This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. -Men & Chicken (Danish: Mænd og Høns) is a 2015 Danish comedy film directed by Anders Thomas Jensen. It was shown in the Vanguard section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. It was one of three films shortlisted by Denmark to be their submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.

--Plot:

-Two brothers (Gabriel and Elias), who are informed at their father's deathbed that they both are adopted, discover that their biological father is Evelio Thanatos, a geneticist specialized in stem cell research. To find out about their mother and to meet their biological father the brothers go to the Island of Ork where they find out that they have three other half-brothers (Franz, Josef and Gregor). Both Gabriel and Elias are welcomed with a beating but later the brothers get along…………..… Expand

Schon seine tiefschwarze Erfolgskomödie Adams Äpfel überschritt vergnügt so manche moralische Grenze – Anders Thomas Jensens Men & Chicken jedoch erreicht South Park-Niveau: Die dezent debilen Brüder Gabriel (David Dencik) und Elias (MadsSchon seine tiefschwarze Erfolgskomödie Adams Äpfel überschritt vergnügt so manche moralische Grenze – Anders Thomas Jensens Men & Chicken jedoch erreicht South Park-Niveau: Die dezent debilen Brüder Gabriel (David Dencik) und Elias (Mads Mikkelsen) erfahren über ein Video des verstorbenen Vaters schockierendes: Papa war nicht wirklich Papa – und drei weitere Brüder leben auf der ausgestorbenen Insel Ork. So verschlägt es das ekelig würgende und dauermasturbierende Geschwisterpaar auf der Suche nach der Vergangenheit ins tiefste Hillbillyhausen – wo hasenschartige Männer noch in einem Bett schlafen, sich mit ausgestopften Tieren verprügeln und finstere Geheimnisse im Keller lauern. Streckenweise zwar etwas übertrieben und allzu gewollt, feiert Men & Chicken ein Fest des Skurrilen, fernab gängiger Gags oder guten Geschmacks. Überraschenderweise ist der dänische Skandalfilm dabei genauso Gaga-Komödie wie unangenehmer Redneck-Horror – und Platz für etwas Tiefe ist auch noch.… Expand

Anders Thomas Jensen is officially my new favorite director. With "Men & Chicken" being only the third title of his that I have watched so far, it is safe to say that no other filmmaker has quite enthralled me with their earnestly comedicAnders Thomas Jensen is officially my new favorite director. With "Men & Chicken" being only the third title of his that I have watched so far, it is safe to say that no other filmmaker has quite enthralled me with their earnestly comedic take on life.
Can't wait to go over all of his filmography featuring the usual collaborators that include the brilliant Mads Mikkelsen.
PS: Danes have the best sense of humor. Change my mind!… Expand
