Most scenes have a familiarity aspect to them. Better than The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 in my opinion. Not better than Jurassic World though. Ok, I get the hate, but it's not as bad as other people say it is, the first half when theyre on the island with the valcano is really good, but as soon as they get to the auction, it's all downhill from there.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a guarantee for me and my group of friends for another trip to the cinema. The previous film was good, so why not try the next part. Well, I got more or less exactly what I wanted. I even expected that theJurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was a guarantee for me and my group of friends for another trip to the cinema. The previous film was good, so why not try the next part. Well, I got more or less exactly what I wanted. I even expected that the previous film would not surpass it, but in the end the film became the same quality for me as the previous part. The story is again no glory, no masterful music, but the event here is again and is luxurious again. Of course, dinosaurs look gorgeous, and this series simply relies on CGI, which is number one. So if you liked the Jurassic World of the previous one, I see no reason why the Extinction of the Empire shouldn't have, even though my friend was crazy about dinosaurs, with whom I was in the previous film, he didn't enjoy it so much anymore. So if this is a worse part, it's hard to say. But for me, this is as good a film as the previous one, which I can recommend.… Expand

This follows the typical formula: almost non-stop action with people in peril, rescues from unrealistic situations, a child in danger and Pratt's comic charm. There's plenty of outrunning trouble and plenty of PG-13 rated violence. Nothing new here, but the dizzying chases and ample dinos keep it from ever being boring (even though you may roll your eyes at some of the over the top moments).… Expand

Pretty much your standard big blockbuster film. It's the same relatively safe mix of humor, action, spectacle, and some cashing in on our nostalgia that's been popularized by modern superhero flicks. Unlike it's peers however, Fallen KingdomPretty much your standard big blockbuster film. It's the same relatively safe mix of humor, action, spectacle, and some cashing in on our nostalgia that's been popularized by modern superhero flicks. Unlike it's peers however, Fallen Kingdom lacks the lovable characters that make us sit on the edge of our seats during the bigger set pieces even though we know they aren't actually in any real danger. Pratt and Howard return in the lead roles and they are just as bland as ever. Justice Smith is nothing more than comic relief as all he's given to do is freak out and scream anytime something happens. Daniella Pineda is barely in the movie at all.

The dinosaurs are the real stars. Not only is the velociraptor "Blue" better written than any of her human counterparts, but I was surprised to find that these prehistoric beasts are also capable of invoking an actual emotional response from the audience. I'm not lying when I say that there's a scene involving a Brachiosaurus at the end of the movie's explosive first act that almost killed me. Initially I supported the idea of leaving them on the island to die as they are dangerous animals that already went extinct once. Something changed in me upon actually seeing it happen. The movie could have used this to say something incredibly poignant, but just doesn't. Although I'm fairly certain it thinks it does.

Director J.A. Bayona got his start with the well-received, Guillermo del Toro produced "The Orphanage" and that influence can definitely be felt here. There are times where he shot this like a straight up horror film. Particularly whenever the new hybrid dino is onscreen. It's probably my favorite aspect of the movie. I want to make it very clear that none of Fallen Kingdom's issues have anything to do with Bayona's directing. They all stem from Trevorrow and Connolly's script. The duo were able to come up with plenty of exciting scenarios. They just weren't able to fill them with interesting people.

I absolutely love the way the movie ended. It sets the sequel up to go in an incredible new direction and I really hope they just go full dinosaur apocalypse on us. No matter what they choose to do though these characters will need to be reworked. They were able to get away with the underdevelopment of the protagonists last time thanks to the sheer excitement of the series being revived, but Fallen Kingdom has really suffered because of it. This is still a fun time at the theater, but it's also the Jurassic film with the least amount of substance thus far.… Expand

Each instalment in this long running franchise has become more unrealistic than the last at that is taken to the extreme here. The behaviour of both the humans and the dinosaurs is quite frankly ludicrous and wildly inconsistent from scene to scene and the plot, involving attempts to weaponise dinosaurs, makes no sense at all. Having said all that Fallen Kingdom is still an entertaining movie with two likeable leads and so despite everything I certainly wasn’t ever bored.… Expand

For after its first act concludes, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" makes such an unquestionably bold left-turn into gonzo-ville, that I see no conceivable problem with people calling this the worst of the franchise. Those beautiful jungle vistas? Gone. That trademark sense of wonderment? Not here. The musical thematics and cues you've come to love over the years? Keep it moving, pal. This movie's got its own murky, muddled yarn to spin. Is it a terrible movie overall? Not necessarily. The effects are characteristically top notch, with a lot of the set-pieces still inspiring vigor. The acting is fine. Even the story itself -- in an objective, non-Jurassic-Park-related sense -- is worth a listen. It's just so damned strange.… Expand

Pretty much what you'd expect from the next unnecessary entry in a movie. The pacing is very rushed (almost as if the people making the movie knew they were just looking to for an excuse to make another series of raptos eating people andPretty much what you'd expect from the next unnecessary entry in a movie. The pacing is very rushed (almost as if the people making the movie knew they were just looking to for an excuse to make another series of raptos eating people and t-rexs wrecking some sh!t) but once it gets to the kills it slows down a bit. You can almost tell what every scene is going to entail, and what the plot is going to show next ver batem. It does nothing that the other movies didn't already do to some degrees and the remaining "surprises" are ultimately pointless and uneventful. Still, it has just enough action, humour, and thrills to keep you entertained throughout most of its runtime.

The visuals are decent enough, but still fail compared to that of the original, I wish they had made more copious use of practical effects in this movie, but they fill it with cgi beasties with only a few bittersweet tastes of practical dinos. I can't hlep but look at these creatures and see how they fail compared to the animatronics from the original movie. It seems that no matter how much money hollywood chugs into it, cgi will never be on par to to something actually there. In a few years the cgi will only get more obvious, which is unfortunate.

Pratt's and Howard's performances keep up pace for the most part with only a couple slip ups, not to mention the humour from their interactions being the saving grace when the movie isn't showing dinos mauling something or nostalgia driving, especially the parts where it's being unintentionally funny (such as the T-rex ex machina scenes, which are plenty, almost seeming as if it set to remind the audience who the coolest dino around still is, even challenging Simba (you'll see what I mean))

However, more frustrations come from the uncreative ways the movie tries to build tension or set up dangerous scenes, often through the characters blatant stupidity and/or because the movie demands it.

A good watch, but don't go in expecting it to break new grounds. If you're just in for dinos and thrills, you won't be disappointed.… Expand

Not a good movie at all. Ok at best. Definitely worse than Jurassic World. The storyline is also a bit bland and unexciting. Overall, a movie that seemed to show promise, but will disappoint.

A problem with making dark movies is not making it dark but when it becomes dark, dull, lifeless and uninteresting, which is what happened to this film. My expectations were pretty low going in especially judging from the metascore, but I have to say I had alot of fun watching this movie! Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the 5th Jurassic Park movie and the second in the Jurassic World line. The film is directed by J.A. Bayona best known for his work on A Monster Calls. This film is about the main characters from the first Jurassic World trying to save the dinosaurs from going back into extinction, but an evil business man has other ideas for these massive lizards including a plan to create another man made dino, because that turned out so well the first time. I thought the first Jurassic World was fun and enjoyable so I wasn't shocked when it was announced that there was going to be another one. This movie isn't as fun as the first but it's still an all round good film. The scenes on the island are well done, they're brightly lit and full of that wonder that we have come to expect from these Jurassic movies. The third act is suspenseful and action pact. The film unfortunately does have it's fair share problems. The first one being that it focuses a little too much on the morality of concepts that the story presents. This wouldn't be a problem if the was as serious as the problems it presents, but since the film is the latest in line of film that are all supposed to fun action adventures it just comes off as out of place. I mean you do have to glance at the moral questions your concept provides but you shouldn't be making them front and center for the majority of the film. Second the film as a twist in the third act that is unnecessary and barely ties in to the rest of the film. The third problem is that the big bad dino in this film isn't nearly terrifying as the one from first film, in the sense that first was designed to be the perfect killing machine one that could blend with an surroundings and out outwit most humans, but this one does none of those things which leads to a climax that feels lackluster at best. Making me fell like this film is a step back words from the first one. My final Problem is that it feels like no one learned anything from the last film. I mean why would think making another smart dino would be could idea after the first went berserk? Of course that's not to say that this film isn't bad by any meaning of the word. The characters in this film are all fantastic. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard both return with there characters from the last film and enjoyable as always, and the new side characters are both fun. Plus the scenes on the island are amazing. In conclusion If your liked the first film then you like this one, just don't expect it to be as good as the first one.… Expand

Not sure why this one (for me) wasn't as good as the earlier Jurassic World movie. Maybe it spent too little time in each location, feeling rushed or disjointed. If you love dinosaurs (like I do), it's worth seeing. It's just that as "Solo"Not sure why this one (for me) wasn't as good as the earlier Jurassic World movie. Great VFX; very well directed by J. A. Bayona, an excellent guy making horror films; good cinematography; an awesome blockbuster with action sequences & explotions 10/10... but the script is really mediocre, Colin Trevorrow should stay away from this franchise; the same scenes from the first instalments over & over again, even from the last one; stupid characters; horrible villains; the first 10 minutes are pretty good, but after that nothing makes sense, T-Rex seems to be their friend, besides super predictible, everything here is by coincidence; Bayona does what he can with this script to save the movie but putting horror in a house wasn't a good idea either, it's great for a horror movie, but not for this "world". You have to unplug your brian if you want to enjoy this.

They seem to always follow up a good entry in this franchise with a very ordinary one.Maybe they just thought they'd save money by re-using all the props and dino footage and cut down the cast to save money.

The plot is really weak as most doesn't make any sense at all.
The concept of using dinos as army weapons is ridiculous as they are really expensive and can be killed and tranq'ed without a lot of effort. Why Bryce's character all of a sudden is all weepy over them is a mystery as well to me. In the first film she thought they were just zoo animals.
Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard look like they're just slumming to get a paycheck with Howard looking strangely different from the first film but wearing exactly the same clothes. The villains are just bean counters except for the guy who played the baddie in Silence of the Lambs who is pretty amusing but none are very scary. The scooby doo gang girl and boy they took along to the island were lame.The boy especially was grating .
The ending sets up any number of possibilities for the future episodes although i can't see Pratt and Howard being in it.
Special effects were ok same as usual .The 3d was a waste of time as it was not noticeable .
I give this a 6 because i love monster films in any version.… Expand

From a person who grew up loving Dinosaurs and seeing all the Jurassic park movies, this movie felt average to me. Maybe it is because it is the 6th installment, but it just felt lackluster and missing some of the magic of the other films. I thought the movie was enjoyable, but a forgettable installment. What worked very well in the original Jurassic park film was the feeling of helplessness that the human’s characters had compared to the dinosaurs. There was an overwhelming sense of dread when being hunted by the carnivores. This movie did try to capture some of those tense moments, and some scenes did pay off. The true issue is that the constant tonal shifts between action and thriller made diminished those scenes that were meant to be scary. Overall if you are a fan of the films then it might benefit you to see it in theater with the big screen format and nice surround sound audio. Personally if you are on the fence, I would wait until home video to rent.… Expand

He should get a lot more praise in movies, looking at his role in this great movie, but there is always a downside. I't didn't make sense how the dinosaurs acted, they were too obedient and the scene where Blue would protect Chris Pratt's character didn't make a lot of sense to me. Most dinosaur's are supposed to the scary and hostile towards mostly everything, except vegetarian Dinosaurs. I would rate this movie an above average.… Expand

Worse than the one from 2015. It had some cringe scenes, plot of the movie was weird, and I won't talk about that ending.
Only Chris Pratt did good here.
Not sure if I could recommend watching this movie, although it was a solid one.

If you are Jurassic Park/World fan, I'd recommend, however, wouldn't really recommend. I really only had empathy for the Dinosaurs on the island as I felt pretty sad during that moment. Easily the most dissapointing 2018 film, although, it is a solid follow up to 2015, Jurassic World. Dumb, fun movie, yet again… The first half was completely outstanding! The opening scene was incredible! And there is a very emotional scene, especially for the fans. On the dock, when they look back and see the original brachiosaur, standing there, crying out in pain. I got really emotional but other than that, the opening and just the first half overall, not a great film.… Expand

More stupid people doing stupid things around dinosaurs. When is enough enough? Visually it's more than ok, but nothing we haven't seen before. The volcano is the only thing that's remarkable at all. I went in with low expectations, and still came out disappointed. The movie is very mediocre. I was pretty bored throughout the movie, because I didn't feel any excitement and suspense from it. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom takes place three years after the events of the first movie. The left remaining dinosaurs are left on the island as a volcano erupts. As the advertisements put it, “The park is gone”. All of this only raises one question: Why would you put a family theme park next to an active volcano with dinosaurs?

Anywhere...

After the monster success of “Jurassic World” a sequel was certain to happen and will find new ways to bring these extinct animals back onto the big screens. While I enjoyed the first movie a lot, but nowhere near as good compared to Jurassic Park. Had its moments overall, just not Spielberg level good.

We have a new director J.A. Bayona, with Colin Trevorrow only writing this time. Bayona is best known for horror and supernatural tragics, so I was interested for what he will bring to this new franchise. He dose bring a lot those elements into scenes where tension actually worked this time around. You can see the influence to older movies like “Nosferatu” and the golden age of monster movies into play. I must admit, the cinematography is visually stunning and makes the dinosaurs look terrifying. Unfortunately, all of this gets watered down by a terrible script, convenient situations, and the final result is Hollywood fluff.

The visual effects, (for the most part) looked really good and never takes you out of the movie when interacting around non-digital setting/people. I noticed some animatronics dinosaurs, but can easily get overshadowed by the heavy CGI. When I said “for the most part”, there are some shots were it looked a bit noticeable. Other than that, the visual effects are the strongest element to the film.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard ain't brilliant in terms of acting, but at least have great chemistry. If look at any interviews or press event, the two get along so well it easily shows on screen. The biggest change in terms of character is Bryce Dallas Howard, who’s not as idiotic like the first. While both characters aren't great, as some questionable decisions are made, although slightly better compared to the first. Although their motivations for saving the dinosaurs only makes you agree with Ian Malcolm (Goldblum) even more.

The film introduces new characters played by Justice Smith and Daniella Pineda, who tag along with are main characters. One of them can access and hack into anything, but he’s a afraid of pretty much everything - the drop of a penny can startle him, probably thinks it’s a T.Rex. Also his screaming can go right through you. The other takes care of Blue after being badly injured and that’s really it. Both of them didn't do much for me. Half way through the movie you forgot about them, because they literally disappear from the film and later come back in the third act.

The movie is, at the very least, self aware of itself. Evidently by Chris Pratt’s character before agreeing to go on a mission ironically states “What could go wrong” when things go wrong. Giving small winks to the audiences when the obvious is gonna happen. With the endless amount of stupid decisions on top of more stupid decisions to push the plot along - Which I guess if every character had a brain, this movie wouldn't exist, then again it wouldn't be a great loss.

Speaking of idiots, let's talk about the villains. I’m not gonna beat around the bush when I say this, but these are some of the most cartoonist villains I've seen in awhile. It’s pathetic how tedious they are. You wanna know they evil plan and goal? Guess, just guess:

Yep it’s money - Easily one of the worst.

If you’re looking forward for Jeff Goldblum’s return to the series and what role he will have on the story, just from the promotional material alone; well I got some bad news for you. He’s only in two scenes and the total screen time is one minute. All of it is courtroom debates. His character adds nothing to the film, just recycles dialogue from the previous films. What a waste of Goldblum.

Overall rating: While coming off as negative towards the film, it’s not bad or painfully to watch. I mean, it’s stupid fun. The ideas are present in ‘Fallen Kingdom’ for what it’s trying to set up or be, just needs a sharper execution. For those wondering about the third movie, don’t worry...

The studios will find a way.… Expand

'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' on the other hand, isn't just dumb, it's actually poorly written, unevenly paced, uses visual nostalgia nods that feel forced rather than organic, and our two main characters, for some reason, don't feel the same as they did from the previous movie. Not that it matters too much since they are bland, which pains me to say that, since they are played by usually talented actors. We see Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) is given a task by Eli Mills (Rafe Spall) to head back to Isla Nublar (where the Jurassic World incident occurred three years previously) to retrieve some of the creatures, as he promises her that they will put them in a new home island where they can be safe. They also suggest that she recruits Owen (Chris Pratt) as he raised and trained Blue, the one raptor who always followed his command as we saw in the previous movie. As they arrive on the island, they encounter many dangerous and near-death experiences to which they all manage to escape. However, if you know anything - or too much - about volcanic eruptions, and the consequences it follows, you will be questioning if the filmmakers have done their research. The entire second-half of the movie is where the film really drags itself to the ground. Without giving away too much, let's just say that the villain does reveal themselves, they host an auction of sorts to sell different creatures to the military, and there is another plot twist revolving a supporting character that is so incredibly far-fetched and stupid, I cannot even begin to tell you without spoiling it. You can have fun with this film, but I think it's very clear that 'Jurassic Park' (1993) should not have been a franchise to begin with. John Hammond (who was played by Richard Attenborough) wanted to test out the park before it opened, too many people were harmed and killed in the process, so he decided to close the door on his dreams. Why they opened Jurassic World around 20 years later, I don't know. There is pretty much no more reasons for these sequels to carry on. 'Jurassic World' (2015) would warrant its existence if it was a reboot.… Expand

Before finalizing its drawn-out closing credits, I witnessed a thank-you line alone in the dark, with an exquisite composition in its very last seconds before the post-credits scene, a first name and a surname that encompass the most appreciable and single improvement that can be highlighted in the eyes of common viewers: Guillermo del Toro. In addition to their friendship and unbreakable 'orgullo'- written in Spanish, - they both share advice on the different audiovisual projects that they carry out, from the most imperceptible details to the most important ones, in this case: the stifling atmosphere that inundates the whole pic for everybody's enjoyment, Bayona' and Del Toro's imagery.

"Fallen Kingdom," always lewdly ruled by an unthinkable narrative incongruity and a soaring fandango in the devices used to move forward the plot, is a progression of varying-quality set-pieces differing from the increasing suspenseful anticipations from start to finish. Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona described the second installment of this new 'Jurassic' trilogy as the darkest, most gothic in the entire saga in the months prior to its release, and there's nothing more than truth in his words, at least, in most of the taut action sequences on the island and the mansion. Even with MPAA's PG-13 rating as a "restriction," Bayona and cinematographer Oscar Faura find ways to bath the film in an unco survival horror from the middle of the second act, and although it suffers from a wounding disconnection between the genres it handles, artistically feeds off the wonderful camera work, a wild color palette and Michael Giacchino's uncommonly weak soundtrack that gets its only point of glory in the variations of the original franchise theme. Having as basis the 2015 Hollywood prequel, huge surprises were predicted for this new entry, and although the writing was an unhopeful horizon, the visual potential was the main prey for depredators, but even with a fabulous crew, such hopes faded away once the movie is over. Relegating Chris Patt's natural charm to give the chance a "comic-relief" as clumsy as uninteresting is one of its biggest cons, fortifying it with the weak performances of the leading actors and some one-liners lacking in effect. The most discussed issue of the previous film was Claire's footwear, fleeing through a muddy jungle or the high-tech park, this time, naysayers will have reasons to criticize because she becomes the typical, currently unwanted damsel in distress that must be rescued by a man, displaying even an artificial and totally unnecessary "romantic" moment. Even coming from good actors, the performances are medium-quality. The leading actors, even more, their chemistry, the little spark from the first film. They intend to get it back by means of no-more-of-forty-second interactions. Many of the characters are deprived of their essence and potential on screen: Chris Pratt gives up his inherent comic-factor for being the hero; Daniella Pineda pretends to be the very first LGBT character but they are afraid to show it; Bryce Dallas Howard doesn't get a significant plot weight beyond being the target for deception; and Justice Smith is entrusted with a repellent, tasteless character, there is no force in performances or characters here; a really harmful feature.

It's not possible to disclaim the amazing cinematography and certain high-tension set-pieces that give you goosebumps in "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" by J.A. Bayona, in the same way, it's fair to appreciate the neat construction of some atmospheres brimming with suspense and mainstream-horror-genre tropes that embed their claws with intolerable tenacity. Although moderately efficient and unusual by the "Jurassic" franchise, the darkness and drama the director intends to endow his story don't get a truly effect due to, first of all, the PG-13 barrier between its purposes, and secondly, the discrepancy between the menacing pictures and the frightened script that obviously prevails when it's evaluated as a whole. The fingers of one hand can be useful to count the qualities in favor of this uneven, disappointing sequel, a movie that opens the way for the upcoming, barnstorming cinematic climax. Once more a blockbuster with little soul and a lot of pyrotechnics that will surely be an overseas summer box office smasher thanks to an instinctively striking, aggressive mise-en-scène and the hook provoked by the magnetic leading duo - Pratt and his lizards - however, it will sink in with respect to the summer competitors due to unfunny, medium-quality performances, a short-of-innovation soundtrack, and a simply poor, disjointed narrative and storyline. All this coming to the conclusion that the worst sin committed by this film was to fetter freedom to an artist, in every sense of the word. J. A. Bayona was able to achieve big, praiseworthy things, such as taming the wildest beasts of entertainment.… Expand

Jurassic World was definitely a great idea to add on to the preexisting Jurassic Park franchise although it did indeed had flaws that couldn't make it outshine the first installment in the franchise. What makes Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom any different from the previously said predecessor? Well, pretty much nothing really. To be completely honest, when Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom tries, it's great to see it try but it fails to live up to the expections I was expecting to see from at least Jurassic World if it couldn't outshine Jurassic Park. All I saw from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is literally a newer and weaker version of Jurassic World. It does have a lot of distinguishing differences when it comes to comparing the two films like how I like the direction where Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is going, but the writing otherwise makes me believe I was literally watching Jurassic World again. Do I recommend watching it though? I'd only recommend it for the strongest diehard fans or if you want to get a kick out of the film. If you do recommend it for the latter, please do not expect much out of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It's got enough kicks to equally match Jurassic World's.… Expand

At half the movie the dinos became physically smaller to fit into a mansion basement, and that's where the movie lose any credibility with the watcher. The music wasn't very good with accentuation at the wrong places. The FX was still very potent. I give it 45% because of the good beginning. But the rest of the movie is just horrible in too many ways...… Expand

The first film was thrilling throughout with the Indominus Rex terrorizing from pretty much the beginning of the film. This film, however, does not do the same. The trailers make out the Indoraptor to be the most dangerous dinosaur on the planet, yet it appears in the film for about 5-10 minutes and only towards the end, where it fails to get one little girl and is defeated in a pretty underwhelming way by the velociraptor. Yep, it gets killed by Blue. You’d figure that would be the end of the movie, but nope, there was still another 10-15 minutes after that, with the dinosaur the being released out into the world by the humans. While it may seem touching that they let the most free, it was really a stupid choice as now they’ll wreak havoc. So having all of this after the whole indoraptor fiasco makes it very un memorable as you forget that it was even on screen. It’s a shame too. The first half of the film was terrific, with the people saving the dinosaurs as the volcano explodes behind them, and a very emotional dinosaur death scene that really get s to you. It makes you think the rest of the film will be the same, but that’s not the case. The second half is more or less a setup to the third film, rather than being it’s own original film. So yeah, I’m pretty disappointed in the film, but the first half atleast keeps me from giving the film a lower score.… Expand

When the first details of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's story were published long before the film came out, it didn't exactly give me hope for the quality of the film. The concept of Jurassic Park/World is fantastic, for one movie. The concept of Jurassic Park/World is fantastic, for one movie. Past that, it gets a bit hairy and it has always seemed like that they weren't exactly sure how high quality the sequels would be, but they knew they wanted to make money. Fallen Kingdom falls into that same rut. The premise of the story isn't that bad: Owen and Claire agree to go back to the island to rescue some of the dinosaurs because the volcano on the island is about to erupt. But, inevitably, the film quickly disposes of this premise and moves on to a different storyline that I would call "Jurassic Mansion". I really couldn't believe that the rest of the movie took place in one location, a mansion. Sure, it's large and everything but...I wasn't a fan of this choice at all. Not to mention that the story really loses steam once they reach the mansion and falls into the common tendencies of previous Jurassic films. Lots of dinosaurs escaping, killing people, and almost killing main characters but somehow failing to do so. There is about eight metric tons of fan service in this film as well. It's basically projected to the audience to think "Hey, that reminds me of Jurassic Park! Hey, that reminds me of The Lost World!" during certain scenes because it's so damn similar. Typically with films like this I don't go in expecting a masterpiece, but I expect to have fun and be entertained. With Fallen Kingdom, I was entertained at times, and I had fun at times, but it was never consistent. The production and acting of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard (not the nerdy computer guy and the female doctor...I found them to be incredibly annoying and unnecessary in many of their scenes) is top notch, as expected, but ultimately Fallen Kingdom failed to reach even a satisfactory level of entertainment.… Expand

Their even worse then they are in the first one. Many will leave this film feeling very unsatisfied because it feels like a part one to a two part film. Characters make some very dumb decisions making you lose any support for them. The villains follow the very simple go to villain goal and that's to make money so they can become powerful. Several strong elements in this movie, particularly the opening act feel rushed and we soon enter a very boring second act that doesn't offer us anything to grab attention to. The final act is fun and mildly entertaining, but it tries to take the movie into a different direction to set it up for a sequel in a very cliche way. There are some surprising twists but they feel like their forced in their just for the sake of it as they dont better benefit or intrigue the plot. This was a disappointing movie, its not bad but could have been a lot better.… Expand

Everything that was important to the story line seemed rushed. For example, how do you gloss over the fact that girl is a clone. Also, pterodactyls in Vegas? If you really like dinosaurs, go see it. There also seems to be this weird phenomenon in which a dinosaur is friends with Chris Pratt and keeps risking its life to protect him. Why does this dinosaur love Chris Pratt so much? Extensive animal training? No, there is no reason whatsoever, in fact this dinosaur has been left to it's own devices, abandoned since the last movie. There is fun to be had if you leave your brain at the door and enjoy the serviceable CGI.… Expand

It's been three years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island's dorma[phent volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who's still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

This is not what I expected to see after watching Jurassic World, cause I liked Jurassic World, but this one... EH!
I'm not saying it was awful, but it wasn't that much good that I expected to see, it disappointed me in so many ways, I didn't like it oe hate it, but still, it has lots of boring moments or scenes, very low performances and slight story.

The boring moments are connected and related to the slight story, cause the story didn't impress me at all, maybe a little when we got closer to the end.

The performances weren't bad, they were just low, except for Chris Pratt, everyone else was joking in very bad times and fake-acted

I also found some good stuff in this movie, the CGI was mistake-less, the story went well and Chris Pratt got me with his very talented performance and I guess that's it!

I have lots of unanswered-questions!
1. How did Eli Mills build his lab beneath the house and no one noticed?

2. The intelligence of that new dinosaur, how far it can go? Can it go for fun with humans before killing then?

Don't get me wrong, I do like Chris Pratt and I admit Bryce Howard is a cute girl and a seemingly talented actress. However I'd have to say if you saw the last in the Jurassic series... you've pretty much seen this one already. This movie suffers from the same symptoms all Universal Picture franchises suffer from: the focus turns not to creating a story that anyone will ever actually care about or relate to, but instead to try to crush as much action and epic SVFX shots into 2 hours as possible. It's honestly just disappointing, because for a movie that has made as much $$ as Jurassic World has, I really just wish the direction would have been focused on actually making the plot enjoyable and make sense. Everything that happens on the island was pretty great, but I wish the film would have only taken place on the island. I would have rather the volcanic eruption + dinosaur stampede + escape off the island would have been the act 3 climax. Instead, it happens within 10 minutes of being on the island. And, our third act climax is a stupid monster that's not really a monster, that honestly is not as scary or epic as a volcano. The acting, as always, was decent considering the material the actors were forced to work with. Then, to add, the film ends depicting a cloned human that releases dinosaurs into the public as, "a hero." She's not though; this scene and action is so morally corrupt it's hilarious that the filmmakers are trying so hard to say she's a hero. Or that anyone should consider the dinosaurs to be, "animals." Only person who has it right is Jeff Goldblum, who--right from the start--knew the best thing for everyone would just be to let the volcano kill all the dinosaurs. Nope! This is a corporate franchise money cow! So we HAVE to let the dinosaurs live on, because more movies! It's like watching someone continuously shoot themselves in the foot, and then try to get people to understand and continue to let them shoot themselves in the foot while also trying to get those people to feel bad for the bullets they're using. It doesn't make any sense!

It's a hardcore money-grab film only. It sucks, in other words.… Expand

I really liked when the carnivores got the horror movie villian treatment with the lighting. I didn't like how they acted like horror movie villians the rest of the time. They're supposed to be acting like animals. I can't think of a single animal that stops for a snack when it is running for its life. They way most of the animals acted screamed "plot convenience" rather than "this is how any creature wih some sense of self preservation would act." Everything all the humans did in the film was catastrophically stupid and illogical. The only exception is the little girl, well except for that one scene where she attempted to hide from the dangerous predator in her bed. Until that point, she was pretty good. Most of the film I found to be a poorly thought out mess. The CG looked good at least. Fun bonus fact. If a human gets hit with a dart meant to take down something rhino sized and up, the next step should be getting stabbed with a needle of the antidote, before they OD and die. Not in this film though. Magic knockout darts for all!… Expand

The story falls short noticably compared to Jurassic World. The idea to use chasing and jump scare scenes right from the early stage right till the end is not a good one. The novelty does get wears off quickly after a while, and there isn't a good follow up to that. It is common sense to put in such scenes after a series of peaceful starting scenes like what it did on Jurassic World. And the chasing, horror scenes aren't that unique either, not unlike what we have seen in the previous films.

The villains are also very one dimensional sterotypes villians. This and the fairly predictable plots make the film a pretty bad one.

The only reason to watch this film is probably for the sake for catching on with the series. Not a good stand alone movie by itself definitely.… Expand

Imagine a filmic task: here is a few hundred million, pick of actors and big CGI budget. Now make a film about dinosaurs BUT make it boring. You would have thought that this was Sisyphean task, impossible even but then I give you Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Instead of one film, Bayonara has made four: Aliens, The Impossible, The Orphanage and Jurassic Park. Like a victim of the Alien Queen, the progeny has fed till the host is just a husk.

The acting is so average. There is no chemistry at all between Pratt and Howard and if I hadn't just seen Avengers, you would think Pratt had lost all his filmic charisma. The ensemble struggles along as best they can.

Oh yeah, by the way who builds a billion dollar tourist park on a volcano? Just saying....… Expand

Follows the formula of the original Jurassic Park trilogy where the second movie sees the need to move the dinosaurs off the Island and to a much more populated area. Jurassic World was pretty much the first movie remade but with the new feature of the Indominus Rex. A genetically modified dinosaur that was better than all the other dinosaurs, the ultimate predator etc. This ridiculous addition showed that they had run out of ideas but most of us didn’t care. It was packed full of nostalgia, and was enjoyable in the moment. Unfortunately it made so much darn money they just had to make a follow-up, but not just a follow up, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is just the second movie in a possible new trilogy. So whether you like it or not we’re getting even more dinosaurs, ooh goody I can’t wait to see what scary dinosaur they manage to cook up in that lab, again.

Four years since the park was destroyed and now the dinosaurs are at risk of another extinction because that really expensive park was built on an Island that now has an active volcano and raises the ethical dilemma of whether these creatures should be saved at all. Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) are back on an expedition to rescue the dinosaurs. But they’re also competing with all those military guys who see the potential for using dinosaurs as weapons. This was hinted at in the first Jurassic World and is very much the tone of this film so get ready to be bored as more shots of DNA vials in briefcases and new genetically modified dinosaurs getting out of their enclosures happens again and again. We’ve seen this all before only now it just seems cheap. The attempts at humour was cringeworthy, the story so predictable if you’ve seen the trailer then you’ve seen the film. Despite the promising opening scene it all went downhill from there and just kept falling. I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece by any means but I really wanted this to be so much better. There’s no wow factor, no scene that will have you on the edge of your seat. It’s disheartening to see such a bad Jurassic World movie, please make it stop before it gets any worse. I wouldn’t recommend this to a die-hard Jurassic Park fan because it barely resembles it anymore but if you’re in desperate need of a mindless popcorn flick then lower the expectations and have fun.… Expand

Of course you can not let them die, they would run out of business.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is probably the most disjointed sequel I've seen in a long time, not only the story is incredibly simplistic, the succession of events is laughable and ridiculous.

The script? An absolute disaster full of plot holes that they patch with what they have at hand and what is coming out.

They take Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) back to the island to open a door and activate a tracker.
Owen returns to the island to tame a dinosaur and then they shoot him with a tranquilizer leaving him at the mercy of a volcano and other dinosaurs around and yet Dr. Zia Rodriguez who left him there is surprised that he is still alive after she abandoned him in such a way. Yes she was being threatened but for God's sake.
From that on both characters couldn't be more stupid and disposable.

The rest of the plot handles a good theme but it's evident the repetition. Seriously, the climax of the film is an auction that goes out of control?
The Indoraptor is a ridiculous creation just like the Indominus Rex designed to be the villain of the moment and it's amazing how its size fits perfectly for any place it appears within the Lockwood Mansion.

The clone girl? Irrelevant in every sense and its narrative arc only serves for the decision she takes at the end.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a mess that tried to mix everything possible in the most simple plot that could have established, besides spending what could have been the perfect end to the franchise: the dinosaurs falling victim once again to extinction. That scene of the dinosaur being swallowed by the smoke and lava of the volcano was the most redeemable thing of the film because it was a truly dramatic moment.
Adding the good visual effects and a more inspired score by Michael Giacchino compared to the one of the previous film are among the few things worth noting about Fallen Kingdom.

Worse yet the ending is so open that feels clumsy and forced and even problematic because what it seems to indicate sounds more like an eventual Planet of the Dinosaurs than anything else. Time will tell, after all Jurassica Park remains a good business, but it needs to be a better business.… Expand

The film opens with the US government, yet again butting their heads into something outside of their jurisdiction, deciding on the fate of the dinosaurs that are being threatened by an active volcano on the island they inhabit from the previous film. Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, is on the front line of a non-profit organization petitioning to save the dinosaurs, which fails to sway the government to intervene. Lucky for Claire and the dinosaurs, Eli Mills, played by Rafe Spall, steps in as a proxy for one of the late John Hammond's previously unnamed partners of the original park, and wants to set up a nature preserve on a private island for the dinosaurs. Without permission or authority, the project has already been started, but Mills' group of hunters and mercenaries have been unsuccessful in tracking down Blue, the only remaining raptor surviving from first film. Because of this they need Claire to track down Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, to assist in bringing in his former "pet."

Starting off strong, it doesn’t take much time for the inevitable double cross to take place on the island, leaving Owen, Claire, and their new cohorts to face volcanic eruptions, mercenaries, and free roaming dinosaurs. This premise sounds like it would be a thrilling adventure, but the execution feels more akin to being The Lost World 2, since this is almost the exact same plot of the second film in the franchise. Sure, some scenes are amazing, but they are far and few between, often falling flat due to poor editing. A prime example of this is takes place early on, when Owen finds himself tranquilized and alone in the forest with freshly spewed lava inching towards him. Pratt's execution of this scene is flawless in creating tension, with him trying to flail about to move out of the path of danger, but soon cuts away, never showing the audience exactly how he made it out alive. It's as if someone gave up in the middle of creating this scene and just decided to let him survive because he's one of the main characters, and arguably one of the best things about the movie offering a number of hilarious one-liners and bringing his normal swagger to the performance. This makes the wide-eyed and often boring performance of Howard to be even less believable, yet again proving that she has no business being in Hollywood other than having her father's name. While the other actors offer respectable performances, none stand out in any meaningful ways.

The plot holes don't end here, and while I know this is a fictional film and requires the suspension of disbelief, the writers seemed to have forgotten their own rules set forth in the previous films, such as the giant hamster balls that are used in the last film. If you remember, Jimmy Fallon's cameo explains that the spheres are bullet proof, and can withstand a .50 caliber bullet. Knowing that, I am still wondering who decided to let Owen shoot holes through the glass using a standard pistol and then pry the glass off with a knife.

My biggest issue with the film is the incorporation of the previously unnamed partner's granddaughter, Maisie Lockwood, played by Isabella Sermon. While she is portrayed well by the young girl, late into the film it is revealed she's not his granddaughter, but a clone of Lockwood's daughter, which is what drove a wedge between the longtime friends. With Hammond being dead for around 20 years, I find it hard to believe this is what caused an issue with them, as the young girl is barely 13. Additionally, the reveal is thrown out so casually, it's as if it was improvised during filming and is never fully fleshed out.

The original Jurassic Park holds up well even today, almost 30 years later, due to the fact that the late Stan Winston created a number of animatronic dinosaurs in addition to the CGI. This entry relies heavily on CGI which works for the most part, but I found many scenes to be overly obvious that the actors are looking at a tennis ball or other inanimate object that was placed in the shot. The biggest problem with these dinosaurs is there simply isn't that many of them, with their screen time clocking in at what feels like less than half the film’s entire runtime. And at a little over two hours, this feels much longer than it is; my wife agreed saying it felt like we spent the entire day at the theater.

While the film is watchable and fares better than a SyFy channel movie of the week, it's hardly worth your money. I would strongly recommend waiting for it to release as a rental, opposed to spending the ungodly amount of money the theaters are asking these days.… Expand

The camera work is horrifyingly witty and is more appalling than the creatures, sound effects and the tense energy that is created in here and the credit goes to the director whose passion and keen sense of knowledge towards the horror genre that helps hold the audience to their seats through its overlong 2 hours of runtime. The writing is similar to its previous instalment, that is cheesy, sloppy and a bit chalky around the edges, addition to that the urge to create a dramatic or action sequence that is captured from a textbook cinematic formula, makes the whole process redundant especially when the audience sweats through it. One would assume that the format of the structure and the mind-numbing chase sequences would be distracted by the bigger picture and a smarter approach that would redefine the franchise; one is wrong. The upgrade or updated version of the sequel according to the makers in here, is to go big, loud and pure mayhem on as much as large scale possible and not develop the characters and sensibility that gives the gravitas to it. J.A. Bayona; the director, comes as a bit of a shock and disappointing considering the expectation he brought with him, he seems distracted and unsettled on the final vision. The technical aspects such as visual effects are appreciative along with d.o.p. but the editing could have been a lot better. Chris Pratt on hand-to-hand combat is believable and more convincing this time but there's nothing more than that and so is on Bryce Dallas Howard; despite of being such an acclaimed actress. Having said that, the primary reason would be the range and space given to the actors is lesser than usual which can be difficult to pull off. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a reign that sinks so deep that it never lifts up despite of its twists and turns, which is caused in here by uneven pacing and sloppy writing.… Expand

The visual effects are really great, and crispy but other than that and the message of the movie, not much can be said for the movie.

Pros:Did slightly better than the first Jurassic World,The first half was really good,it had better direction.

Cons:Still being a mediocre film at best,the first 30-40 minutes of this movie was really solid,it was tbh quite good and then the film stopped,and was leading up to ...NOTHING.It was like the first half and second half of this movie felt like two completely different movies.Moreover,there was no character development in this film,there was one character which was supposed to be comic relief,but it is NOT Funny at all and so frustrating,this guy unfortunately showed up a lot,which killed all the tensions and the suspense of the film,he was essentially Jar Jar of this film.There are some exciting scenes but make no sense,the entire last half makes no sense.If this film was meant to be"Turn off your brain" kind of film,why did they need to make so many exposition scenes and subplots?.The Ending was facepalm
Overall,this film was a bloated mess,there is nothing to really show here,bc the trailer showed basically 90% of this film.
Tbh I like Jurassic World more than this,eventhough I didnt like that movie,but at least it was more coherent,it knew where it was going.But this film,beside a more superior direction,it felt like "we really need to make Jurassic World 3"… Expand

I made an account just to review this film. Its bland. The story is weak. Nothing to be amazed about. As watching the film you can tell what will happen next. Its like a cliche. Sure the fight scenes were fun and action packed. But the storyI made an account just to review this film. Its bland. The story is weak. Nothing to be amazed about. And what was really disappointing was that in the trailer it made it set that the dinosaurs where gonna attack the public. But those scenes in the trailer were only snippets. I hope there isn't a third installment that it just ends here please. The film was a so-so.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I was a young boy, I found a dinosaur egg. It’s true. A seven-year-old helping my father, Newfoundland’s most proficient Lobsterman, down by the docks. I was skipping stones when I noticed a large, smooth object along the jagged shores of St. Lawrence. What appeared to be a pearlescent rock, but more ovular than any I had ever seen.
I recovered the object only to realize it was a massive egg. One that could only belong to an Ostrich or a similar creature. But we don’t have ostriches in Canada. I showed my father, who cautioned that I put the egg back where I found it. The moral of the story is that sometimes we must temper our curiosity when it comes to dinosaurs, and let nature be. Allowing dinosaurs into modern society would be a very dangerous thing.
Which brings me to the utterly inane plot of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”. In this movie, dinosaur enthusiast and part-time carpenter Chris Pratt is recruited by his ex-lover, Bryce Dallas Howard, daughter of Opie, to go back to Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs after the disastrous events of “Jurassic World”. For some reason, Starlord obliges her, and ventures back to save his beloved raptor, Blue.
Look, we all know “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and all the “Jurassic Park” films are only “based on” a true story. Anytime Hollywood says “based on a true story”, you know they are taking major creative liberties with the original material. However, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” took it too far. Even though we can assume that there are scientists out there who can bring dinosaurs back to life, it is totally unrealistic to think that these scientists would do so. Not once, not twice, not three times, but four separate times over the course of the franchise, after suffering innumerable consequences each go-around.
This kind of lazy writing is something I just don’t care for, particularly as someone who had to give up the dream of having a pet dinosaur of my own along the shores of Newfoundland, so many years ago.
Cinematically, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” is the tale of two different flicks. The first half of the movie is a pretty contrived, standard disaster movie, that frankly I was waiting for to end. However, the third act of “Fallen Kingdom” gets rather interesting, and delves into a territory that no Jurassic Park film ever has. There is a scene where billionaires bid upon dinosaurs that is particularly eery and unlike anything in the series. Without spoiling too much, I think the third film of this particular Jurassic Park trilogy is set up for some very interesting, fresh material. It appears to be going in a direction we haven’t seen in this franchise before, and it is exciting.
But on a very serious note, if we don’t stop creating dinosaurs, the ending of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” may not be so much “based on a true story” any longer, but rather will become our own stark reality.… Expand

Mediocre film with bland characters & a boring plot. It didn't help that all the trailers for this movie gave away the plot. The best part about this movie is the opening scene. Empty and hollow, that was the general feeling I got from this one. It's yet another refurbished Jurrasic Park storyline with some cliché ending we all expected.

I liked the first Jurassic World movie, I did not think it was bad and it was nice start to this new spin on a classic franchise. This sequel however was NOT so great. The fact that a lot of the movie doesn't even take place on the island made no sense, the characters were too generic and the "Evil corporation guys" were just too comical for me. The only redeeming part of this movie it seems was the dinosaurs and even that after a while for me became a bit too repetitive. Plus that ending....F**K THAT ENDING.… Expand

You would think people would be smart enough to not save the dinosaurs by now... there is absolutely no reason that anyone should've saved them, absolutely terrible story and that little girl is such a stupid character for thinking that letting the dinosaurs go is a good idea. Why does anyone care? The dinosaurs have killed so many people, who thought this movie was a good idea?… Expand

Fallen Kingdom is sort of similar to Jurrasic Park 2, where the first part of the film is better than the last 40 minutes. But whereas 2 goes from great to meh, this film goes from men to bad. There are a couple neat sequences here and there, but the second half of this movie is laughably bad.
