As a punchy portrait of a young woman railing against a dreary future, Köln 75 is diverting and entertaining. As a portrait of a singular artist who pushed at the boundaries of his form, it’s somewhat less accomplished. Here is a niche drama about one of the most important chapters in the history of experimental jazz. It is however watchable, well acted and avoids the music-movie cliches – though I could have done without the fourth-wall-breaking lectures about the nature of jazz improvisation. Read full review
