Just as enjoyable as Searching. Left me confused for 100 minutes straight (in the best way possible).

After Mom disappears on a vacation to Colombia it's up to daughter to use numerous forms of technology to solve the case. This basically is a murder mystery in a screens-only format, like the previous compelling film from this duo Searching (my review). Since everything takes place on some kind of screen (computers, cell phones, etc.), it requires smart writing and creative editing. Like their last film, this whodunit would work without the concept, but it's even more interesting with it. The superb editing and innovative approaches to storytelling elevate this film into a smart, creative thriller. Expand

From the beginning to the finale, you'll be on the edge of your seat. There are constant turns, and the conclusion is not just unexpected but also surprisingly unanticipated. Don't worry, they kept a lot of the narrative under wraps, which I am extremely thrilled with. I was concerned that the trailer gave away a lot of the plot. You should absolutely watch this movie, in my opinion. It is a creative follow-up that has elements in common with Searching yet feels very different. It was a welcome surprise, and I'm eager to see it again soon! Expand

Good thing the actors/actresses are good looking because this movie is ridiculously stupid. Missing should have gone Missing.

I am in general a fan of this micro genre of storytelling, it it is kind of wildly implausible, it does kind of fit nicely with the times. I just don't think the last 30 holds up as well as the rest.

Shout out to Javi, have him be the star

For the most part, this is a worthy sequel that retains the great visuals and the compelling mystery of Searching (2018).

I do have a couple of gripes that make me enjoy it less than Searching (2018).

1. I find it hard to believe that the police wouldn't have access to the emails needed for the investigation.

2. Once the reveal happens, I question a lot of the overly complicated plan and the believability of it.

3. I also can't believe Javier has a 2.8 star out of 5 for his service. That guy is an MVP!

Just like Searching (2018), the mystery keeps you gripped with every twist and turn. It's a great mystery worth watching!

Missing follows most of the same story beats and structure as its predecessor "Searching". The movie does a good job of accurately depicting what it would look like on a laptop when trying to solve the case of a missing loved one. TheMissing follows most of the same story beats and structure as its predecessor "Searching". The movie does a good job of accurately depicting what it would look like on a laptop when trying to solve the case of a missing loved one. The performances are good, and helps deliver the more dramatic elements of the film and helps give more weight to a dramatic third act. There's constantly a great forward momentum the movie is going in, it gives a great sense of urgency to its audience and doesn't feel boring. The movie is just about as good as its predecessor, it's an evenly paced thriller that never wears out it's welcome. Expand

The characters and performances are excellent keeping you invested into these characters and hoping to see what will happen to them all the way in the end. The writing is phenomenal since seeing and hearing some things for the first time causes your head to initially brush it off since you've seen it plenty of times before only for it all to come back later on and make you see it from a completely different perspective the second time you watch it. The foreshadowing is excellent with again how it just uses everyday actions preventing you from thinking about it all too much but when it does come back, it feels so surprising and satisfying. Finally, the webcam perspective is a genuinely unique perspective as it allows you to see the world in a completely different point of view and this perspective will allow it to stay with you for years to come. Finally, the fact that the supposed main villain gets killed pretty late into the movie when there's still more gives you the feeling that there's a much bigger threat and there's more to these characters than you initially think and it keeps you invested no matter what. Overall, I absolutely recommend this movie if you enjoyed Searching and I can't wait to see Sony continue to expand this concept in the new future. Expand

This movie was incredibly lackluster, so I do not understand some of the rave reviews. If I wanted to watch someone typing this much, I'd just record myself writing a dissertation with screen record on.

Decent movie. I was pretty turned off by the format at first, but the store was intriguing enough I eventually forgot about my announce and just enjoyed a well-performed and written mystery thriller.
