Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was a disappointment in every level. It may not be the worst of the series, in fact it's the best looking one, but the plot is stinky winky. Still a negative review though.

Ok, I get the hate, but it's not as bad as other people say it is, the first half when theyre on the island with the valcano is really good, but as soon as they get to the auction, it's all downhill from there.

But whereas 2 goes from great to meh, this film goes from men to bad. The plot of this movie is so insanely terrible that it effectively destroyed the entire franchise. There are a couple neat sequences here and there, but the second half of this movie is laughably bad. Dominion is more consistently bad, but this might be the worst one specifically because of the direction it took the series. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like this film…

80/100

I only ever hear bad things about this movie, some argue it’s the worst of all 5/6 (not seen dominion yet) but I disagree I sat there watching this film wondering how long it’d take me to be bored or remember why this film isn’t liked. There’s a few goofy moments like when Miles has the money going up in his glasses reflection but apart from that and the character of Franklin, the movie isn’t really goofy or annoying. The final fight scene with the Indoraptor and the protagonists is a bit boring, I’ve never really liked it, I think it’s just the setting, plus the inconsistencies with the Indoraptor’s ‘heightened’ sense of smell and other attributes it allegedly has but doesn’t use.

Overall I like this movie more than Jurassic World, it feels like a remake of The Lost Word, and as it sets up the final film in the saga, it does well enough for me to warrant a high rating.

I put Fallen Kingdom at number 3/5 (excluding dominion for now, will revisit after I see the film later) behind the original and The Lost World.

A. Bayona took the director chair now, it seems like he was the one the supposed to do the whole next Jurassic World movie, not only it feels and look different, the characterisation that he direct make me feel completely different with all the character especially Owen and Claire, i really into them in this one, they both are much better and i can say great, really really great, and thank god we did not have another boring child character like in the previous one, we now got Franklin and Zia who both work with Claire, they some type of Hacker and all that stuff related to computer, and they both are just entertaining, not boring, and their appearance was pleasant to me, especially Franklin who i really really like and enjoy, and of course the last one is the return of Jeff Goldblum, he didn't got a lot of part, but he was already making it better, the first half of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is perfect, it fills with a fantastic action scene or more of like escaping scene, all the dinosaur are much better CGI than the last one, the final act of the movie was kinda a bit of a let down for me, it's not bad, it just somehow lost a bit of a excitement, but still overall Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a big and huge pleasant improvement from the last one, this is the real exciting continuation of the Jurassic Park/World franchise. This sequel however was NOT so great. The fact that a lot of the movie doesn't even take place on the island made no sense, the characters were too generic and the "Evil corporation guys" were just too comical for me. The previous film was good, so why not try the next part. Well, I got more or less exactly what I wanted. I even expected that the previous film would not surpass it, but in the end the film became the same quality for me as the previous part. The story is again no glory, no masterful music, but the event here is again and is luxurious again. Of course, dinosaurs look gorgeous, and this series simply relies on CGI, which is number one. So if you liked the Jurassic World of the previous one, I see no reason why the Extinction of the Empire shouldn't have, even though my friend was crazy about dinosaurs, with whom I was in the previous film, he didn't enjoy it so much anymore. So if this is a worse part, it's hard to say. But for me, this is as good a film as the previous one, which I can recommend. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you asked me to describe any of the characters in the original Jurassic World beyond their one-note personality quirks, I'd come up completely blank. If you were to ask me to describe the characters in Fallen Kingdom, however, I could go on forever. Claire Dearing is the Dr. Frankenstein of the film; passionate, proactive and blinded by her own ambitions, hubris and sense of righteousness. Her entire reputation, everything she's grown into since the events of Jurassic World, any chance she has at personal redemption for the lives lost on Isla Nublar 3 years ago, hinges on her saving the animals she once viewed as nothing more than corporate assets. She is driven by her emotions (Particularly her deep seated personal guilty), passions and code of ethics rather than merely plot convenience or cold, unconditional logic as was the case in the original Jurassic World. This makes her character far more relatable and human and her errors in decision making a lot more forgivable and understandable. Her arc from self-tortured and arrogant martyr to willing and humble hero is handled with a surprising degree of subtlety that not many critics have given her credit for. Owen Grady also benefits from a stronger characterization in Fallen Kingdom, we get to see more of his relationship with Blue and understand why and how he formed such a strong relationship with her. Fallen Kingdom does an excellent job establishing Owen as a man outside of and uncomfortable with the civilized world, exhausted with the pretensions and self righteousness of his fellow human beings. The honesty, trust and unconditional love he's shared with Blue since birth means the world to him and his love for her is the one thing he has left that's truly worth fighting for. Because the cast is playing actual characters this time around rather than merely hollow archetypes, the performances improve tenfold. Bryce Dallas Howard is allowed to be confident, fervent and passionate in her vocal delivery. Chris Pratt is allowed to be emotionally vulnerable and nuanced in his facial acting.

Even the dinosaurs have more character here than they had in Jurassic World; Blue's mini-arc of feeling distrust and abandonment from Owen to repairing their broken relationship is certainly more character development than any terrible lizard of Jurassic Park movies prior and the Indoraptor has both an odd sense of tragedy and unique, slasher villain-esque aesthetic that give her a real sense of identity that the Indominus Rex lacked.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom possesses possibly the most striking and memorable aesthetic of any Jurassic Park film to date. The tone feels deliciously Gothic horror inspired with some beautifully chilling and dark imagery that really captures the feeling of terror and majesty held in the Crichton books. In an age where so many Hollywood blockbusters are so unbearably dull in their visuals, Fallen Kingdom retaining the style of a Gothic monster movie is as refreshing as it is gorgeous to take in. Also, it's definitely worth mentioning than the effects have improved significantly from Jurassic World, in large part due to the combination of CGI and animatronics and the darker pallete.

Finally, I wish to discuss the film's ending and the character of Maisie, both of which have been under heavy scrutiny and both of which I loved. Isabella Sermon is one of the most endearing, ranged and talented child actresses I've seen since Danielle Harris and she does a phenomenal job handling her character's slow and methodical unraveling or her traumatizing origins. Maisie also brings real weight to the film's ethical question and a legitimate argument for why humanity shouldn't let the dinosaurs die. Maisie's creation as a clone was by all means unethical. However, this does not mean that killing or abandoning her would be the responsible decision to such an ethical mistake. This is why Maisie has to be the one to set them free into the world; she understands the ethical mistake behind their creation, but also that the murky ethical circumstances behind them is not necessarily their fault. She has an empathy for these creatures that none of the other humans do. The dinosaurs in Fallen Kingdom having much more in the way of characterization and personality already established the foundation for this argument and Maisie makes that argument all the more difficult to answer.

If you had told me a year ago that I would be praising a Jurassic World sequel as the 2nd best in the entire franchise, I would have called you crazy. But, lo and behold...Here we are. I love this film to the point where I could defend it for hours. I love the themes, I love the performances, I love the characters, I love the effects. I loved it. I loved it. I'll keep saying it if you want me too.

We have dinosaurs breaking walls following whistles, a new super raptor which winks to the camera as it waits to bite an arm off, is only affected by tranquillisers when it wants to be, is seemingly bulletproof. Oh and the other raptor is back and can smell flammable gas and run away from it before it explodes and comes to beat up super raptor because why not and dinosaurs can walk off the effects of toxic gas and understand to leave a building to do so.

Then it ends with us living amongst the dinosaurs despite only a handful ever coming back from the island and with no way of reproducing

Frankly its an insult to the original movie and monumentally stupid

Personally, I don't know how to qualify what I just saw, reflecting a little on the career of J. A. Bayona, who proved to be skilled in films like "The Orphanage". I think a film like this may not be the director's strong suit.

The script is a sequel to the precedent 2015 film: after the closure of the "Jurassic World" and the death of Masrani, the world witnesses the eruption of the volcano on Nublar Island, which puts the laboratory-made dinosaurs in the imminence of a new extinction. So, millionaire Benjamin Lockwood makes an effort to save some specimens and take them to a sanctuary, away from humans. What nobody knows is that there are people interested in the animals never reaching this sanctuary.

Again, we are witnessing a remake of the old formula of the franchise, with dinosaurs on the loose and the failure of all security measures to contain or transport them. Again, we see situations that are very similar to what we have seen in previous films. Again, we feel that everything is empty, meaningless, lifeless and that there is no danger or emotion.

Again we have an irregular cast, but in a worse shape than in the previous film, where the feeling of newness helped to refresh things: Bryce Dallas Howard looks worn and with nothing new to give us, but she is competent in what she does; Chris Pratt did a good job, however he is very much like an Indiana Jones determined to save everyone and everything; James Cromwell is a veteran and does his job well but only appears on time, just like Toby Jones, competent as another opportunistic character. Rafe Spall sounds fake and never seems fully committed, Isabella Sermon exists only to be in danger and to help at the last minute, Ted Levine looks like a sergeant in the military recruit and Jeff Goldblum makes a honour cameo but that's all.

Again, and as a standard of the franchise, the bet goes to the action and danger scenes, as well as technical details, effects and production values. However, even at these points it is not convincing or capable of impressing us. The lack of life and emotion removes the sense of danger from the most intense scenes and the technical details and CGI seem worn out. There is a lot of money involved, but there is nothing really new. The incredible soundtrack is still present and the sets and props are very good. Cinematography is also good, but the color we admire on the previous film is missing. This one, being darker and with many essential scenes in low light environments, looks more foggy.

Betting on the continuation of exhausted franchises, like this one, is usually a mistake that is justified only by the good it usually does to the coffers of the industry and film companies. Thus, there are films that turn out to be true casino machines, ready to take money from the audience in exchange for very little, almost nothing. This is one of those films, and I don't recommend it.

I’m not even comparing it to the original Jurassic Park, no Jurassic sequel could be as awesome as that! No, this movie absolutely pales in comparison to the last movie, Jurassic World! While that movie had a pretty weak story and characters, the action was absolutely thrilling and I regularly rewatch it for that alone. It’s tied with Star Wars: The Force Awakens for my favourite movie of 2015. Fallen Kingdom didn’t have any of that. What little character the first movie had was gone, replaced with cartoon characters with exaggerated and over-the-top personalities, and it was much tamer in comparison. Most of the movie is set in a house and there’s only one dinosaur on the loose! What kind of Jurassic movie is that? That’s like something someone would make up as a joke, making fun of movie series that have clearly run out of ideas! Also, out of all the subplots in Jurassic World to follow up on, why did they choose the weaponized dinosaurs? That was by far the weakest aspect of Jurassic World! It’s stupid and makes absolutely no sense! There’s a lot of that in this movie, it feels like a Saturday morning cartoon! I have to say though, the ending was pretty awesome. I wish I didn’t see literally all of it in the trailers. I’m looking forward to Jurassic World 3, it has a very interesting setup that really makes me wonder why they didn’t just make that movie instead. They could’ve easily skipped over this movie and made the next movie this movie! Anyway, as you can tell, I really didn’t like this one. I don’t recommend it, even if you do like the other Jurassic movies. Expand

Also in all of the mentioned categories it's also too cliche and predictable. Due to it's obvious faults it does not create immersion, and breaks the narrative and coherent storytelling. Lousy execution of scenes, and down right boring action scenes. The truth is that it does create nostalgia but it doesn't help much. The visual effects are really great, and crispy but other than that and the message of the movie, not much can be said for the movie.
Overall it's a below average movie, which in a lot of ways is over valued due to nostalgia. Super cliche movie with cheesy lines and easily predictable story.

The first 20 minutes is good. The setup, when everyone realizes there's a problem and wants to solve it. The rich guy puts up the money, then calls the park manager, who now seems to be in some sort of dinosaur charity. She then goes to get Owen, Chris Pratt, who plays hard to get. It's all people we know and love from last time, and it's pretty entertaining. But when the dinosaur action starts, that's a little too much. The CG creatures look pretty good. But there's just too many of them. There's one particularly ridiculous set-piece where everyone's running from the dinosaurs. And also some lava. There's also giant lava bombs exploding around them. There's also dinosaurs running away from the lava. If that's not bad enough, they all get inside that rolling glass bubble machine and which promptly goes off a cliff into the ocean. And then they're drowning. And then someone's shooting at the glass bubble to try to break it so they can get out. No kidding. I suppose it's exciting. The director seems a little confused. Or not confident in the material. These are good characters. They're conversations are fairly interesting. Let's focus on that. I don't think we need dinosaurs and lava and runaway glass machines and drowning and shooting and stabbing.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a stupid sequel to the horrible Jurassic World movie.

They went for that ridiculous "military dinosaur application" plot again, Dr. Wu made a dinosaur resembling a guided missile with a laser pointer. Not only that, there is an auction of captured dinosaurs in the black market. Also, far more stupid, the SJW plot of saving the dinosaurs from their doom because some fools pretending to be caring people love dinos as if they were cats, dogs and cows. In other words, logic got thrown out of the window and lunacy reigns supreme. In the end, captured dinos are set free and escape in US land just because some kid thinks dinosaurs are little fluffy loving creatures which deserve to live, without thinking that people will die (or rather, let's set up a sequel by freeing the dinosaurs and letting them roam free). Ironically there is a Jeff Goldblum cameo where Ian Malcolm first warns against saving the dinos and then delivers another "don't tamper with Nature" speech, but nobody listens.

The Jurassic World sequel trilogy (a 3rd movie is expected to release in 2021 or so) is an abomination compared to the original Jurassic Park films, and Fallen Kingdom is no exception. Were it not for the plot twist of having the girl being a clone, and for the haunting Brachiosaurus death-by-lava scene, I'd have scored this movie even lower.

For after its first act concludes, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" makes such an unquestionably bold left-turn into gonzo-ville, that I see no conceivable problem with people calling this the worst of the franchise. Those beautiful jungle vistas? Gone. That trademark sense of wonderment? Not here. The musical thematics and cues you've come to love over the years? Keep it moving, pal. This movie's got its own murky, muddled yarn to spin. Is it a terrible movie overall? Not necessarily. The effects are characteristically top notch, with a lot of the set-pieces still inspiring vigor. The acting is fine. The pacing is very rushed (almost as if the people making the movie knew they were just looking to for an excuse to make another series of raptos eating people and t-rexs wrecking some sh!t) but once it gets to the kills it slows down a bit. You can almost tell what every scene is going to entail, and what the plot is going to show next ver batem. It does nothing that the other movies didn't already do to some degrees and the remaining "surprises" are ultimately pointless and uneventful. Still, it has just enough action, humour, and thrills to keep you entertained throughout most of its runtime.

The visuals are decent enough, but still fail compared to that of the original, I wish they had made more copious use of practical effects in this movie, but they fill it with cgi beasties with only a few bittersweet tastes of practical dinos. I can't hlep but look at these creatures and see how they fail compared to the animatronics from the original movie. It seems that no matter how much money hollywood chugs into it, cgi will never be on par to to something actually there. In a few years the cgi will only get more obvious, which is unfortunate.

Pratt's and Howard's performances keep up pace for the most part with only a couple slip ups, not to mention the humour from their interactions being the saving grace when the movie isn't showing dinos mauling something or nostalgia driving, especially the parts where it's being unintentionally funny (such as the T-rex ex machina scenes, which are plenty, almost seeming as if it set to remind the audience who the coolest dino around still is, even challenging Simba (you'll see what I mean))

However, more frustrations come from the uncreative ways the movie tries to build tension or set up dangerous scenes, often through the characters blatant stupidity and/or because the movie demands it.

A good watch, but don't go in expecting it to break new grounds. If you're just in for dinos and thrills, you won't be disappointed.

Easily the most dissapointing 2018 film, although, it is a solid follow up to 2015, Jurassic World. Dumb, fun movie, yet again… The first half was completely outstanding! The opening scene was incredible! And there is a very emotional scene, especially for the fans. On the dock, when they look back and see the original brachiosaur, standing there, crying out in pain. I got really emotional but other than that, the opening and just the first half overall, not a great film.

Set on the fictional Central American island of Isla Nublar, off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, it follows Owen Grady and Claire Dearing as they rescue the remaining dinosaurs before a volcanic eruption destroys it.

The story falls short noticably compared to Jurassic World. The idea to use chasing and jump scare scenes right from the early stage right till the end is not a good one. The novelty does get wears off quickly after a while, and there isn't a good follow up to that. It is common sense to put in such scenes after a series of peaceful starting scenes like what it did on Jurassic World. And the chasing, horror scenes aren't that unique either, not unlike what we have seen in the previous films.

The villains are also very one dimensional sterotypes villians. This and the fairly predictable plots make the film a pretty bad one.

The only reason to watch this film is probably for the sake for catching on with the series. Not a good stand alone movie by itself definitely.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Instead of being a worthy sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is concerned about setting up for another sequel and it fails at being a good movie. In the film, the writing is absolutely terrible with several bad decisions that ruin the franchise. The scene about auctioning the dinosaurs off was awful and made absolutely no sense. Also, the ending was one of the worst I've ever seen that takes the series way too far. Here's where I'm referring to the film setting up for a sequel as the dinosaurs are in our world. That is just going to make a terrible sequel to this movie. In fact, there's even more criticism as most of the characters are completely uninteresting and forgettable. Seriously, the only good thing about this film are the action scenes and visuals, but even some of their choices there are questionable.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has to be one of the worst films of 2018. It's a sequel to a film that is setting up for another sequel. At this point, I'm done watching any new Jurassic World films as the concept has now gone way too far. Please don't watch this film! I don't think that Jurassic Park needed sequels after The Lost World and this is proof. By far, this film has to be the worst in the series.

Each instalment in this long running franchise has become more unrealistic than the last at that is taken to the extreme here. The behaviour of both the humans and the dinosaurs is quite frankly ludicrous and wildly inconsistent from scene to scene and the plot, involving attempts to weaponise dinosaurs, makes no sense at all. Having said all that Fallen Kingdom is still an entertaining movie with two likeable leads and so despite everything I certainly wasn’t ever bored.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is directed by J.A. Bayona, written by Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Rafe Spall.

It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dorma[phent volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who's still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

This is not what I expected to see after watching Jurassic World, cause I liked Jurassic World, but this one... EH!
I'm not saying it was awful, but it wasn't that much good that I expected to see, it disappointed me in so many ways, I didn't like it oe hate it, but still, it has lots of boring moments or scenes, very low performances and slight story.

The boring moments are connected and related to the slight story, cause the story didn't impress me at all, maybe a little when we got closer to the end.

The performances weren't bad, they were just low, except for Chris Pratt, everyone else was joking in very bad times and fake-acted

I also found some good stuff in this movie, the CGI was mistake-less, the story went well and Chris Pratt got me with his very talented performance and I guess that's it!

I have lots of unanswered-questions!
1. How did Eli Mills build his lab beneath the house and no one noticed?
-------------------------------------------------
2. The intelligence of that new dinosaur, how far it can go? Can it go for fun with humans before killing then?
------------------------------------------------
3. How did Owen and Claire got that big bag of blood and the dinosaur woke up very quickly?
------------------------------------------------
4. How far science can go in this movie?
------------------------------------------------

That's all, and good luck with trying to answer these questions!

As I said it's not awful, but it's not good too! For those drops, I'm gonna give Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom a C-.

Okay, guys, thank you as always for reading my review, hope you like, and if you have any comment, please, say it to get improved.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I was a young boy, I found a dinosaur egg. It’s true. A seven-year-old helping my father, Newfoundland’s most proficient Lobsterman, down by the docks. I was skipping stones when I noticed a large, smooth object along the jagged shores of St. Lawrence. What appeared to be a pearlescent rock, but more ovular than any I had ever seen.
I recovered the object only to realize it was a massive egg. One that could only belong to an Ostrich or a similar creature. But we don’t have ostriches in Canada. I showed my father, who cautioned that I put the egg back where I found it. The moral of the story is that sometimes we must temper our curiosity when it comes to dinosaurs, and let nature be. Allowing dinosaurs into modern society would be a very dangerous thing.
Which brings me to the utterly inane plot of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”. In this movie, dinosaur enthusiast and part-time carpenter Chris Pratt is recruited by his ex-lover, Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of Opie, to go back to Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs after the disastrous events of “Jurassic World”. For some reason, Starlord obliges her, and ventures back to save his beloved raptor, Blue.
Look, we all know “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and all the “Jurassic Park” films are only “based on” a true story. Anytime Hollywood says “based on a true story”, you know they are taking major creative liberties with the original material. However, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” took it too far. Even though we can assume that there are scientists out there who can bring dinosaurs back to life, it is totally unrealistic to think that these scientists would do so. Not once, not twice, not three times, but four separate times over the course of the franchise, after suffering innumerable consequences each go-around.
This kind of lazy writing is something I just don’t care for, particularly as someone who had to give up the dream of having a pet dinosaur of my own along the shores of Newfoundland, so many years ago.
Cinematically, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” is the tale of two different flicks. The first half of the movie is a pretty contrived, standard disaster movie, that frankly I was waiting for to end. However, the third act of “Fallen Kingdom” gets rather interesting, and delves into a territory that no Jurassic Park film ever has. There is a scene where billionaires bid upon dinosaurs that is particularly eery and unlike anything in the series. Without spoiling too much, I think the third film of this particular Jurassic Park trilogy is set up for some very interesting, fresh material. It appears to be going in a direction we haven’t seen in this franchise before, and it is exciting.
But on a very serious note, if we don’t stop creating dinosaurs, the ending of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” may not be so much “based on a true story” any longer, but rather will become our own stark reality.

Who in there right mind thought that the most important part of a dinosaur movie were the made up monsters and people? Dinosuars have mabye 20% of the screen time in this movie (if im being generous). These points come primarily from the passable acting of Chris Pratt in this film.

Apart from that it has generaly poor acting, bad effects, next to no storyline and plot, bad story telling, and resides almost completely on your belief in a series of ever increasingly implauasable events.

A pathetic showing and an evident cash grab

Not recommended, just such a waste of time. Expand

In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, theIn an age where narratives of superheroes, animation and science fiction rule the box office, there is one fossil amongst the great big box office contenders that audience just can’t quite enough of. In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the park may be gone, but dinosaurs are definitely here to stay. Fallen Kingdom is the fifth entry in the Jurassic Park film franchise and the second within the Jurassic World trilogy, and while it features the most amount of dinosaurs out of all the previous films, don’t be fooled because the film takes place in only a few very specific locations and features the least amount of dinosaur action out of all of the movies. Yet, despite the very minimal action, the permanent set pieces and of course its fair share of charm and charisma, Fallen Kingdom is a Jurassic film unlike any we have seen before.

Much of this might have to do with the inclusion of the franchise’s newest film director, Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona. Bayona, who has previously directed The Orphanage, The Impossible and A Monster Calls, has quite an imaginative and generous eye when it comes to offering the embellished perspective of children, which, for many people such as myself, would warrant well for a refreshing take on a franchise that has been around for almost twenty-five years and on its fifth entry. Also, given the fact that many people who were first introduced to Michael Crichton’s world of dinosaurs with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993 were only just children or young adults, really plays well with an audience that is all grown up. Luckily for audiences, Bayona allows all of us old, matured, geeked out, nostalgia driven cinephiles to indulge in a film that is both the epitome of blockbuster/popcorn entertainment film, as well as a self-aware and respectable ode to some of our favourite monster movies.

What makes Fallen Kingdom so consuming is the fact that Bayona treats the dinosaurs like monsters for just a couple minutes, but like any good classic monster movies, Frankenstein for example, the monster begins to resonate with audiences and become much more than just visual and visceral entertainment set pieces. For the first time in the cannon of the Jurassic series, the dinosaurs gain as much empathy as any if not more than the human characters we know or have grown to love.

This love for the dinosaurs sets up the very relevant narrative in very pleasing fashion, especially since, the newly created dinosaurs of Jurassic World are threatened by a recently active volcano on Isla Nublar. And while political and government officials all over the world are trying to figure out if these creatures are actually worth saving from extinction…again, this threat allows a chance for redemption for our characters from Jurassic World. In comes in Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the former honcho of the recently closed Jurassic World Amusement Park, who now has a career for the preservation of the dinosaurs species. So when the world decides that they are going to watch and allow the creatures to face their deadly fate, Claire is unexpectedly contacted by Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), the silent partner to John Hammond’s original Jurassic Park. Lockwood’s extraction plan for the dinosaurs is headed by the idealistic pretty-boy Eli Mills (Rafe Spall), whose sharp suits heavily contrasts the safari inspired outfits of all the other human characters. Lockwood, who entrusts Mills with the whole operation, informs Claire that in order for the extraction to be fully successful, it is essential that they retrieve the second smartest creature on the planet next to human beings, Blue the Velociraptor. Yet, as much as they have already tried, capturing Blue seems close to impossible without the help of our Indiana Jones inspired hero Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), who aside from being the best dinosaur wrangler on the planet, also has the advantage of raising blue from infancy.

While Owen, Claire and a few more new faces travel back to the Island, and face dinosaurs, active volcanoes and the basis of Murphy’s law, their efforts to retrieve all the animals from the island are never what it seems.

While Fallen Kingdom does take the dinosaurs our of the park, or in this case the fictional island of Isla Nublar, the looming doom and impending danger of the park is never absent and much of this danger is thanks to the wonderful vision of Bayona as well as a masterful score by Michael Giacchino. Giacchino, who elevates the original John Williams score in ways no one would ever think possible, raises the stakes and sonically charges the world of human eating creatures into a glorious manifestation of wonder and beauty. Fallen Kingdom really allows the composer to stretch his muscles and show why he is one of the best contemporary composers in film today.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just didn't get it. Why didn't Godzilla show up and fight the Jaegers? So much time was wasted on the dumb humans. I wanted to fight kaijus and not be a clone.

The second half felt disappointingly underwhelming compared to the first half, where there was plenty of intensity and excitement.

Vapid and quite awful addition to the series. When I think back to the wonders and storyline of the original Spielberg film, this one just becomes a terrible disappointment.

Worse than the one from 2015. It had some cringe scenes, plot of the movie was weird, and I won't talk about that ending.
Only Chris Pratt did good here.
Not sure if I could recommend watching this movie, although it was a solid one.

The plot is a total mess of predictable tropes, with the only surprises being things that are just too illogical to predict. The characters are all either annoying or completely bland and pointless. Even the modern special effects are largely wasted, because your brain is too busy trying to figure out what the heck is going on to appreciate the visuals. Quite aside from how the film butchers the Jurassic Park IP and how nothing makes sense if you think about it at all, this is just a bad movie that won't keep your attention or keep you entertained, because it will be annoying and confusing you constantly. Really enjoyed this film. The first half provided tones of action and dinosaurs while the second half was suspenseful and very atmospheric. Sets up an intriguing sequel.

To sum this movie up in one sentence, the best thing to describe it is it is mediocre on all fronts. Nothing about it is truly bad, but nothing about it is very good either. Rating - 59%
