This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a film which perhaps sometimes gets some unfair ratings by reviews. Elements of it are certainly solid and we'll done. The acting is strong throughout and I liked the characters. The atmosphere is creepy and the film beautifully shot at times. For the most part, the storyline works too, though weakens as the film goes on before falling down somewhat at the end: Dragging the film down to being a bit of a regular unimaginative supernatural gore fest in the last half hour. Overall, creepy at times and worth a watch, but nothing outstanding.… Expand

Malevolent, which just premiered on Netflix, is about a phony ghost-hunting crew in the '80s who encounter a real haunted house. I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews for this. I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews for this. Thought it wasn't half bad myself. Sure, it doesn't really do anything new and the story and direction is average, emphasis on AVERAGE. This is a competent film, and I was entertained enough for the running time. The cast is game and sells this. Also, there are a couple of interesting song choices that did catch me by surprise and added to the creepiness.… Expand
