than-welcome agenda that leaves the viewers satisfied and hungry for more simultaneously. The chemistry among each individual character varies with a wide range and still somehow managed to create the anticipated environment of a family reunion to the point where you feel part of this chaos. It is rich on technical aspects like background score, sound department and amazing melodies that are hummed throughout the course of it. It is well edited with a stunning cinematography and colourful visuals that adds the cherry on top of it all. The writing is sharp if not strong and adaptive, gripping and eerily follows a mutual theme whenever parallel tracks are going on; something that doesn't come often. Jewison; the director, is in his A game and doing some of his careers best work where his passion exceeds the hard work. Cher is confident and on the note with Cage supporting her decently but the show stealer would be Dukakis and not because she had stronger role to portray but she pulls it off without flinching even for a second. Argumentative conversations, hilarious tiny moments installed and good old romantic tale are the high points of the feature that helps it make it to the major league. Moonstruck is something that strikes once and that'd be all which is what makes it poetic in its rawness that is utterly deep than it seems.… Expand

C'est neuneu et convenu mais encore plus con que venu et en tout cas fort mal venu avec par exemple Cher que nous ne chérissons certainement pas mais que nous abhorrons de toutes nos forces : déjà à cette époque, elle a la peau tendue comme un tambour. Et de toute façon, il s'agit d'une insupportable grognasse.

Le débutant Nicolas Cage est venu se ridiculiser dans le rôle du bellâtre de service pour la chère rombière et le scénario pondu par quelqu'un qui n'avait visiblement plus toute sa tête veut nous faire croire qu'il est le "frère" de Danny Aiello et qu'en plus, Nicolas est boulanger !

De toute façon, c'est tellement mou du bulbe qu'on ne tient pas juqu'à la fin à moins d'avoir des tendances fortement masochistes : cet Eclair de mes burnes, il faut tirer la chasse par dessus et puis c'est tout.… Expand

This is amusing enough if just to see Nicholas Cage as an ill tempered Italian American, who looks almost wolf-ish, indeed he references this at one point. I thought it was quite a farcical comedy. I thought it was quite a farcical comedy. Its amusing, quirky and entertaining enough to pass the time, certainly. I recognised one of the actors as being Martin Crane from the hit US sitcom Frasier. Yes this film is worth a watch - I wouldn't say its anything remarkable, or entirely memorable but its certainly an entertaining and easy watch, so I'd recommend it on that basis.… Expand
