No question this isToni Collette and Drew Barrymore play best friends since childhood, a relationship full of wild memories and special times. When one of them is diagnosed with cancer, it presents new challenges for them and their families. No question this is a chick flick, but the weepie component feels forced, making it fall short. Even though the impact of the disease is depicted in devastating detail, it's trying too hard for sympathy and sobs. The performances are engaging, the humorous repartee softens the setbacks and Catherine Hardwicke's direction is effective. It just lacks the dramatic punch that would have made it memorable. Expand

The director for this film is Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the original Twilight film so I can't say that my hopes were high even after being someone interested in the trailer. I would consider the cinematography similar to Twilight is this bland tone which was one of the downsides to the film because for the majority of the film its not gloomy and it has a lot of light, funny moments. Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore are both very good in this movie and their characters are very likeable. Their husbands played by Dominic Cooper and Paddy Considine were also great and they had some really funny moments between them. If you've seen the trailer for this movie you'd expect it to pull on your heart strings and it does, but if I movie makes you want to cry it doesn't make it perfect. There were parts of the movie that just felt a little less significant than the others and a little flat at times, but overall I consider this a pretty enjoyable watch. Especially if you love a heartbreaking film. Expand

Drew Barrymore and Toni Collete play best friends since childhood, they oppose life challenges. Milly (Collete) a mother of two, who's happy until her breast cancer diagnosis. American-born, British raised Jess (Barrymore) and her husband (Paddy Considine) have been dealing with infertility issues. The film is definitely a chick flick but director Catherine Hardwicke surprisingly directs this very properly and makes the script by Morwenna Banks be shiny also let Barrymore and Collette shine. This film is directed wonderfully despite the director's other films, two stunning performances by our two leads Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette. Grade A- Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Two Friends and a Cancer Death. Better than I expected. Death as subject matter is tough. What I liked about this is the absence of denial. Barrymore and Collete are amazing, as is Jackie Bisset in a supporting role. (I haven't seen Barrymore this good since Grey Gardens.) It's not Cries & Whispers, not an art film, but there's a collective effort to give this the ring of truth and there are light moments and the guys are good in it too. I usually don't recommend weepies but Miss You Already might surprise you, for being well made and brave. Expand

In a rare case when friendship comes before the family...

This is not like one of those you have already seen cancer themed film, there's two main characters and their two sets of struggles. They both are very close friends since childhood. When they grow up, one settles down comfortably in life, but fall seriously ill and another one struggles to build a family.

I think the film's strength was the development in every scene without wasting a bit. There's always something happens that keeps us alive. I expected the usual, but it gave me a different entertainment. In the movie everything was between two friends, even each had their own family to care about, this story concentrated what came between them and how they fought together.

Great direction, shot in wonderful places, but the actors were decent. They should have been better, especially Toni Collette. To me the sentiments were very weak knowing the theme belong to the tearjerkers. Initially you might think it is a female version of '50/50', almost it was, but tried to be a different with additional story expansion. Overall a good movie, little fun to watch, you might enjoy it, but I can't guarantee.

A remake of "Beaches", this time with problems of this time, infertility and breast cancer. This time it's the outgoing girl who gets sick, the quiet one who is the rock, probably more true to real life.

A film that lends itself to reconciliations and emotional manipulation but it has a nice feeling of realism thanks to the scenes in the hospital which does not make the disease something irrelevant.

The film isn't something spectacular but works fine with its elements and the good performances of its main characters Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore.
With this film's director Catherine Hardwicke gets a little back on track after her recent failures and offers her best work as a filmmaker since Lords of Dogtown.

As I said it's not great but it's a drama with good elements, enough to keep one's attention
