This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the first netflix film that I have ever seen with the capability for depth, nuance, and careful story-telling. There are so many relatable details and none of them are handed to the audience with a heavy-hand, we are led to learn slowly and brutally at times as Ani grows through telling her story. The last few minutes of the movie are hollow and empty and I can't help but chalk that up as a reflection of the inherent hollowness of how we tend to have discussions like these in social media these days. Overall, this was a consistently riveting experience and told a story that many will resonate with. Absolutely excellent work, at long last, from this streaming platform. Expand

I praise it for exposing the intended message, but what a terrible way to trivialize it.
This material was completely beyond Mila Kunis' grasp and the film suffers for it, even as the plot never achieves a distinct voice to provoke anything more emotional, because as it concludes, it feels like we come to the end of a little story that forces closure and catharsis for its protagonist in a way that feels fanciful and completely unrealistic.

Selective feminism for female readers of "The New York Times". Ethnic rapes, street rapes against ordinary women, and WASP rapes: why should Netflix give a damn about the first two categories that don't have enough money to subscribe to its platform? Why have civil rights movements supplanted social rights ones, and Florida has just become a new GOP fiefdom as Latinos refuse to be called Latinx with inclusive language? Mila Kunis produces herself in a film that conveys a revolting message: if you are a career woman, a successful woman, havin' been raped is a medal to brag about, as it means that you made it despite the starting handicap.

Everything comes off as borderline exploitative. All the insensitivity of the film aside, I found every single character on display to be unlikable. No one is worth sympathising for, making the narrative fall further apart.

Very very heavy material, probably blends too many of those topics into one film, none of them really get full attention. There is basically not a single likeable character in the film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
Aqui Mila Curtis consegue encarnar a dor, o vazio, a dúvida.

Decent film. The premise is very strong and I’m sure the book was great but the movie could of been a lot more. I did think the acting was good, written well and for what it was I had a decent time for a one time watch.

An excellent film about the fact that there is no mercy for a rapist. A man who physically harms a woman just once is not a man, but just a simple coward, disqualified from any relationship between a man and a woman.
