'Logan' is a well-calibrated folktale. The story is familiar and monotonous, but it's told with gravitas and specificity. The story is familiar and monotonous, but it's told with gravitas and specificity. Hardcore X-fans will surely be thrilled, as will anyone seeking a leaner and meaner approach to the genre, but be warned that the movie is incredibly predictable and has some weird pacing issues, which likely result from budget shortcuts and the myopia of a director more concerned with paying homage to his favorite Westerns and Noirs than in creating a new experience. I respected the hell out of how this movie was crafted (the acting! the cinematography! the wonderful little details!), but often felt like I was just going through the motions waiting for the next inevitable, repetitive plot point. Every time the movie takes a pit stop to ponder some interesting tangent, the trip is immediately jerked back on course, barreling towards it's final, thoroughly mapped-out destination. Watching this movie is like taking a road trip through Nebraska. The scenery is initially breathtaking and it seems like anything could be just beyond the horizon, but eventually as you make your way from Point A to Point B it all just kind of goes by in a dusty, hazy blur. Not a bad film, but weighted down but repetition and a very long running time. Predictable, illogical, stretcher of credulity to the breaking point. Worth watching if you have the time to spend, but don't expect a superior movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really don't see why everyone is so ready to praise this film. It's mediocre at best. Not great as a superhero movie, not great as a western. A campy slow building film with shallow villains with nonsensical motivations. A plot that has enough short sightings to make one cringe *spoilers* 1.Let's go to canada where we will be safe when the villians are already crossing borders from mexico and could care less about borders. 2. Let's Kill all of the children from the experiments but wait lets take the GIRL ALIVE. *end spoiler* **** exposition leaving the viewer confused as to where the **** all of the x-men are and why all of them are dead. Lot's of gore to the point of being goofy (lot's of face stabbing). LOTS OF FACE STABBING. FACE EXPLOSIONS. shallow character deaths and depths, with little to no emotions. Everyone saying it's the perfect 'goodbye' is officially an emotionaless zombie. They died in vain to what their characters stood for. The movie truges slowly for the middle hour and half to point of incredible boredom with logane doing nothing but cursing or staring at the road or his companions. Notable mentions are Patrick stewarts attempt at somwhat redeeming the movie (somewhat). All in all the praise for this movie is undeserved. It's a shortsighted overproduced campy gorey goofy and shallow movie. A shallow ending for a hero that's been in the X-men series for over a decade. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Logan is a good movie in some parts (mainly in the beginning). Although this review will probably trigger some of the diehard fans here, much of the film actually has a lot of issues which people seem to be overlooking. If you enjoy the original Xmen films and won't get mad over valid criticisms presented here, feel free to read on. The film does well in many parts: action - amazing and visceral, leaves you speechless. I thought the villain played by Boyd Hollbrook was played very well. Acting in this movie is very good -especially Dafney Keen, the girl who plays X-23. The film is also very funny which is always a good thing.

However, I believe these are the major flaws of the film that prevents it being anywhere as good as X2 or Days of Future Past:
1) Structurally it's very simple (which is fine) but it's so predictable in narrative events. What you essentially have in this film is a an action set piece, then followed by dialogue/character building. Its arguably one of the laziest scripts I've ever seen due to the fact they repeat the same thing after they first retreat from the farm. For example in the midpoint of the film, after they are chased out of a hotel they were residing in, they literally for no reason (despite being on the run) stay at some farm guys house after helping their horses. It makes absolutely no sense given the Transigen troops were after them (with seemingly unlimited resources). And then this is repeated again, when they again stop at the Eden get away.

2) Emotionally this film wasn't that strong. I like the beginning when Logan is taking care of Charles showing the care he has towards his father figure, despite the fact Professor X has lost all of his agency as a character. It is sad, yet emotionally satisfying because it is not artificial. However, this is never developed any further due to the fact the film wanted use to then relate Logan with X-23. So when Charles kinda just dies, it was one of the less impactful deaths of X-Men (I hold X3 death of Charles far superior here). The relationship between X23 and Wolverine also falls flat because they never spend enough time alone to get that relationship. You never really feel Logan is making a choice about his daughter because they never really speak. This was evident in the final act when Logan was seemingly prepared to just let X23 go off and only decided to help once he saw the troops advancing on their position. 3) Score was barely existent, cinematography was average at best (but I did like the beginning 2049 look of America with driveless trucks etc). 4) Lazy tropes. Xander Rice magically appears in the mid point of the film to become another villain and he brings the most generic villain ever which was a clone of Logan. 5) **** kids actor with CGI powers come up at the end. I thought this was suppose to be a grounded film. They also decide to sit there half the time, and only conveniently use their powers where the plot requires them to do so. 6) Chekhov's gun is abused in this film. Adamantium bullet magically shows up to counter clone Logan, magically green power boost potion needed one more time for hero - but then magically evaproates once the noobs are taken out, photo of children conveniently has their secret revendouz point spelt out on the back and surives a grenade explosion. 7) Stupid scene where Caliban blows himself up to also kill Donald Pierce, but is miraculously fine straight after. We also later see the body of Caliban is also not torn to shreds despite 1m from approximity of grenade- WTF? - but even more stupid is the redundant random line said by the villain saying his tissues are good for marking, despite the fact we wont be ever seeing this timeline again and nothing happens with that tissue. 8) Wolverine back get pierced by wood despite having a skeleton made of that stuff. Also stops healing for no reason - we saw earlier in the film that bullets and wounds were still healing albeit slowly.

9) Action was great at start but got tedious. Also too many close ups, wasn't very clean shots by the end. Hopefully, these points highlight the objective flaws of the film. Logan is still a good film, but to say it's best Xmen film would be doing a disservice to X2 and Days of Future Past (and maybe First Class).

When I left the theater I did not take a thought from my head: " Missed Salt." Do not get me wrong, I'm a fan of Wolverine (HQs) and the movie has great moments, which I even imagined, with wit in some lines, funny ones and the courage to show the legendary characters in decadence. But on the other hand I can not stop thinking that some elements of the story could be much better. If I could talk to the creative or script team to be able to suggest everything I think and that could have improved the film (in humility). I'll segment:
1. The villains are weak and shallow and the clone did not interest me. First of all, to replace the doctor "I do not know who" by Dr. Sinister, the whole story could have revolved around a very evil scheme of Dr. Sinister, the virus or whatever it was that had decimated the mutants, etc. .
2. Instead of the clone, it could have been a robot equal to Wolverine, an equal cyborg in the comics. Or an alternative was also to have used Wolverine's son: Daken.
Daken is bloodthirsty, “blood in the eyes”, he could have killed all that family in the same way without remorse, but I do not think he would be easily controlled like the Clone.
3. The end was rough, the mutant powers of the children, so ... "childish" ... if they were what was left of the mutants, experiment with the blood of Jean Gray or Magneto, what I mean, more powers Cool and "Ice breath", etc ...
4. The son of Wolverine could be an experiment too and could have escaped before or have an appearance that warranted a future film with the X-23 and the latest mutants, or a fight between "family." I just know that, it would generate another huge Hype.
Otherwise the movie holds the tips ! Oh and it's kind of dead in the end, it did not move me and I just thought I'd end it.

Every single bad guy is a white man who is terminated violently. There's a farming family in plaid, who are black instead of white. The main baddy is a blue eyed man with a British accent. There's a rainbow coalition of children to save. And because they can't quite yet portray preteen LGBTQTx2 characters, they are named the "Transigen" kids who wear t-shirts with rainbows on them... the overall lesson is for Wolverine to teach a feral young woman (who of course is the world's most powerful fighter, weighing in at 85lbs) to be compassionate, but not a single white male is spared their life. Hamfisted political dreck at its worst, a boring story at best. I love Wolverine but this is just as overrated and stupid as The Dark Knight Rises, with slightly less plot holes and dumber politics. Far more interested in virtue signaling than telling a good story. Predictable through and through. Missed opportunities in both fight choreography and tone. The setting in nonsense. Doesn't fit in with the world set up in the other X films. No better than the first movie, and worse than the second. Jackman saves it from being a fail. More humorous than expected. Meh. Hollywood in continued decline. Lowest common denominator moralizing abounds. Expand

The premise basically suggests that all the X-Men efforts from previous movies amounted to little, if anything. That pretty much makes the earlier X-Men films moot, and seem a bit pointless - Logan is a very nihilistic statement on the X-Men characters and past X-Men movies.

The writing of Logan was pretty bland, and the characters were very limited in their personalities. The visual spectrum was very limited, and so was the amount of action. There was also a lack of mutant stuff.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My son and I left this movie feeling somber and depressed. Granted, I like Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart performances. They did the best they could do with the content. The movie is dark, brooding and rather slow during the middle half. It seems as though the entire purpose of the movie was to say goodbye to 2 people. So it portrays them as old, weary and ready to fissile out. Personally, I prefer to see my favorite characters in their prime and going out with a bang rather than worn out and beaten down at the end. The girl had nothing to say for most of the movie which makes it hard to relate to or care for what happens to her. I like to have fun when I go to an X-Men movie and this was far from that. It's too bad that the movie couldn't be fun and then killed off my favorite characters. Unlike other X-Men movies, I hardly expect that I will want to see this movie again. I guess I had too high expectations for this film. Expand

As someone who appreciated most other recent xmen and wolvering movies I have to say this movie was very mediocre, the story was as uninteresting as it gets, Logan is now a Nurse/Carer for Xavier who suffers from Alzheimer when out of nowhere this horrible and annoying mexican girl shows up on the run from some evil white guys that want to take her away and do horrible things to her because reasons, even though they already have a copy of Logan. If being a Nurse and a nanny wasn't enough for the wolvering he is also dying and he doesn't give a damn because reasons, Xavier now seems perfectly fine with having a family killed just so he can chill at their place for a night and the nonsense goes on everything is so out of character that I don't even know what else to say, save yourself the money stay home. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The short story: Went in with high expectations, ended up disappointed, as the film was a slow burn and has too many clichés.
>
What's it like?: It’s 2029 and Wolverine/Logan is aging, which shouldn’t be because he’s supposed to be immortal. Prof X is dying and losing control of his mind power. A young girl, Laura, who has the same abilities as Logan, comes into their lives. They try to escape to Canada because Laura is wanted by hired men of Transigen, a genetics research company. It is a very violent road movie.
>
Pros: The path the film takes, where two major X-Men characters could be killed off, is brave and noteworthy. The acting, in general, is also good.
>
Cons: >
1. While the film tries to portray Logan’s and Laura’s fights as realistically as possible, it comes off very violent and in some areas, unnecessarily so.
>
2. Cliché #1: When trying to capture a person who has blades in their hands and has an accelerated healing ability, do send in a bunch of regular soldiers without any special weapons. >
3. Cliché #2: While on the run from murderous chasers, do accept the kindness of a family to stay overnight at their home and do risk them getting killed.
>
4. Laura’s initial muteness, mid-film speeches in Spanish and speeches in another language in the final third of the film are inconsistent and they were not explained.
>
5. The supposed motivation behind Transigen use of excessive numbers of soldiers just to capture Laura is not well explained, particularly if you consider what is revealed in the final third of the film. Too much focus on just one person.
>
6. Richard E. Grant’s character, the supposed arch-villain, was insufficiently developed and was killed off too easily. He should have some kind of an ace-in-the-hole to avoid dying so easily.
>
7. The film is slow in many parts, thereby making it less of an action film. This could disappoint a lot of people. Estimated US Box office takings: $150m.
>
8. Cliché #3: When the situation turns grim, a couple of people would pluck up their courage and chip in with their special abilities to defeat their common enemy, whereas they were not keen to use their abilities before this. >
How would the different age groups rate it?
Children: (The film is not rated for them)
Teenagers: For those who can see this R-rated, it’s an Average. Young adults: Average
Medium age adults: Average
Old adults: Poor
My rating: 3/5 (no half scores). Save your money and watch it on TV.

No longer are the mutants considered human, but tools. Although one is not yet a part of this fascist organization to redeem hope to America. He is the long-lasting hero who we have looked up to for over fifteen years, the one who we have experienced many highs and lows with, the one who Hugh Jackman is now making his adieu to, yes, he is Logan, or as some would know him, Wolverine.

But it’s not all fun and games anymore, with a crisp, well-earned R rating to match the red on dust violence this franchise needed. Director James Mangold (Kate & Leopold, Walk the Line) makes the most of Logan’s legacy with the bloodiest action you’ll see this spring. Especially with the backdrop upon the Mexican border, this gritty view of classic comic books feels more like a modern day western than a popcorn flick.

Logan’s first mode of action is taking down several immigrants attempting to steal one of his hubcaps. Then he receives a request from an unknown Mexican woman, demanding he escorts a little silent girl named Laura to North Dakota. His motivation for this is low, until three motivations erupt. One, he watches an upsetting video of mutant children in hospitals forcefully trained to become soldiers as if in a concentration camp. Two, she is one of these mutant children. Three, she is his daughter. So now with her on the road with him as well as Professor X, Logan learns his responsibility to punish those who neglect the gifts of these mutants.

While the overall look of this journey looks nice, cinematographer John Mathieson (Gladiator) constantly sets up horrible lighting arrangements that make the backgrounds lighter than the subject’s face. It becomes especially problematic, I might add, when he films the action scenes super up close, with nothing but a forgettable musical score to back it up. This is not the only thing that hurts the tension of the action scenes, but the aftereffects of the turmoil are weak, with no thanks to the unconvincing makeup effects. If you don’t believe me, look at the albino man who serves as Logan and Professor X’s personal assistant: The pale texture of his skin looks plastered on from at most ten minutes in the makeup chair.

At least that’s a minor complaint. Compare that to the stellar performances by Dafne Keen and Patrick Stewart, and this may just as well be the greatest achievement based off a Marvel comic. Stewart in particular steals the show with his aged, frail curtain call of a presence that just disorients your expectations further whenever he gets a seizure.

With such a humble grandfather figure here to ground us into the foundation of this world, it’s too bad that there’s nothing else in the backdrop to give us a sense of Mexico’s and Texas’ true culture. The latest Academy Award nominee Hell or High Water delved quite a bit into this culture, but the closest that Logan gets to in creating the social pressures is a brief moment in a casino, and a villain with a really bad accent. Nothing else about the look of this world looks authentic enough to buy into.

The other moral implications are also quite problematic. We all can understand that bloody adult-rated violence can lead to viewers imitating it in real life, but judging by the character of Logan as a father, he takes several actions that make me question whether he’s worth looking up to as a role model. Shortly after he brings in his daughter to escort her, she robs from a convenience store (since she grew up in a hospital and thus doesn’t know any better). While he does discipline her for attacking the clerk who tries to stop her, he robs from the store himself—and in a moment that is mostly played for laughs. Is this really the role model people should be looking up to?

But then again, this type of gritty realism proves just how far superhero movies, and superheroes in general, have come since their rising popularity. All three of the protagonists: Logan, Laura, and Professor X, learn what it means to live in this wild frontier known as the United States, as represented by the professor’s favorite motion picture, the classic western Shane.

While he may not have always been the perfect sort of hero for us to look up to over the years, it has been a great pleasure having Logan around to entertain and teach us about what’s really worth fighting for. So long, Wolverine. Thank you for your endeavors over the years, and thank you for leaving a strong legacy for the upcoming generation of mutants at heart.

I think the creators had a bet to see how many claw-through-the-head shots they could cram into a single film. One or two would be cool, but thirty makes it seem desperate for attention.

The amount of growls and yells by Jackman outnumbers the amount of spoken sentences through out and I think that is a big issue. Old Man Logan is such an original comic and they did a poor job translating it to film. This should have been a more dialogue heavy film and it wasn't. They switched the dialogue for action and while that may sell a bit more tickets, It robs us of what could have been the crown jewel of the X-Men series.

Case in point - Patrick Stewart was fantastic as a old and fading Professor Xavier and I felt he was the best part of the film. I would have liked to see more of him on screen because he stole every second of the short time he was in the film. Jackman was solid but I do think he was a tad bit overrated because this is his final time portraying the character as nearly 20 years doing so.

The action scenes were ok but they did a poor job with the CGI and things were very noticeably fake during said scenes. Like when Logan is impaled on the tree branch. I just found it funny that they put so much emphasis on the action and do such a poor job at it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh, how desperately I wanted to enjoy this movie, but alas, I was disappointed. I want to start off by saying I am not criticizing this film because of some petty fanboy war going on in the comic book world right now, and I hope fans of this movie won't simply dislike this review because of the yellow score, and will listen to the critiques I give it.

Let's start with the positive aspects. The acting in this was fantastic. Hugh Jackman gives a powerhouse performance. The girl who plays X-23 is great for the little amount of lines she is given. I will watch just about anything with Patrick Stewart in it, and his performance didn't disappoint. Second, Emotionally, this film rocks. The connections between characters are strong, and there are some genuinely touching moments (especially towards the end of the second act, and the entire third).

Now the cons. First, the violence in the film. Violence in movies should ALWAYS have a decent justification to be there. Whether to entertain, or provide drama and tension. "logan" could have very well have been toned down (Even to the point of being PG-13) and it would have been just as (or more) entertaining. In the tension/Drama department is where this film kind of screws itself. Because the entire film is soaked in blood, the climax is somewhat deflated and lacking in tension. Nothing about the "final battle" seems more dire or desperate than other tussles in the film. We see the wolverine get viciously torn up in a scene taking place on a farm, and nothing seems more dangerous or threatening in the last fight. In fact, you barely feel concerned for the characters at all, because the nemesis in the fight during the resolution was one they already encountered, and survived earlier. On top of that, the villains in this film are severely lacking, mainly because they're all cliches. One is an evil scientist, One is a clone of Wolverine (Cough* Terminator 2 *Cough), and one is a leader of a big bad government agency, the kind that we've seen in countless films like the Bourne trilogy, transformers 4, and other spy themed adventures. Lastly, the action scenes in "Logan" become boring and tedious after two hours. In most action movies there are things to help the audience differentiate one action scene from another. Take The "Mission: Impossible" series for instance. In "Rogue nation" one scene takes place at the opera, on a catwalk. Another on a plane taking off. Another underwater, in which the hero has to hold his breath while completing a task. Unfortunately Logan is not like this. Each action scene is the same. Guns and Claws. Guns and Claws. The location of the fights may change, but the circumstances don't. There are no obstacles that force the characters and action to adapt to their surroundings. It's just a slash-fest.

Overall, I'll probably see it again, because I enjoyed the parts between the characters. It's just a shame that in the mean time I have to endure 2 hours of tedious and grueling face stabbing.

Logan was a great movie. It would've been so much more enjoyable if it hadn't been so hyped up, I was looking forward to watching this as I thought it'd be a different superhero film but the only thing that is different is the fact that it's R-Rated.

The main draw of this movie is that it's not PG-13. It's a breath of fresh air for the superhero genre, otherwise the rest of the movie is just okay. (there is one bit of absolutely fantastic CGI)

Days of Future Past exists, we never needed this. It’s contrived, boring, and internally inconsistent.

Nobody would be talking about this movie if not for the R rating. Seriously, try to find one review for this movie that doesn’t mention

You get comic-book movie goers proclaiming it the "greatest superhero movie ever"..but yet it is just an OK film, nothing special in any way, it just varies from the silly level of most superhero films. As a film itself, it was just OK. A little slow, still a silly superhero movie with the action parts, and nothing fantastic, but nothing terrible either. It was just..OK. I did like how it was a grittier version of Logan, which reminded me of some of the comics I read as kid, but..the story was still cheesy at times and too-predictable. Just because a film has art-house qualities..and superhero fans do not watch such films..does not make this film some kind of "masterpiece". It was just OK. Expand

From the picture to the picture, the potential of the Wolverine character remains unrealized, the stories always trivial and the new film has become no exception. The whole picture will have a maximum of 10 minutes of action scenes, all the rest is Logan's self-reflection. The picture is not saved by the excellent performance of Patrick Stewart and Dafne Keen, Hugh Jackman, on other side, is also good, but to watch at his sad face in every Wolverine movie is painful. Sadly, but film is boring and protracted to infinity, all the fun is shown in the trailer. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. No idea Why it's so highly voted... Seems you can't trust the critics anymore.
It's got no memorable characters aside from the little girl which is cool right up until she opens her mouth. Also there are many things that bug me such as the fact that They drive around for god knows how long in a run down, bullet-ridden car... no one noticed, ok but that's a really dumb move on Logan's part considering the urgency of getting everyone safe to a new location. Also why is the black kid fat? They were raised in a controlled environment, which means that every aspect of their survival and upbringing was controlled, including food.
Also, no mutant enemies and the history up until what happened to Logan and Charles is just not there... Even the Adamantium Poisoning is not explained at all and isn't a good move if you ask me ... also considering When he got Adamantium implanted into him.... Well the girl has much less time then before it kills her.

Anyway.. an "OK" movie at best.

Logan, I feel, is a tad overrated and not as good as everyone is making it to be. Sure, it's not bad, but I feel it doesn't deserve all the praise. I couldn't help but be disappointed when the credits rolled.

Characters: I honestly didn't get the whole "he's so pained and tortured, and it's easy to forget this is a superhero movie because of the character development." Superhero movies still have character development. Maybe some don't have the best, but it's still there. And while I do admire this movie for focusing more on the characters and their problems, I didn't feel for Logan a whole lot all the time. Sure, I know he was sad and could tell the pain he was in that he'd accumulated throughout his life. But he was just kind of grumpy and sad and acted the same. One thing I did like about the movie was that Wolverine and most characters didn't need some long monologue or anything describing how sad they are. You know the pain they're going through. What I'm trying to say is that I don't think this movie deserved AS much praise for its character substance. Sure, the movie pulled it off pretty well, and for a superhero movie it's good I guess, but it didn't blow me away.

Acting: The acting is very good. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart both do an excellent job portraying the older, more pained versions of themselves. You could really tell the difference between them in older movies and them in this movie. They really showed that they are pain and are suffering. Dafne Keen was also good, though she didn't get to do much in terms of acting range until the end.

Action: I was never a huge fan of Wolverine's action, as it gets kind of repetitive. Pretty much all of his killing sprees are "stab stab stab stab stab stab, get shot, stab stab, get shot again, stab stab stab, cut off arm, stab stab stab, slit throat, stab stab stab." I'm not saying it wasn't well done, as the action scenes were sort of cool and darker than the past. However, it got kind of boring as it does with most of his action scenes. The best parts of the action scenes were the parts with choreography, like Laura running and jumping off his back and landing on a guy, or Laura using her foot blade and becomes more acrobatic when fighting, like Black Widow. Stuff like that added more diversity to the otherwise repetitive action.

Plot: It's basically just a 2 hour and 20 minute chase scene. This doesn't mean it's a bad movie, but I was hoping for a bit more, and it wasn't even a super exciting chase plotline. At least a movie like Mad Max: Fury Road, which was basically a long chase scene, just had non-stop, well-done and perfectly executed action sequences, where this movie has inconsistent parts throughout, slowing down the movie. When he meets the family halfway through, the entire momentum of the story just stops for 20 minutes. There also wasn't really a definitive bad guy. I'm guessing this was because they wanted to focus on Logan and the characters more, which I don't have a problem with, but then I didn't really have anyone to go against. I wanted more motivation for Logan to escort Laura. Sure, he wants to do something good and she's his daughter of course, but if there was a more defined bad guy, even just a few more minutes distinguishing a villain, I would feel more like "yeah Logan! Go get Laura to wherever they're going! I want you to beat that guy!" or something. Instead I just feel like "ah, just kill this guy that looks like Ryan Gosling who's supposed to be a villain and get to wherever you're going" instead.

Overall, Logan is a bit slow at times with not much to compensate for. I must say I had high expectations from the pretty high ratings from critics and very positive reviews from fans and friends. Unfortunately, Logan did not live up to those expectations. I guess I would recommend it because a basic fan of superhero movies would probably like it since so many did. It wasn't a complete waste of time, and I may have given it a 7 if I didn't have such high expectations.

For many of us who were watching the 90's X-Men animated series - although he wasn't the strongest of Professor X's team - Wolverine was by far the top favorite X-Men hero among kids at kindergarten, because he simply looked badass in his yellow suit, but also stubborn as Batman.
In 2000, Hugh Jackman has been announced to play Wolverine in the first X-Men movie. 17 years and nine movies later, Jackman signed his "last movie as Wolverine" entitled 'Logan'.

Logan's first trailer instantly caught my eye: its serious tone and darker take, the likes of The Dark Knight, Daredevil and Watchmen to name a few, is about to become a new standard, in a world where comic book movies are labelled by default as Hollywood blockbusters or family entertainment. Here in 'Logan', the first and second don't qualify. The movie is extremely violent compared to the other X-Men movies, if not more than any comic book adaptation released so far, and it was shot to look like an independent low budget type of movie.

First thing I noticed after watching 'Logan': it's a movie based on the X-Men franchise... without really wanting to be based on it (?). Simply said: I feel like it was only a X-Men by the name. Basically, you could remove any X-Men reference to 'Logan' and you're practically going to get the same movie. This is a dangerous zone because the only thing that such X-Men association will do onto an independent type of movie, is to build expectations towards the X-Men part of the movie, which was clearly lacking in 'Logan'.

The originality and the will to make a different movie has to be considered. This is what holds th house of cards together, along with a state of the art direction. The project initiated from that idea.

Then, passed its unique independent movie aspects and serious tone, the movie lacks in continuity and story. You will find the movie long, very very long to watch. Not that because the movie is actually long (2:20), but because the script is rather weak. Story-wise, which is influencing the script, it also fails to justify several scenes, leading to a few incoherencies; towards the end of the movie, we still have questions regarding Laura (Logan's daughter) and Charles Xavier. There were important questions asked throughout the movie and we don't really get the answers.

My feeling after watching the movie is that, overall, the director does seem to have a lot of experience in everything X-Men and big budget movies, but no experience at all when the time comes to shoot more serious independent movies type. I believe you should watch it with no expectation. It's not a good X-Men, but a good movie nonetheless. The psychology and profoundness of this movie is by far superior than any other Marvel.

To this, we can't be more thankful to Hugh Jackman for having greatly played a comic book character the longest - 17 years as Wolverine, quite an achievement. His last interpretation is certainly one for the books.

This is the Wolverine movie I have ever wanted just not as good as it could have been. I loved the fact that this movie is really violent and has a lot of curse words and it is a grittier, more realistic, darker portrayal of the Wolverine. This movie defies genre conventions to the extreme but maybe that serves as a bad point too. Maybe I am just not used to see a Wolverine movie with an R rating and such brutal violence but a lot of people think this is an vantage point. Hugh Jackman is great in this movie and you get to see him portray the Wolverine in a whole new way. The movies plot is kind of dumb and when I really thought about it , a lot of the things that happened didnt really seem to make sense and for the tone this movie is going that has got to be the worst thing they could have posibly done. So youre telling me that when Logan is watching that video of the kids on the phone, she edited that just for Logan to watch it and bee like "now the audience gets what was happening in that Hospital", seriously, and how did the people at the Hospital didnt notice a person filming their clearly illegal activities. For example the little girl only says a word almost at the end of the movie and there is no reason for her not to be talking during the rest of the movie. So all and all this movie is good and I am sure a lot of people will love it but it is just not for me. Expand
