Without question one of the better movie adaptations of a video game series. Definitely grossly underrated, as far as critic reviews go. For me, it's kind of a classic to be honest, like the female version of Indiana Jones.

While 2001's Tomb Riader got away with being an accidental success (and one of the few decent videogame movies in my opinion) it's sequel hasn't aged so well. Cradle if life comes across as a studio cash grab with an assortment of cookie cutter characters, a weak muguffin filled plot and god awful fight choreography/action scenes. This is a real lackluster effort in film making quality terms. Money pours from the seams of this expensive rush job where I feel the character deserved a better outing. Overall I get the feeling everyone involved in the project put their heart into it but the studio pushed it out to make a quick buck while the memory of the first was strong in the audiences mind.… Expand

It is an O.K. movie and good adaptation. It captures the essence of the games. However it is not good enough to be a masterpiece or even get a sequel. For me it is weaker than the prequel. It does not connect with me or lets say it creates not the emotions and impact. If feels like moving on a “To do” list at times. For itself it is a chase around the world were again the ultimate price awaits at the end. The acting is good. Angelina Jolie and Gerard Butler deliver their respected roles. The antagonist are menacing. The sets are good and the soundtrack is fitting. I think I said already everything here. Overall a watchable movie but not remember-able enough. Most people and even fans have forgotten that it exist.… Expand

Way better than 1st one it was entertaining!the music was amazing,visuals were great and CGI was little good although shark CGI was terrible,the acting was great new characters were amazing the villain and lover,the hacker and caretaker wereWay better than 1st one it was entertaining!the music was amazing,visuals were great and CGI was little good although shark CGI was terrible,the acting was great new characters were amazing the villain and lover,the hacker and caretaker were fun to watch,the story was decent and screenplay was good,the action scenes were awesome and the stunts and gadgets were amazing,starting intro with water bike was amazing and the underwater investigation was great but the Shark scene and the punch was like what the F@$k it was Cheesy and lame and way too over the top,the shootout at mall and then skydive it was amazing,the Pandora adventure was engaging and fun the last act was amazing the supernatural creatures fight was great although little over the top but surprisingly amazing and the Cradle scene it was awesome the upside down cave and fight in between resulting in disturbing defeat to villain and little sad as per love it was amazing then the groom scene it was funny end,overall entertaining movie although it can be more exciting if it was more puzzled more mysteries and more suspenseful and adventurous but it was better than the cheesy prequel,awesome movie!… Expand

Den 2. Teil fand noch etwas schöner als der erste. 10/10 * Mir hat es sehr gut gefallen das es so viele verschiedene Orte gab. Die Kämpfe waren recht cool. Angelina passt einfach als Lara Croft. :-))

Man, why won't people know that game-adapted movies don't have the capacity to become equal as those from the pure brain? "The Cradle of Life" is a very appropriate example and solution for my statement. Again, good movie. Critics don't know anything about Lara Croft. They should make some research before doing an article, you know, like all journalists are supposed to do.

As far as big, dumb popcorn movies go the first Tomb Raider was a decent ride that was ultimately held back from blockbuster greatness by a relatively uninteresting first half that took far too long setting things up. Unburdened by the need to introduce viewers to it's heroine and how she operates however, this sequel wastes no time in getting right to the globetrotting action and it's a better experience because of it. Something that is also in no small part due to how much grander and more beautiful the adventure is to boot.

The shootouts are bigger, the visuals prettier, and Croft is given more acrobatic sequences that feel like they were ripped straight from the games. There's even a greater variety to the set pieces as Lara takes a page from spy thrillers to do things like infiltrate her foe's corporation and battle through its secret laboratory before getting back to the Indiana Jones, beat-the-bad-guy-to-the-relic style hijinks you'd expect. The plot may have only gotten more ludicrous as a result, but given the nature of the narratives found in the source material it's not something I really take issue with.

In fact, about the only thing Cradle of Life does wrong is trying to establish a serious love interest for its protagonist in the form of an old flame portrayed by Gerard Butler. On top of giving Lara anything more than a casual flirt kind of cheapening one of the aspects that makes her so special (her independence), "Terry Sheridan" isn't exactly a likeable character. He's one of those macho jerk stereotypes and there's such a dissonance between his and Lara's personalities that the chemistry between Jolie and Butler that would have been necessary to sell the romance is nowhere to be found.

Still, this minor shortcoming does little to hinder the fun. At the end of the day, there may be thousands of alternatives out there with more depth and braincells, but next to none of them have as exciting a female lead as this one. It's a shame Angelina Jolie had no interest in making another one. This is a role she was born to play and the improvements that were made here boded well for a potential trilogy or more. While the Croft mantle has found a fine successor in Alicia Vikander, there's no secret that there was something special about the Maleficent star's take that no other actress will be able to match even though the films themselves were flawed.

This movie trueley represent what were the old Tomb Raider games about:A sexy and very confident protagonist wondering around the world and try being funny with her partners.It is obviously very underrated by "chritics" who are not even able to express why they gave 0 for the movie.There should be really a bad plot, acting and quality in any other aspects for example music or photography.It's not a ten in my book but i am compelled to give it a 10 because of the unfair reviews.… Expand

It derails when the gang reaches the title Cradle of Life, where they encounter shadow demons and a realm where physics don't apply. The ending is lifted almost entirely from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, including the decision about what to do with Pandora's Box. And in the end, Lara Croft, just like the audience, doesn't really care what's happened, who's been hurt or if the world has been saved. It was just another day at the office for this video game heroine.… Expand

A waste of time, this film was made to make money.

Although not entirely bad, I reasonably swallowed the first film. This was a lot more difficult. The story is much more imaginative and, therefore, it was even more difficult to have logicA waste of time, this film was made to make money.

Although not entirely bad, I reasonably swallowed the first film. This was a lot more difficult. The story is much more imaginative and, therefore, it was even more difficult to have logic for me. The script is essentially based on the search for the mythical Pandora's Box. Lara has the support of the British Secret Service and must reach the box before a dangerous villain.

If the first film was based entirely on the action scenes and the script was designed to support them, in this film this is even more evident, with the added fact that the action is much more boring and cliché than in the first film and the script is more than secondary. Even if those who watch these films are not looking for any revolutionary masterpiece, it would have been nice to see that some attention was paid to the script and there was a concern to make a decent story. But not. When trying to repeat the formula used in the first film without adding anything new or different or even better, the film resented and shows signs of wear, like a car that has not been seen by a mechanic in ten years. The film continues to be fast and the fighting action scenes follow each other without causing more than a few yawns to the audience. Bad boys, monsters, supernatural situations, we have it all. Only aliens and Indians from the West are missing. The ending is uninteresting, uses a lot of obvious and unrealistic CGI and never surprises or surprises us.

Angelina Jolie managed, with the previous film, to reach stardom and a sex symbol status that would open doors for more mature works. She also made a lot of money from these two films. However, after a good performance in the first film, in this one she does not do more than she needs to do to justify her salary. The support cast remains practically reduced to existence, so it is easy for Jolie to stand out, especially with those clothes making her breasts and legs stand out.

If the first film was still worth seeing, this film was made only to profit from the success of the first. Bored, cliché, sometimes confusing, it is not worth the time wasted watching.… Expand
