I can say its one of the best of 2014, I have hardly seen Adam Sandler's silent acting and it was exquisite. The main thing I noticed is that the roles or characters are valued equally , we can't point out who the main character is.. the movie is about how the internet and Modern technology is running our lives, doesn't matter you are a young or an adult or a parent or a child. The movie shows how people have chosen their paths, when a problem arises and obviously shows their destination..
So What can we get out of this movie?
The main thing according to my thought is "being patience". then "Making the correct decision and talking your problems with someone and figure out a solution. These three things were well interconnected throughout the movie..
We are humans, we invent technology, we depend on them but we should know how to use it right..

With so many stories it could be easy to neglect some, but there is enough compelling drama to go around. The acting is surprisingly good with some actors getting to shine more than others. I found it unique and interesting.

This movie is not quite a critical favorite. In fact, I have seen some people saying that this is one of the worst movies of 2014. I don’t know how to feel about it because I really enjoyed this movie.

I was expecting this movie to be more internet-focused but I am glad that what I got is a character-focused movie. The internet is more of a background used as a way how it affects people’s lives.

I love how the movie was shot. The cinematography is beautiful and I am so glad I get to see this movie in full HD.

I am not a big fan of the narration by Emma Thompson. It felt unnecessary and pretentious to the movie and it’s only added to make the movie more “artful” than what it should be.

In regards to the movie’s plots, it’s more of a mixed bag. I’ll start with the ones I don’t like.

I really didn’t like the plot about the characters of Hannah, the wannabee star and her mother. This particular plot’s logic is flawed. The plots about the unusual porn addicted teenager Kent and the anorexic girl were underdeveloped and did not give out a proper ending.

I liked Don and Helen’s plot about their unsatisfied sexual desires. That kind of plot is cliched but it was executed well thanks to the satisfying conclusion. My favorite plot was Tim and Brandy’s plot. I could relate to Brandy a lot about how my parents are over-protective. The only difference is that my mother is not on the same level as her mother. The only problem is that the mother is such a one-dimensional character that it’s hard to really understand her motivations. It feels like she is there only to be hated by the viewers.

The cast performances from Adam Sandler, Rosemarie DeWitt, Ansel Elgort and Kaitlyn Dever were my favorite parts of this movie. It’s impressive to see that I don’t see Adam Sandler is in this movie because he is the character instead. I wish he could do more dramatic roles like this instead of making crappy comedy movies that he usually does.

It’s not a perfect movie but I love it for its beautiful cinematography, some well-executed plots and the cast performances from Sandler, DeWitt, Elgort and Dever.

After I had seen the movie completely, I could not have been more flabbergasted: it does away with linear story telling and the concentration on only one character or two, and instead tries to weave a pattern situated in suburban USA. This is juxtaposed by a narrative about humanities place in cosmos which not only allowed me another handle on the implications of the internet, social media, smart phones on human relations and identities which are the movie's topic, but was, for me, intensely poetic. The film does not have a positive hero, but shows people entangled in their limitations and illusions. never loosing, however, the human touch which evolves in short but intense dialogues.
Watching the movie was at the same time gripping and gave me the enjoyment of a rhythmic pattern, like hearing a symphony. I think it is a great movie which should have won prices.

I had my own doubts before I saw this movie, and how most likely it would be shallow and only focus on dumb sex of adults and teens and not actually have a detailed storyline. Completely wrong. Adam Sandler brings his most quiet acting to this film, and it works almost perfectly. Ansel Elgort and Kaitlyn Delver's performance and chemistry on screen is subtle yet so beautiful and aimless. Every characters felt real - and each one is given their own time to shine and show emotion. These scenes of everyday modern life, cut with scenes of a universal satellite alone in space and a single picture of the lone earth... merely a speck in space. However, no matter how we might see ourselves as only microscopic dust in the large galaxy, we are humans. And our human life matters. And that's why this film defies all stereotypes and brings a beautiful nuance. It lives. Expand

I don't know if this movie is suppose to be a spoof of life or a bad period peace film.

The film follows the story of a group of high school teenagers and their parents as they attempt to navigate the many ways the internet has changed their relationships, their communication, their self-image, and their love lives. The film attempts to stare down social issues such as video game culture, anorexia, infidelity, fame hunting, and the proliferation of illicit material on the internet.

From the brilliant mind who bough us such great movies like: Juno and Up in the air, Jason Reitman who is best at period peace films and letting the character's carry the film on their own backs, so what happened here?. How did this movie turn out messy. It had a great idea, great story and a brilliant writer behind it and the film could be really good, but no the writing this time is actually pretty awful. Men, Women & Children feels a miss opportunity of being great.

It's good to see Adam Sandler in a role that doesn't need him to be goofy, over the top and straight up embarrassing. I sawed Mr. Sandler in many different roles in his past career and in this movie he plays like Lester Burnham from American Beauty, you know his world around him feels unbalance, he starts looking at other women for love because his wife doesn't like him any more so basically his like Lester a little bit. Sandler did okay of what he's got in this movie and so dose the other cast in the movie.

But the writing in this movie is really off and what I mean is this movie is trying to basic show social media today and how people are so glued to their screens on their phones or computers, but in this movie it didn't work because everybody is so cardboard cut out that I didn't give a fuss about them and the message in the story itself.

The directing is really off as well. Yes there was some really good shots in the movie, but i think the director took a lot of bad risk that made the movie go blah.

Overall Men, Women & Children feels like a big miss step of being a great movie. A lot of things didn't work in this film and when they are parts that do show greatness it just get's over shadow by left over crap from a other bad film.

While the film is compelling on several levels, it tries too hard to make its points. Expand

So if we're entertained, the movieMy boyfriend and I see almost every movie that viewers like, whom we've learned know what constitutes an entertaining movie, instead of tearing a movie apart as if the critics can write good screenplays. So if we're entertained, the movie gets a 10. This movie was not entertaining, it was educational, and we don't go to movies to get educated. Yet the different multiple stories did ingeniously show how the internet affects our life and how both parents and teenagers often use it for the same reason, sex. If they could reedit this movie and take out the parent's stories and just leave the teenagers stories and their idea of sex, teenagers should be forced to see this movie at school. It will make them question their behavior on the internet and how sex is misused. The stories were told well, the characters believable, and I've seen those same situations occur first hand between males and females whether young or old. The adult situations could have used more humor, as we should know better, and have no excuse for acting stupid. The teenage situations were heartbreaking where most of the time, the adults didn't help them much. I know this film won't be able to find an audience. It was too true to life. But I do want to say, the film showed a great way for the audience to know exactly what was going on the screen and how addicted we are to our electronics, me included. Expand

I'm always interested to watch films about social interactions and media, but this one not only brought nothing new to the table, but addressed several points and ideas that it feels like we've all seen before too many times in the past. The film also seemingly tried to deliver several different messages to its audience to the point where I wasn't sure what it was trying to tell me. For the most part, the acting was fine. However, some of it felt stale and emotionless, especially from Jennifer Garner's character. Adam Sandler and Rosemarie DeWitt, who played husband and wife, felt like a waste. The mother and daughter plot point with Judy Greer allowing her daughter to act like a total slut was just plain ridiculous. Surprisingly, the strongest performances were those of Ansel Elgort's and Kaitlyn Dever's, who played love interests. Overall, it had an interesting concept, but with just ok acting, clumsy storytelling as well as an oddly placed and unnecessary narration from Emma Thompson, and a lack of closure from a lot of the different plot points by the time the film ended weighed this down big time. There's something in Jason Reitman's "Men, Women & Children" that gets lost in translation. Not educational, but doctrinally cartoonish, a lot like Jennifer Garner's unrealistic joke of a character.

There's no shortage of interesting material - looking into the lives of many different types of people. Nevertheless, Men, Women & Children never seems to amount to much of anything.

Sweet, charming, gross, awkward and insane.

Men, Women & Children is an attempt to document the impact of the technological revolution of the early 21st century across multiple generations of regular Americans. It's also a story about marriage, parenting, first love and anonymous sex.

It is instantly dated because, in the time it took to write, produce and edit, - technology and our understanding of it and of our place in the mix moved ahead of the filmmakers.

If you look at it like a period piece - set somewhere in 2011 perhaps - it accurately captures all the urban legends and tropes of those early social media days.

I had a good time with this one.

Sure it took on a few to many topics to deal with in such little time, perhaps a two part movie would have been better.
Most of the performances were great, the writing was also good. This is a good movie for a younger audience.

The comedy is, at times, more about the parents than the teenagers. On another topic, the fact that the teens are asked to find people who remember the day of 9/11, to talk about their memories of it, made me feel somewhat old, considering I remember well where I was at the time and to think there are teenagers who were too young to remember that, is a little depressing but thats a whole other issue(!). Given Adam Sandler is in this film, I suppose I should have had pretty low expectations of it but he doesn't play the main character, indeed there isn't really a main character as such as both the teens and the parents are shown perhaps as much as each others. I thought that overall this is more of a drama than an outright comedy, as towards the end the plot does become quite serious, with the negative consequences of social media, peer pressure and so on being shown. Trust is one of the key themes in this film I'd say.

I would recommend this film, yes.
