Symbolism, indeed. Symbolism before anything else, especially when you realize how simplified its plot is.

I think any viewer who has seen this type of film won't find it hard to understand what it's all about, because clearly this is more style than substance, but I don't want that to be interpreted in a negative way, it's just that films like Manta Ray seek to be more of a hypnotic experience than a structured narrative or dialogue-based experience.

It's a stylish and quite well-made work, but for a very limited audience.… Expand
