The Maze Runner was decent despite it being rather incoherent. This movie is just plain boring and generic. The characters are completely forgettable. The movie had its lively moments, but as a series this is a major step down.

It was a very fun and exhilarating movie experience. I thought the acting was great and they have done a really good job of developing the most important characters from the story. Now here comes the "but". If you are a huge fan of the book and you get upset and wild when they do not follow the storyline then I would recommend not going to see this. Rather than make this it's own unique idea they try to make this movie a version of World War Z meets Hunger Games. They make the cranks out complete zombies when that is not at all what they are. And right from the beginning the way they enter the Scorch is completely different then the story. There are characters with them throughout the whole thing that should not be and at the end of it is so completely off base from the original story I honestly have no idea where they are going to go with the next movie. Also there are characters that need to be immune to make the end game of the entire book series storyline and in this movie they made them not immune. Again I will say this is a very enjoyable movie on its own just in the context of the entire story as told by the books it is completely off track and doing its own thing. Expand

The sand castles of mazes.

The story in "The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is about the Gladers who have successfully left the Maze behind them, but escape is only the first step on their journey. Now they find themselves in the Scorch, a desolate landscape where unimaginable obstacles await. The powerful, mysterious group known as the WCKD seems to be behind it all - and, joining with a group of resistance fighters, the Gladers look for clues behind this sinister organization.

So I just seen "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" and it was pretty average. Theses a lot of things that I liked in the movie and these a lot I didn't like. Dylan O'Brine did a decent job playing the main lead in the movie, as he basically carried this whole movie just like in the first movie. The first 20 minutes of this movie was pretty dam good and I was very engaged on what was happening on screen. The action scenes and the cinematography in the movie was pretty damn good. This is a good looking but at the same time cruel looking movie.

Now for the bad: The movie is a bit predictable at times even in it's action scenes and the story itself. The movie dose feel rushed at times with are main characters quickly going to one place to the other just like that, and I think it's something to do with it's pasting as it jumps ahead a lot.

I didn't mind some of the CGI when it was used best in the backgrounds of a clear view of the waste land, but the cgi used on the creatures looked extremely fake and completely took me out of the movie. Of course the movie ends on that 'you got to wait for that third one', dick tease that everyone doesn't question why movies have to end like that.

Overall Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials was a decent watch. It wasn't that bad as some critics have been pointing it out to be. If you have interest in seeing the film I say "see it", if not then "skip it".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A sequel so full of plot holes, hampered by clichéd writing, it's hard to imagine how this would succeed. Well, here's the answer: it didn't. The original was an immensely entertaining YA affair, with some exposition and underdeveloped characters, but the cinematography was stunning and the action sequences (nicely directed by Wes Ball) were fast-paced. All in all, I gave it a 6/10 for sheer entertainment, but didn't hold me as much other genre films like Hunger Games, for example. The sequel does little to improve on it, unsurprisingly, and some appreciated characters from the first didn't get enough focus in this one, and that annoyed me. If there's the worst thing I would point out is the zero character development "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" has. Honestly, there's no longer a reason as to why it has that title. There were no mazes, just running from Guards, running from zombies (oh my God, do not get me started on the name they gave them), running from lightning, running from everything. There was too far much running than it was necessary. Not helping matters is Kaya Scodelario's performance as Teresa. She isn't convincing nor her character's reasons. There's a reason as to why she betrays her friends, and it doesn't make any sense. It's like the writers don't know what do with her anymore.

Assuredly, there were a lot of stunning production settings and action sequences, but it's not on par with its predecessor, and ultimately makes for a very disappointing time in cinema this year.

Final Score: 4.5/10

While it lacks the humor and fun of the first movie, Scorch Trials is a wild ride.

The movie builds on an interesting, if not unique, Young-Adult-Post-Apocalyptic world. Its got all the hallmarks of this dystopian future, crumbling buildings, a vast wasteland replete with zombie-like plague victims and the Hollywood-Standard "Evil Corp" military-industrial complex baddies.

Lots of explosions and good guys running from bad guys makes for a good, but not great, theatre experience.

This was for me one of the worst movie this year. Probably because it is so pretentious.

How to explain this ? Probably those teens who are put through situations and keep going through them like they are made of cardboard. Maybe the GO GO said in various iterations and repetitions pretending to be energy from characters who don't really exist beyond their confrontations to artificial challenges.

Probably because of the lack of any story besides some bad guys opportunely named Wicked and some other guys. The movie steals from all sources of modern cinema only to display cliches upon a cardboard feel like movie.

But just all the directing of the movie is pretentious, pretending to be good and glorifying itself on doing something expensive but empty. Pretending that putting some dramatic music ad nauseam makes the movie tense. It doesn't.
It just shows the guys behind the direction of this movie have no real ideas, though arguably a bit of talent, beyond some wannabe hype.

The Scorch Trials follows Thomas and co. after they have exited the Glade and eventually find themselves in an even more hostile environment, the Scorch. If the environment doesn't kill them, the Cranks will, zombie-like people who have contracted an apocalyptic virus. This movie deviates significantly from its predecessor; while The Maze Runner was an intense sci-fi mystery, The Scorch Trials is an action-packed thriller bent on making your pulse race from start to finish. It lacks the mystery of the first film, but the sequel makes up for it with the unpredictable and thrilling plot and visceral action scenes. It also packs a strong emotional punch. All the returning characters have been nicely developed while new characters bring exciting changes to series' pace and style, so when the final act goes completely insane, you'll really feel for what these characters go through. By improving almost every aspect of The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials becomes the rare sequel that is better than its predecessor, and I eagerly await the next installment. Expand

If you only play the audio of The Scorch Trials you'd think you are watching the Walking Dead. Personally, this film is just riding the wave of all possible trends: the young adults, the zombies, the post apocalyptic world... the only one that's missing is the love story, which I believe will spring in full bloom in the next chapter.

The film is utterly disconnected from the first one, and it doesn't feel at all like a continuation. It would have been okay if they released it after a couple of months, but it's been a full year, and the material in the Maze Runner was so boring and cliché I was forgetting it while I was watching it. Granted I have a bias against these kinds of genres, and an even bigger one against sequels, but The Scorch Trials relies on some very weak premises and seems to be going towards very weak conclusions as well.

The film had very strong and thrilling beginning. Way more action packed and surprising touching at the end. Tons of jump scares, this reminded me of World War Z. Though lagging towards the end and a bit too long, I still am satisified and my audience seemed to like it too. Most of you who rated this like a 1 or 2 basically did not see the movie, read the critics' comments and combined them for your bad review. For a 2 hour film, There were a lot of annoying cuts that seemed to skip sections of the plot at a time. For instance, There was a part where they're about to get stuck in a storm and are seeking shelter, It then immediately cuts to the following day with the group just chilling on the ground. Another example is he gets drunk, has flashbacks in a club and wakes up to the club empty, reunited with his friends and seeing the host of the club getting beaten.

Those examples show to me that the writer obviously had no clue what the heck he was doing when adapting this book and it shows. His poor writing really helped ruin this movie.

The adventure expands outside the maze to seek the answers.

Another teen movie in the mid series on the line of 'Divergent' and 'Hunger Games'. As an adult, I don't know what to expect from it, but entertainment was the priority. The first film was just an introduction that happened in a small and a single location like the film 'Cube'. Now it has outspread in a large extent with more new characters and takes a wider adventure in the wastelands.

Many doubts from the previous film were cleared, yet a few need to be clarified and hoping for the next one to do that job. But anyway the suspense was this franchise's specialty, that simply reminds us the TV series 'Lost'. This second part can be compared with plenty of other post apocalyptic films, but still I liked it better than the first.

The best thing was they retained the same director and he's going to be here for the next film as well. But I'm more interested in the prequel, I mean the fourth film than the third which brings an end to the story moving forward. Because the maze holds the key for many unresolved issues. So I'm anticipating the prequel trilogy than the current one to learn how it all began.

Surprisingly, many new additions like zombies, bounty hunters in the mainstream boosted the film with its variety. Gives us a creepy atmosphere, along thrilling running and chasing. The twist was not that great, but kind of unpredictable, and again due to the mysteries surrounding it, it created more curious about what might happen next.

The 1st movie was ok.. not worth writing about, but not bad enough to leave an impression worthy of remembering. This 2nd movie is horrible.

So now we have zombies, retarded romance triangles with meaningless sappy scenes and equally sappy music, even worse cliche dialog, extremely stupid characters (who would not survive a night in a tent no less the end of the world), unlikable characters and a plot that that is completely unbelievable and very poorly written. It tries really hard to force emotional situations on you (similar to the other stupid series, Mockingjay or whatever it is called), and you are expected to care because... well the music is sappy lol.

The story reveals what the disease from the 1st movie was talking about. Turns out, its a zombie apocalypse and of course, the wolverine clone is the cure. Then you have one of the stupidest betrayals followed by worse decisions and more sappy moments and by the end my stomach started to hurt and I wanted to puke.

What a horrible series. Unoriginal, formulaic and snore fest.

So comes the trials and errors of try hard young-adult adaptations. Some Fail epicly, such as the dreadful 'Mortal Instruments' movie and 'Eragon'. Some dont hurt as much, such as the better but equally failing adaptation of 'I Am Number Four'. I could go on.

The Maze Runner is the latest feature to fall into that pattern. The movie made big money in its first three days of original release. So I ran to see what all the fuss was about. I came out extremely satisfied and so surprised at the quality of Director Wes Balls take on the novels by James Dashner, that I immediately started yelling at all my friends and family to go and see it. Most of them were not disappointed either.

Then comes 'The Scorch Trials' Released exactly one year and one day after the originals release. Starring the surviving members of the original film as seen below. Dylan O'Brien returns as Thomas (keep an eye out for in his next Film 'Deepwater Horizon' Based on the an offshore Oil Rigg Explosion which created the largest oil spill in U.S. History) and my favourite Kay Scodelario (Tv's Skins). A big mention goes to the amazing young actor Jacob Lofland, who plays 'Aris Jones' who was amazing here and in his previous film 'MUD'.

The film picks up almost moments after the initial film ended. Leaving the Maze and The Grievers behind. The kids are taken back by 'Janson' Played by Game Of Thrones 'Aidan Gillen' to what seems like a safe zone away from the now barren wastelands of Earth, which have been destroyed by The Scorch. The Scorch being a tremendously fierce and frightening storm that basically melts away and destroys nearly anything it touches. Also being kept at bay is what seems like infected humans, almost zombie like creatures that remain on the outside. Who doesn't like a good zombie chase drama? It should be all happy days and new beginnings for the group. Only to find out something W.C.K.D is still coming.

Suffice to say it all starts a mostly brilliant 'On The Run' action movie. Amazing set pieces, music and of course most of the main cast of actors bring what they need to. Most of the new ones feel a little like left overs. Either it is them, or its the new script writer. The first half is brilliant and for me, sadly, the second half just doesn't hold up to the originals thrilling and intense mystery sideshow. Introducing too many factions and characters and losing the eerie 'Everyone is possibly dead or dying' feel. Even with its slight throw of a boomerang towards the end, that, anyone can see coming from a mile away. There were some truly horrific and scary scenes that, i am glad i did not bring my 'ready and willing' 8 year old along to. In the end however, what we have is a fun, serviceable sequel, that leaves it wide open for what will no doubt be the third, final act (chopped into two I am sure). There are 5 Books overall I believe.

Quite frankly this series will probably end up being an exciting watch together when they are all complete. For now we have to play the waiting game and even though I will see the eventual sequel and where it goes, I don't quite feel I need to. Which leaves me feeling a little down after the amazing start this series had.

However, there were some problems with it that seemed easily avoidable. For instance, there was a crazy amount of pointless in between moments of the characters walking through the desert. We got it in the first ten minutes of these scenes. It's a long journey, they're tired, there's bad conditions.... speed it up please. And it's not like there was any important dialogue going on either. Just a mention that the main character was the reason for all this bad but it wasn't elaborated on by the girl. The viewer then knew of course that it would be brought up later in a big plot twist.... blegh. Then the dumbness of the characters which was frustrating. In the first movie we were under the impression they were very smart, then all of a sudden they're talking loudly and banging things around zombies... really? And that scene where they are underground and they are talking where it is echoing with the flashlights... I kinda wanted the zombies to eat them. But. It's a good series. And the first movie was excellent. Hopefully they get it together for the next one. I still give it an 8 because the action scenes were great and everything besides what i mentioned was highly entertaining. It deserves a higher overall score then what is on here. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie has some really great moments, and is more on the action side of the spectrum. It was very exciting and has a pretty creepy tone to it. If you've read the book, you'd know that this movie is nothing like the book. That's mainly the reason I'm giving it an average score. But I think they could have improved it by giving a more desperate tone to the movie, as James Daschner did in the books. Expand

Movie makers are only trying to milk this new cash cow which is based on young adult dystopian universe but how much could it work. Also another cheap trick is to cast Game of Thrones actors to get an extra audience but could it really work to see an actor play highly techno role (although without any importance) whom you have seen in cloak and pre-historic era. Scorch does not clarifies what is the object of the kids running, I was left amazed at the selfishness of the character. What is wrong in sacrificing yourself to find a cure. And a little background, why were those all kept in Maze in previous movie, to find out what ?if they are immune? how would have it worked. Dylan O'Brien should be considered for Golden Raspberry Award for his terrible performance. Overall movie is a way down and very dull. Expand

I only did this bc a lot of reviews I see got mad at the movie for certain outcomes that happened in the book. I will say that I personally loved the movie. I found it to be a worthy successor to the 1st film which I have seen 3 times. The story while different from the 2nd book in many facets also plays nicely with the 1st movie. The acting is Amazing and my favorite character in the book Jorge played by Giancarlo Esposito was Fantastic. The action was extremely well done and very riveting. The enemies which everyone should know by now if you have read the books or seen the trailers are a mix between "28 Days Later" & "World War Z". I will move onto my 2nd opinion of the story which when comparing it to the book is very different and there are certain scenes from the book that I wish they had included in the film but it is what it is regardless from that it moved along just fine. I would recommend this movie for sure if you're a fan of the books or even the movie. I also would recommend not paying attention to reviews from people who haven't read the book as they don't have the whole picture. I can't wait for part 3 being "The Death Cure". Expand

Book adaptations usually bomb, but films such as The Hunger Games and The Fault In Our Stars had the power and punch that movies like The Maze Runner and Divergent lacked. Scorch Trials was a 2 hour race that would eventually end in a rancid love triangle. The action was dumbed down and nothing special. If there is something that Trials did well was the beautiful cinematography and Dylan O Brian's punchline acting. The movie is left in dust, but the ambitious Brian and the EXCELLENT cinamtography still don't make this a worthwhile theatre watch. Nonetheless, if you have a sweet home theatre, rent the film and be amazing by the beauty. Expand

This sequel picks up as they find themselves with a new set of challenges in a perilous "scorched" landscape. They spend most of the movie running from the evil military scientists, zombies and miscellaneous rogue outliers. Although action is plentiful, not much of it is particularly memorable (the slanted skyscraper is the only exception). There are also mysteries to unfold, which add more questions than answers. Here we go again guys with another movie franchise that came from best selling novel , Maze Runner.

I have to tell you first , i don't like the first movie the Maze Runner one i just don't like it , the problem with that movie is it's just so bland so boring so repetitive without anything new at all.

So here's come the sequel : The Scorch Trials maybe they can fix the problem ? NOPE

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials overall still a bland boring repetitive movie this is a movie that offers absolutely nothing new and also copy/paste the more successful franchise (like the Hunger Games)

EVERYTHING in this movie you already seen a hundred times from others movie from the conflict , the characters or even the ending , the script sucks it's just so mediocre even there's more action scene you fell like want to fall asleep all the time.

Even though i think The Scorch Trials or Maze Runner franchise as a whole is not a terrible movie but i just getting tired of these kind of movie that just so lazy in pretty much every aspect , they just want to get these best selling novel books out to make money and that's it , there's no point why or even something memorable about it , i'm fine with repetitive stuff if it works or memorable but The Scorch Trials is not memorable it's just one of those mediocre bland movie that you will just forget until the 3rd movie came out.

I am a fan of the books, and I fully expect Hollywood to intervene with movies and change it up sometimes. I'll even admit the changes that are made are often for the better. However, this diverted from the source material so harshly It should not even have the Maze Runner tag attached to it.

This movie took an established and original story set to a admittedly generic concept and made it even more generic. This movie is truly just a generic post-apocalyptic zombie movie, which the source material is not. But I'm not just a **** fanboy, I can see what they were trying to make a movie that would more than likely be appealing to a wider audience, but while they set out to make that kind of movie, they failed at even doing that.

The cinematography is horrible, the dialogue is horrible, the story they tried to make is riddled with plot holes and pure exposition, the action scenes are not intense in any way, and the final act is 15 minutes too long. The first movie gave me a shimmer of hope because, even though it diverted heavily from the book, the story it told still had some appeal to it. They have now come to a screeching halt on that account.

If I'm to give this movie a pro? The acting is not half bad. Dylan O' Brian impresses, and his supporting cast is quiet good with a few useless characters strewn throughout. Honestly that's it. I truly can't think any ANYTHING else good to say.

A lot of other movies came out this weekend, like that one were Johnny Depp is actually good. Go see that instead.

The expected themes are in play, but "The Scorch Trials" does enough unique to make it stand out from the ever growing pack of these kind of movies.

For all intents and purposes it's a post-apocalyptic zombie movie. Surprising, considering the first fit into the standard sci-fi mold similar to Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Giver. The only thing it really had going in it's favor was a darker overall tone.

Here though it defies expectations. It's got thrilling action and the characters have been much improved. For starters our lead Dylan O'Brien is much more likable this time around. The supporting cast is just as charming as ever, with the standout once again being Ki Hong Lee as Minho.

Plenty of twists and new character developments take place, with more of the mystery of the overall plot being revealed along the way. The new characters fit right in.

So perhaps the whole zombie apocalypse thing isn't exactly a new idea, but it's a nice enough change of pace to allow this Maze Runner sequel to break away from the standard YA novel movie mold. It's a heck of a lot of fun, a huge improvement over it's predecessor, and has left me impatiently waiting for the next one.

As a result, my total score for the movie is a near-perfect score of 9.9/10. An excellent movie all around. One that's worth watching even this genre is beginning to grate on your nerves at this point. Just keep in mind the first is basically required to understand what's going on here.

The first film in the series, was nothing like the book, as it completely failed to demonstrate the comradery among the boys, as well as eliminating key elements from the story. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who noticed this, as The Scorch Trials made sure the same mistakes didn't happen twice. Of course the same elements that were ignored in the first film had to still be excluded for the sake of continuity, but the rest of the film was dead on. In the second film, the boys learn that their rescue was only short lived, as they are still under the control of Wicked, and are about to face their second test. The group is to be dropped into the most unforgiving part of the earth, a place where the disease runs rampant, and cranks are everywhere, the Scorch. If they can survive the Scorch, the boys will have a better idea of what they are up against, and Wicked may just be able to get what they need from them to finally find a cure, that is if they make it to the end. Unlike the first film, Dylan O'Brian finally embraces the leadership role that Thomas is supposed to play in the series, and gives the film the hero to root for that it was sorely lacking. The additions of Jacob Lofland and Rosa Salazar further move the story along, as the film starts to pursue the side angles much in a way the novels did, something the first film also ignored. The narrow focus of the first film, combined with it's rushed nature, and missing elements, made it seem like a cliff notes version of otherwise terrific novel. The sequel however takes the time to properly tell the story, explore the angles, and was much closer to the original story. If you're not a reader and you were turned off by the first film, I don't blame you, but give the sequel a chance, it's a much more accurate depiction of the story. Expand

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is a film directed by Wes Ball; starring Dylan O'Brian, Thomas Sangster and Kaya Scodelario. The film picks up right where the last one ended with the group being taken by mysterious people to a mysterious compound. Okay, let's start with the problems. First off, there is basically no story. It suffers from being a middle entry but also spends most of the time having the characters run around. While it's fun at first it slowly becomes tedious. You never get to see them spend time and further their characters because every time they stop, the things they talk about try to further the story which doesn't work because the story is a mess. The story is really just one big plot point which is to take down the evil organization. So, the problems are there is zero story and no character development. Now, on to the good stuff. Dylan O'Brian is once again fantastic as Thomas and so is his supporting cast that features Thomas Sangster and Kaya Scodelario. Also Ki Hong Lee is fantastic as Mihno. Also the effects are fantastic especially considering it's relatively small $61 million dollar budget. Also, there are many exhilarating and well shot parts that really had me gripping the armrests on my seat. I definitely liked the ending especially the cliffhanger which has gotten me eager for the final installment. In conclusion, The Scorch Trials doesn't have much in the way of story or character development but makes up for it with wonderful performances and great visuals along with a strong, exciting ending so I'm giving it an 8/10. The action scenes are very exciting, and the young actors, especially the lead, give very good performances, but the plot turns generic and loses its sense of mystery. The first movie also deflated in this way but not until the very end. It kept its sense of originality most of the way through. I didn’t read the books but I found the first film to be fairly entertaining and it was the first time that we got an adaptation of a young adult novel that wasn’t the Hunger Games that was actually tolerable. I like the kick off of The Scorch Trials. Its mystery is very similar to the first movie only with more of a sci-fi spin on it but eventually this film began to wear thin. There are also some exceptional new characters that are introduced all throughout the film played by some familiar faces like Giancarlo Esposito and Barry Pepper.

There is too much going on in the Scorch Trials, but then its also too long at 131 minutes because there are several points in the film where the story seems to be at a stalemate and adds to length despite not being an essential component. Then they add zombies to the mix for a little while and they still have to keep away for the main villain so that clogs things up. Plus, these zombies are sometimes made up actors and sometimes they are CGI so that really screws up the continuity.

Finally we get to Dylan O’Brien who impressed me in the first film and looks to have some potential to be a star in more films in the future, but I could not stand his character by the ending of this movie. He is very comparable to Captain America with his pureness and always has to do the right thing. You need to have a hero with at least one flaw. Then it just gets to a point where it is unbelievable and annoying because it just seems like an easier way to drag the film on and allow more sequels. I know this is really not O’Brien’s fault that his character was written that way but it just made the film so predictable. This character is only supposed to be a teenager and teens are not that moral. I also got really sick of his over exaggerated running.

Then much like the first film, we are left with a cliff hanger ending in order to set up a sequel. It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so pathetically obvious and this movie wasn’t so shaky in the first place, but I’ll probably still watch the third film just because I want to see how the new characters will fit into the next film, so I guess I’m just as gullible as anyone else.

New writer T.S Nowlin has changed the original source materials into a formulaic young adult action adventure with some flaws and illogical competency of the villains but the tone has overall turned into much darker, more happening compared to the first one and less focused on unnecessary romance. The pacing of the film is slightly over rushed due to expansion of bigger field, causing a fair development of new locations and proper introduction of the new characters. However, cinematography of the film looks appealing thanks to angles of shooting, strong scores, intense action sequences, good CGIs on the Cranks, visually tremendous of the sets and firm performance from the young casts. Though with a lot of questions left behind and predictable twisted ending, the sequel seems worth to be anticipated only if it's not separated into two parts. Expand

Action sequences are amazing and the desert can be quite scary with the "dead" people's presence. On the other hand, the story gets very confusing as new information comes and we don't know who to trust in, even among Gladers aka Teresa. I know the story can be complex but whathappens here is a poorly developed script. In addition, duration can bore us in a few moments when we actually want the film to end but things don't stop happening and we have many "endings" until the real one comes. In other words, the script gets a little bit confusing and let us with even more doubts towards the story and credits start rolling. It's as if we were lost just like characters on screen but they're at least moving, while we are sit on a chair. Expand

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, for the first 1/2 hour, was actually pretty good, but for the rest of the movie, it was a long bore. Although it was ten times better than the first one, it still didn't meet the standards for a good film.

So, what was this movie about, really? Seemed like a lot of running, escaping, chasing, etc. Was there a story line here? After the first movie, this was a let down. I suppose it is a filler leading up to the grand finale third movie.

When looking back over things, I realized it wasn't an altogether bad movie, for what it is, an empty tween summer action movie, but it needed some serious editing.

Did not pass my boredom test. I looked at my watch more than once during this movie.

Why was this movie 2 hours long? I have no idea. In that sense the movie reminds me of jogging after a long hiatus. It starts out fast then quickly gets tired, and by the end you just want it over.

Turns out it was a new age alternative blockbuster with teenagers fighting for survival in a dystopian future regime (like the Hunger Games and the Divergent series).
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is the second entry of what it seems will be another teen dystopian trilogy. The first movie was a sci-fi/mystery/thriller combination, while this second one focuses mainly on action. I like good action films and this one had a lot of that but like in most cases the original first film and idea are better. Nevertheless this second entry combines the element of urgency with constant running action scenes and is a nice choice to accompany your pop corn with. Direction and sound are nicely executed and the young actors' performances are solid. Dylan O' Brien will some day become a star (of course not as big as Jennifer Lawrence). So if you like your sci-fi mixed with simplistic but intense action this one is recommended.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. • Today I am reviewing a film called maze runner the scorch trials. This film is about a group of kids who stared in a maze then except. They went to this safe place then they realized it was not then they go on the run and they realized that people has change in to zombies it stars Aidan Gillen, Dylan O'Brien, Esposito, Kaya, Thomas Brodie-Sangster
I think the film was very good I give it 10 out of 10 it has lots of action and it was funny. The best part was when they wear in this house and they hard this nose and lodes of zombies wear chasing them it was funny. I would defiantly recommend this film to anyone. There is a 3rd one out next year.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This continuation of the original Maze Runner is a failure. The first Maze Runner was bad but this was extremely bad. If this film wasn't a sequel to the Maze Runner then it would be a mediocre film. However, with this being a follow on to the first is what disappoints me. The characters aren't even in a maze despite it being called "Maze Runner" and being a continuation from the follow on. The start of the film drags too much compared to the first start of the film which was a fantastic start and kept you guessing. Expand

The Scorch Trials is a fun and very entertaining movie that, if is not overanalyzed, is amply entertaining, it is true that it has some bumps and mistakes, but its rhythm is agile and commendable if you ignore the little that explains its plot.

After the success of the first film, the sequel was expected. And I was pleased to see it, as the first film leaves everything open and raises our curiosity for what comes next.

In this film, Thomas, Teresa and the boys from the labyrinth goes to a place where there are other young people, from other labyrinths that apparently existed elsewhere. However, it is evident right from the start that the place belongs to the terrible medical organization that had kept them trapped in the maze. After they manage to escape, they discover themselves in a ruined, arid and devastated world, where the only human beings who are there are sick and maddened zombie creatures.

The film is a good sequel and rises to the level of the previous film. The only thing that disappointed me was really seeing that the sick humans were similar to the living dead of a thousand and one films and series like "Walking Dead", for example. I expected something different. In any case, it was not unpleasant and allows for good action scenes and runs amid the ruins. The plot twist near the end is intense, unexpected and in fact allows for a very well done finish. The pace of the film is pleasant too.

The film has a very good cast, and maintains the hard core of the previous film, as it had to be. Dylan O’Brian remains a good protagonist and does a very safe job. Scodelario received better material and her character was much more developed in this film, which allowed the actress to do a more interesting job. The love interest of O’Brian and Scodelario’s characters is developed and credible. Ki Hong Lee and Thomas Brodie-Sangster also do a very good job on this film. Giancarlo Esposito is a welcome addition. Rosa Salazar is more effective as an action figure than in the inglorious task of making a love triangle with Scodelario and O'Brian, where she fails miserably. Patricia Clarkson is a weak and uninteresting villain, although she tries to look bad. Aidan Gillen was more effective in this task.

The film has excellent production values and there is a lot of money tied up in high quality CGI that makes the whole world look like a deserted, inhospitable, poisoned and ruined place. Infected human creatures, as I said, are the least positive thing in the film, as we have seen better zombies in other films, where it is clear and assumed to be zombies. The film has excellent cinematography, is visually magnificent and makes the most of light and colors. However, it is darker than the first film. The soundtrack also deserves mention. Composed by John Paesano, whom I did not know, it is an intense soundtrack, with an epic and deep sense.
