Comedy with dramatic and satirical overtones. The argument has some originality but it feels quite artificial and although I cannot say that it was openly boring, it's not so pleasant either and its characters don't help at all actually.

The film carries a quirky tone throughout the film, especially in part to Anne Fredericks, played by Toni Collette, an eccentric, wealthy housewife that bases all her decisions on what others think and making sure no one is happier than she is. She’s a character that the audience will love to hate, and only strengthens the quirky vibes the film puts out. This isn’t necessarily the greatest love story ever told, but it is one that’s worth a watch.… Expand

I really liked Madame, I thought it was such a feel-good movie! From the very beginning upbeat song that played in the film’s opening credits, to Maria having her Pretty Woman moment while getting ready for the dinner party this movie is fullI really liked Madame, I thought it was such a feel-good movie! From the very beginning upbeat song that played in the film’s opening credits, to Maria having her Pretty Woman moment while getting ready for the dinner party this movie is full on fun. Madame definitely had me wanting to get all gussied up to be the belle of the ball. This film is perfect for any romantic comedy lover, or anyone who has enjoyed movies such as Beatriz For Dinner or Maid In Manhattan. Totally recommend people give this film a watch!… Expand

Toni Collette’s character was a snobby rich women whom I loved! There is something to say about a rich woman who’s jealous of her maid, haha. Entering this strange new world, she is oblivious to that everyone is out for themselves. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. ~ Had never seen nor heard of this great movie until I happened upon it on Starz cable network. I am familiar with Toni & Harvey & Rossy from many films going back to the 1960s: 3 favourite actors. I really was into all the characters, and enjoyed the film, although it could have been tightened, or edited better. My great disappointment was the script. This movie could very well have a part 2. The son, Maria, David, the 2 affairs: what was lacking was the resolution of many open plotlines. My greatest disappointment was how Maria was treated, and there were no repercussions on her behalf, no comeuppances. Toni Collette's character in particular needed some strong opposition. I, again, thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and can only hope for a sequel which probably would be even more fun. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~… Expand

Madame is about a maid who gets a shot at the good life when a mistake forces her employers to let her attend a dinner party where she meets a businessman who falls in love with her. Madame is a romantic comedy filled with charm and laughs. However, if you’re not a fan of the genre Madame also has plenty of clever satire on class and culture division as well as adultery, jealousy, and secrets. The performances are all great and there are several recognizable actors including Toni Collette, Harvey Keitel, and Rossy de Palma. If you love romantic comedies you’ll love Madame and if you don’t love them, you’ll still love Madame!… Expand
