It's not completely unbearable, but the script is trash, and the CGI effects are mediocre at best.

I'd highly recommend this movie to anyone. Considering it's little more than a gimmick to promote the use of 3d, this film is far better than it has any right to be. The film maker cast the movie well, and made a great decision to I'd highly recommend this movie to anyone. It doesn't follow the book very closely, but it has it's own plot that centers around the book. It's nothing deep, but it's great fun.… Expand

The best 3D sequences in the movie were the opening and closing credits. Nowhere else in the movie was the 3D used as effectively. I could hear the kids in the theatre yawning once the intitial thrill of the 3D wore off.

A silly movie who's plot revolves mostly on impossible cell phone reception,corny effects and bad acting. the 3-d glasses do NOT save the plot and performance of this movie.

It takes an overused but stylish story direction and it is quite amusing. The adventure is a fun ride to watch and Brendan Frasier does great here.

Visual effects are on par, but the story and the acting sink this movie way down the list. Almost everything could've been improved, including the miscast of Brendan Frazier. Boy, is that guy making some crap movie nowadays.

Journey to The Center of The Earth is just plain poor.
It begins uninteresting with an unhappy teenager and his dad. It gets better as it goes along with some good special effects, but then returns to being uninteresting towards the end. TheJourney to The Center of The Earth is just plain poor.

An ok action/adventure film for the whole family to enjoy, especially younger kids. The story isn't great, but the visuals and SFX are pretty good. It has enough to keep all ages entertained for 90 minutes but the kids will no doubt enjoy it more.

When I watched it as a kid I liked it.
Now ...... it's bad.
It's not even comparable to Jules Verne original novel and even the 50s film was better.

The story has a couple downfalls, but other than that it is great. The effects were actually not bad, like others say. I would give it a 7 if it wasn't awkward at some points.

This film tries to adapt to the cinema the sci-fi novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne. Book and author are even abundantly referred in the film. However, it creates a new story around the book that is a far cry from whatThis film tries to adapt to the cinema the sci-fi novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne. Book and author are even abundantly referred in the film. However, it creates a new story around the book that is a far cry from what was written by Verne. To begin with, this film doesn't happen in the nineteenth century but rather during our time and the original novel was about a scientific expedition into a volcano, not an occasional incident that runs by chance. The script is pretty basic and far-fetched, runs over science in favor of dramatic effect and abuses the usual clichés of adventure movies, with poorly constructed and undeveloped characters escaping from certain death always at the last moment. There is a lot of silly stuff in this movie and it harms it's quality. The film has a nice cinematography and the fast pace that it takes, along with its short lenght, helps to make it more enjoyable because we forget mistakes and failures that we would be thinking about, focusing on what is happening.

About the actors I can only say that the cast is regular, tries hard but doesn't have much quality material on which to show talent. Brendan Fraser is the sounding name here, but it doesn't surprise the audience. His character is similar to what he had in "The Mummy", reason why it doesn't require a major effort of the actor, whose career fell into the doldrums after his sudden success. Anita Briem is a perfect stranger to me but plays the hot girl contested by the good guys while Josh Hutcherson is the revolted teenager.

In short, this movie is the typical adventure movie in which nothing is credible but makes the public have fun, with appropriate doses of humor and action, some silly romance and a forgettable story. Worth watching if you just want some quick entertainment.… Expand
