This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. John Wick: Chapter 2 is an action film that seldom misfires. For quick context, John Wick came as a surprise return to form for Keanu Reeves in 2014. Two elements stood out to separate John Wick from the rest of the action pack. The first is in the excellent casting of the protagonist. The quite actor transformed his usual persona into a role of one who, instead, takes extreme action. In extra-textual awareness, loss seemingly haunts the misunderstood actor. The solemn introspective nature of Reeves gives the character of Wick a believable sense of unchained rage. Frankly, John Wick fits Keanu like a glove. A second unique feature of the original is in how the film introduced audiences to the vague world of assassins. John Wick 2 continues the process of world building without conceding a sense of mystery. The film flirts with its own idiosyncrasies knowing full well maintaining the atmosphere is what makes the franchise unique. For example, rules are cited without explaining the full body of the source. Odd artifacts localized to a high ranking assassin will find the camera's attention. In addition, the sequel is a far more cinematically complex film over the first in the series. John Wick: Chapter 2 explores the dichotomy of agency against the externalities in life. Wick constantly conforms to the rules of the assassin world despite a desire to break free. The dangers of breaking free are made explicitly known to the audience and Wick. As a result, the film’s plot is the rare action film which focuses on the awareness of limitations in one’s environment. The story constantly finds humor in the juxtaposition of action to dialogue/scenario. An intense fight will cease in due part to some odd universal assassin code. A shootout occurs during a concert at one point early in the film. Wick shoots an adversary in the head to an ignorant audience’s entertainment. The cited moment gives the viewer a meta moment to ponder their attraction to extreme violent imagery. Speaking of universal codes, the film often uses noir elements to heighten emotions or reflect states of danger. Soft blue and red lighting clash throughout the film. Red often illuminates the screen during the more intense shootouts of the film. Conversely, the color blue offers Wick precious few moments to cool down and collect himself. The depth of the assassin world adds a heightened sense of danger to our protagonist. Wick ceases being able to recognize fellow assassins from civilians among the throngs of New York. (Minor spoiler) The entire environment literally turns against John during the final surprisingly unnerving moments of the film. The action is top notch and will satisfy anyone who simply wants to witness masterfully executed action. The hand to hand combat does get a bit stale during the final fights of the movie. Ultimately, John Wick: Chapter 2 is the cinephiles fun action romp. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I watched today john wick: chapter 2 and I was very surprised with the quality of the movie, john wick chapter: 2 is well superior to the 1 movie (which is also a great movie) I was high expectations for the movie and I'm very happy Because my expectation was exceeded.

The characters in the movie are much better built than in the 1 movie, people have a different name from the 1st movie in which you just remember the name of Viktor, Iosef and Perkins.

The scene that John kills 02 guys with the **** pencil is to explode the head (literally) and the fact that the film consists of several parts with different focuses shows that the story was very well built in relation to the first.

The plot starts with something that john wick feels obligated to do (pact) and in the end surprisingly he says **** to the rules and start to be a personal shock to me as he would die.

When I think the movie could not have a good plot for the supposed john wick: chapter 3 I see I'm wrong, the 02 movie leaves a lot much lighter than the 1 for the 2 movie, and that leaves me with a Absurd hype for the 3 movie.

Remember that's is my opinion :)

I wasn't too fond of the huge expansion of the hitman underworld. What I liked about the first one was the hitman underworld felt like a small population were involved as assassins. Its cool that it's international but having a huge percentage of hitman in New York was pretty ridiculous which is my little nit pick. The second one lacked the emotional connection from the original since John Wick had a personal motivation to do what he had to get done. All in all I had a fun time and I got my money's worth. It was fun hearing the audience's reaction during many of the scenes. In a time where action films are eclipsed by Comic book movies, Star Wars films, and the abrasive Fast series(which should've ended at 7), it's nice to have a small Hollywood production gem with relatively grounded fight scenes, minimal cgi, and awesome stunts; i.e., the John Wick series. The man. The myth. The legend. John Wick is back, and he’s here to stay. And don’t worry: the new dog’s still here too.

Where do I even start? Films like this one, and the original, are usually ones people walk into with low expectations, coming mainly to see a spectacular light and sound spectacle that goes heavy on the bloodshed and light on the, oh, everything else. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of blood splatter to go around in this movie, but never for a second is the storytelling (take a moment, even for a movie like this one, to follow that word up with a hollow laugh) aspect of the movie compromised for the sake of an action scene, which is such a beautiful thing in this day and age when multiplexes are filled by the likes of Michael Bay. Plenty of focus was spent on world-building in the first, delicately crafting a massive and elegant underground society of assassins and mobsters hiding right under our noses in the middle of New York City. As you’ll see in this one, that is only the tip of the iceberg.

We open on Wick (Keanu Reeves) settling his last bit of unfinished business from the previous film by getting his vintage Mustang back from the brother of original antagonist Viggo Tarasov. This actually accomplishes very little—when he returns home with the car, John Leguizamo’s chop shop owner character quips it’ll be ready “By Christmas…2030” when he calls him to repair it—and seems to serve the purpose of re-introducing the character and his legendary reputation to audiences (including the infamous “pencil story”, of which he gives a demonstration later on). Once this is done, John begins to again try to settle back into life as a civilian, when his past comes back to haunt him once more in the form of Santino D’Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio), an old acquaintance who, we learn, played a vital role in helping in the completion of Baba Yaga’s “impossible task” that established the Tarasov syndicate in the previous film. Bound by a blood oath to assist D’Antonio (who reminds him of this by blowing up his house with a grenade launcher), Wick is given the task of eliminating the former’s sister Gianna (Claudia Gerini; I wonder if Monica Bellucci was unavailable, I honestly think she would have been better for that role) in order for Santino to claim a place at the “High Table”, a council of high-level crime lords who make use of the circle of assassins to whom John used to belong. If you’ve seen anything about the movie on TV or in the news you no doubt know that he succeeds, but when Santino double-crosses him to tie up loose ends, John suddenly finds a world that was all-too-happy to have him back now treacherous and full of danger. With an open contract on his head worth enough money that it’d make anyone consider life as an assassin, John must figure out who he can trust, outlive the attempts on his life by his former colleagues, and find a way to take revenge on D’Antonio all at the same time.

Now, I said that this sequel does everything that a sequel ought to. Allow me to elaborate on that a little more: everything great about the first film was kept while the weaker or less developed areas have been tightened up and now feel more at home. The unique lighting and visual style are still apparent, but a bit of a break is taken from the noir atmosphere of the last film by giving plenty of daytime settings and scenes (in contrast to the grey and black New York night streets), as well as plenty of beautiful new set pieces in Rome. The action scenes are still beautifully choreographed and shot, and we even get to see Wick use a few new weapons in this one (most notably is a shotgun—I was disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to utilize one in the first, but that scene makes up for it one-hundred percent). The dry humor that made the first so hilarious in such a deadly way (the deadpan delivery of Reeves and Lance Reddick, the Continental’s concierge, makes it all the sweeter) is all over the place, and to make up for a few of the juicy supporting performances we lost between this movie and the last one (Poor, poor Willem Dafoe…) we get a couple of new ones from the likes of Laurence Fishburne as the leader of a gang of homeless men/assassins/criminals, Common as the bodyguard of Wick’s mark in Rome, and the legendary Franco Nero as the Winston-type character of an Italian branch of the Continental (Ian McShane also returned to his role, and I loved every minute of his time on screen). But what’s perhaps most interesting is the expansion upon the lore created in the last movie: we see now that these killers aren’t just in New York, but everywhere in the world, and now Wick must be even more careful than before.

I’ve never given an action movie a perfect 10 before, so this is a first for me. All I have left to say is: Threequel, please! 10/10

a rare case of sequel being better than the first one
john wick has become the new benchmark
james bond, bourne, vin diesel, expendables, etc etc whatever action movie after this,
if u cant do half as good as this one,u guys might just gtfo

why? :

-lots of action movie have builds up.simple example is recent triple X. or old bond movie
theres so much hype on the protagonist, but so little proof to back that up

john wick isnt one of those movie.it has tons of proofs.
u really convince on why people scared of him
he more than earn that "boogeyman" nickname

and the camera work is perfect, but not moving a lot (like the recent triple x)
this is by no means a bad thing
because a) we can see whats going on
and b) because the action is just geniune pure excellent

no need **** camera work to over compensate or "help" the action

its already good on its on.the camera just need to stay put

-very cool.
using the same examples, those movie rely on sleek 1 liner to showcase its coolness
but john wick cool, because the world its in is cool
the somalier of gun,
the tactical suit tailor
every conversation, every interaction ,ooze uber epic coolness

theres no pointless cheesy 1 liner
john wick show his "cool" thru his movement. every single one of it.

-love the side characters. the villain, laurence fishburne, winston the manager
but all of them are squeezed and used and then throw away
all to build up john wick character.all to showcase his brilliance

a brave move,i respect that
but i prefer to see laurence more
and that gun somalier

-very good movie.possibly 3rd one on his way
but i prefer,or rather i already content with this one
there would be nothing wrong with ending it at chapter 2
because for such perfect masterpiece, would be a pity if its ruin by the next sequel

Chapter 2 has more action sequence then the first john wick but does not deviate from a story point. Director Chad Stahelski again shows Hollywood, with a passionate actor( you would no what i'm talking about if you saw Keanu Reeves training for the movie) you can make a perfect action movie with out shaky camera shots.

All in all john wick 2 is a must see for action genre fans.

It felt fresh and revealed its world with smart, simple choices. Going into John Wick: Chapter 2, I was curious about how it would continue the story. I didn't have to think about that for very long.

Chapter 2 opens at 100mph of amazing action and keeps you interested from the first scene and on. More of the mechanics of this fantastic hitman global network are revealed and developed without hesitation – trusting in the viewer to follow along. The movie is rewarded for that choice, as the story is able to proceed without slowing down. The movie is violent, yes. Cinematically so. But the brutal nature of the carnage here is balanced by many moments of refreshing humor.

I think Chapter 2 is just as good as the original, with the first movie's origin story just barely setting its status apart as a "modern classic" for now – though I would bet that ultimately, these movies will be viewed best as one entity, similar to the way the Kill Bill movies merge to become one massive epic. John Wick might just surpass that.

We finally see the process of having a contract created on a hit and how the message is sent out to all the assassins. It is definitely is more colorful and professional than the film Wanted where hits were crafted in coded cloth from unknown gods. The music in John Wick has been well thought out to deliver power, aggression and action. There was a good balance between knife combat, gun fighting and mix martial arts. The wrestling in the film gave the fight scenes a real rawness and took away the choreograph look. The only thing I would fault is the clarity behind who our villains are. We seem to be given a succession of high leaders from an Italian bloodline but it is unclear of what they actually do and control. I guess the questions have been left to be answered in the next chapter. All I know is I will be there to watch it. Expand

John Wick: Chapter 2 PvC Review (5/25/19)

Pros
Naturally building off the world, action, characters, and rules introduced in the first movie; John Wick: Chapter 2 perfectly continues the story in such an awe inspiring way that cannot be put into mere words. All my complaints from the first movie disappear in this beautifully fashioned tale that dives even deeper into the lore and continues straight off of the first movie with no wasted time to dive straight into the vastly improved action sequences that bleed with style and grace. The scenarios have tremendously improved too with the final major scenario being absolutely jaw-dropping and a blast to watch. In my opinion this may be the perfect sequel, not the perfect movie by any means but a perfect continuation of what was already established in the first movie. It kept me wildly entertained the whole way through but I should discuss the very few cons. + Expands the world in a natural way
+ Scenarios are beautiful
+ Settings are wonderful
+ Action is top-notch + Payoff is satisfying
+ Beautifully shot + Story is intriguing as well as the newer characters
+ Soundtrack is amazing

Cons
Now the reason the pros description was very lackluster was because I could honestly gush about this movie all day. But there are some issues I have found with this flick and while small I should mention them. For instance body continuity on the ground sometimes lacks or the fact that the plot, when expanding the universe, can lead the viewer to get a bit lost at times. Tiny things like that, that I noticed and just couldn’t shake. It never really detracts from the enjoyment of the film at all but they are just being noted as noticed.

- Body continuity can be lacking
- Sometimes new universe details can be hard to follow but they still are intriguing
- Gunplay has improved but I still find it so much more fun when he doesn’t have a gun
- Beats from the first movies plot are revisited, a bit of fanservice but it can feel a bit lazy at points (it is a similar gripe I had with certain sequels, felt familiar to the reused jokes in Deadpool 2)

Overall
John Wick: Chapter 2 is a gem within the genre as it expands the world so lovingly while also providing dramatic improvements over areas where the first film lacked. There are small issues here and there but this movie is beyond entertaining, leaving me craving to see the third installment of the franchise.

If you love guns and martial arts ("Gun Fu") in your films, then John Wick 2 is an absolute must in your collection. Sequels are usually hit and miss, but John Wick 2 is definitely a hit in my opinion. Watched on a 4K LG OLED TV C7 65" with LG UBK90 4K Bluray player. Expand

The second film's action remains excellent but the main way on how it improves on the first film is how throughout the movie, the villains John faces get stronger preventing the movie from feeling repetitive and boring and to ensure it feels like John's actually making progress to reach his goal which is something I'm glad the director realized about the first film. The action remains splendid and it's actually better this time not necessarily because of Keanu Reeves (but to be clear, he's still amazing for the role) or the stronger enemies, but also with how fast and tight the camera moves being incredibly smart on where to position itself so that the action FEELS fast but also in one particular scene where the camera was smartly placed to fool me for a second. The characters are great at their role and the performances are just as good to keep the action feeling fresh even if it could potentially feel repetitive. The main reason why I believe the story is better in the first is because in the first movie, it was primarily all about personal stakes (which to be clear isn't a bad thing) but the second movie one ups that with it also adding lore to the movie and the new lore here does feel earned and I do believe it belongs here. Lastly, John Wick still being an excellent protagonist with how dangerous and terrifying he remains while still reminding us he's still reminding us he's still a human at the end of the day who can still get hurt as pointed out in a specific scene his bullet proof vest can still be painful if hit. Overall, I simply cannot recommend this movie enough if you liked the first film and I certainly cannot wait to see how John Wick 3 builds upon them both. Expand

With great action and a simple, yet effective plot it left us wanting to see more of Wick in the future. Well ladies and gentlemen, here is the encore we've been waiting for. It's really just more of the same, but given how good John Wick was in the first place that's all it really needed to be. It does go a little beyond what it's predecessor did by upping the body count and by playing around with the rules of John Wick's world. The latter is especially significant because that's something a lot of fans asked for. The extra insight as to what makes life as an assassin tick is much appreciated.

There's a wonderful sense of style to the movie. It's an absolutely gorgeous film. The action is brought to life with spectacular, exciting set-pieces. There are plenty of inventive kills and as a result an almost constant stream of memorable moments. Ruby Rose and Common prove to be very welcome additions to the cast as cool and deadly new rivals for Wick. Common's character in particular is almost like a counterpart to Wick. What with the similar personalities, motives, and skill sets. It makes for some incredible fights. I believe they might have also upped the brutality here as well. Thrown in some extra blood. It makes things more exciting.

If there is one flaw to the action it's that the hand-to-hand combat falls back on the old 'watch our hero flip a guy by his arm' trick too often. Every time Wick finds himself without a gun that is always his fallback move. It's noticeable and a little weird. The gunplay however is flawless, fast, and furious. I can't think of another time where it's been this much fun watching people get shot in the head. There also may be an issue with the actual writing. Personally, I didn't notice this, but one person I know who watched it mentioned how it felt like they had seen it before because they could predict how everything was going to play out in the final third of the film, right down to the dialog. Not a big deal in my opinion either way because of how strong the action is. Besides, it's not like the first John Wick is known for redefining plots fo rthe action movie genre.

If you wanted more John Wick then Chapter 2 will most certainly deliver. It has got some of the most exciting fights and shoot outs around. Plus there is style to spare. With a lot of great side-characters and villains to fill in the world and more details into all these rules Wick must follow, there's new here to go along with the familiar. It's also hard to not like that bit of fanservice included by reuniting Reeves with Laurence Fishburne. It's a return trip worth taking that gives viewers exactly what they were wating to see.

Much like what The Raid 2 was to the first Raid, the sequel waists no time, picking up directly after the first film, it is not afraid to introduce and show the mystery of the protagonist once again, but does it in a way that doesn't feel forced for fans of Chapter One or confusing for the newcomers. Without getting into details of the story, which were mercifully left open by the trailers too, the story is a lot more focused, and grander in scale, as expected the vastly intriguing and surprising underworld of the first film, is developed into an international organisation, following the same code and rules of the Continental establishment, with added features and elements that make it stand out once again. Keanu Reeves is the perfect catalyst and guide for the audience as we traverse through territories both foreign and old. The emotional pull of the first film is lacking however, and while we still root for Wick, mostly due to Reeves' stoic, straight-faced and utterly badass portrayal in all scenes he's in, the gravity of the situation is more of a "forced mission" rather than "wilful revenge", which makes the film a little tamer and less hard-hitting in its plot. The supporting cast is great again, small roles given to talented actors, with Ian McShane's Winston, having a larger role in this one, more fatherly than anything to John, While Riccardo Scamarcio, plays a cheeky, but overall not as strong of a villain here, when compared to the humorous, cynical and respectful Viggo from the original, played brilliantly by Michael Nyqvist. However the villains' bodyguards, played by Common and Ruby Rose, respectively are excellent, both of them unique in their own ways, Common's assassin Cassian is seen as more of a equal to John, and their first showdown is nothing but a gigantic western homage of the 70s, while Ruby Rose, is a mute, who speaks with sign language and still manages to joke around, exuding a playful attitude, she's just as good at smirking and winking as she is with knifing and punching. Which brings us to the aspect of the film, that had me laughing like an egotistical maniac seconds before pressing a button to launch a nuke at Russia, had the whole audience fill the theater with "OOOOOOOHHHHH **** !!" " HOLY **** ME" and a lot of other swearing( I think we swore more times than the film itself), the action. Mixing Hong-Kong action film style gunplay and martial arts, former stuntman turned Director Chad Stahelski, directs the ultra-violent, kinetic action sequences with long takes, minimal editing and a lot of suave energy that never gets boring, manages to escalate, works well constantly, a whirlwind of bullets, broken bones and more than one pencil kills. The cast is right there with him professionally, trained to look as real, cool and natural as possible during those long-takes, gun-fu, now a signature action/fighting style of these films is once again endlessly inventive and the times when Reeves twists and rolls, utilises many upon many Jujutsu and Judo moves, while the camera moves with the action for ultimate highlights of kills and takedowns, it is VERY HARD, IM-****ing-POSSIBLE not to have a reaction equalling an orgasm again and again. The Score is fantastic as well, lovers of the tune and the set-piece of the original's Red Circle club need not worry, as the sequel delivers a blistering set-piece during a concert in Rome, with music just as great, if not better. Stahelski is also very inspired himself by action films of the yore, which he makes apparent in what was pretty much a more savage, gunplay oriented finale of Bruce Lee's "Enter The Dragon" mirror house finale, or the Buster Keaton opening signifying a stuntman's dream movie has come to life. John Wick Chapter 2 may not be as good of an all-around package with the story taking almost too ludicrous turns out of reality even for its own established reality, the action sequences and the performances make it one of the most accomplished, compelling and thrilling action films I've ever seen, and to me......... that means everything.

They are both dam good action films that I thoroughly enjoyed and this one is no exception. The plot is really good, the fight scenes are expertly shot and the performances are very good as well. The dialogue can be hokey at times and there are a few plot holes to kind of fill in but they are nothing that break the film as a whole. Honestly, this could already be going into my ‘Best films of 2017” list. On a lot of levels I enjoyed it more than the previous film but on other levels I think the first film did certain aspects of it better. Honestly, I think its best to take the two as a whole, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like this film as an individual. Dam no, this was fantastic. The ending indicates there is going to be a sequel and IMDB and Keanu Reeves are already speculating there will be and I really hope there is because I think they are primed to do it and this could be an excellent film series that I would want to come back to. Never Stab The Devil In The Back

"Matrix", The Wachowskis' pinnacle work and reforming of the 1990s action films, announced sinuously some of the most superb and appealing minds in the nonstop action movies. Two of Neo's stunt doubles, the emblematic main lead played by Reeves, have rebuilt and invigorated a genre which gradually verges on the inadmissible to entertain; they, like The Wachowski, burst in the middle of bullets and blood with touches of black humor, martial arts and choreographed nearly sublime aesthetics in their directional debut "John Wick".Unthinkable was its commercial and critical splendor, which cooperated driving the evident continuation of Boogeyman's story in order to dilate and delve into Hotel Continental's registered assassin universe.Like any sequel, it runs the risk of withering that eccentric formula which dazzled in the first installment, on the contrary, and miraculously—keeping in mind unpleasant second parts about films of today,— this is much more violent, much darker, much more brutal and a lot better made than the original. Jonathan is back with another dog, other gadgets, and another reason to kill.

Wick hasn't concluded the singular self-compensation in the name of his adorable pet, just one item needs to be crossed out in the list of the refrigerator: his car. After "recovering" his costly auto, he determines to absolve himself of that Russian mafia and that hotel which tore his life down once and for all, nevertheless, his first free nap is hampered by recent ghosts. Now, Jonathan must go back to his life as a gun killer to finalize a pact that involuntarily reopened. The problem is that he'll have to do it with an auction for 7 million dollars to his back, meaning each assassin in Rome or New York is behind his steps. A cocktail of bullets, blood, neat beauty and action to its maximum expression.

A cult movie wasn't adequately entertained and conscientiously filmed like this one for a long period, which converts it into the best action feature film in recent months. Its director understands how to build up the frantic scenes with readable shots, static angles, sketched fights and a gleaming visual status quo accompanied by myriad elements convening a great cinematic banquet, where morbidity, injuries, and amorality don't distort behind the PG-13 rating. He knows the legacy which is in his hands, his mission is to keep it up and as one would expect of any sequel, developing better and bigger things, for example: one substitute pet or a new classic scene.

Reeves, a loathed and idolized actor in equal measure returns strengthened to the role which gave back him contemporary glory: John Wick. This time, the man exhibits solid convictions which justify his vindictive ire; actions are savage and remorseless, nonetheless, aftermath are serious enough to continue stirring up his wrath which has held since his spouse's death. Wick may be a killing machine, but in his emotional level stands out his self- awareness. Rome comes with special guests, who supply empathic and outstanding performances, from a fatal mute lady, portrayed by an always excellent Ruby Rose, to malicious and scowling Santino D'Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio), from a violent Cassian (Common) to old well-known Laurence Fishburne, into what seems a brief cameo.

Artistic determinations are equal and even more unusual than narrative ones, in a neo-noir story where the politically incorrect decisions are the first happening, emphasizing in capital letters the unexpected twist (shot) inside the Hotel. It's difficult to see such levels of elegance and repugnance combined in an action movie. Among so many compliments and wise choices, the most remarkable is its amazing mise-en-scène, photography, and staging; they're sublime and imposing, stunning and superb, images exceeding their expression limits together with a soundtrack that points to the audience's heart; a blood ceremony grotesque sensibly as to admire the beauty of human nature. From neon colors to Romanesque streets, from car chases in the rain to shootings in underground caves with heavy music, from nudes to stab-wounds; night or day, city or plain, the filmmakers employed all their tools.

"John Wick: Chapter 2" is the correct sequel for first installment's eccentricities; the sequences and twist plot don't let down, by the contrary, duplicate the effective results with daring performances, exquisite scenarios and a cinematography that will leave real film lovers astounded. Ironically, the smallest details are which work against it, however, are harmless but visible. Wick ends with a beautiful open ending, which will culminate in a third and possibly last part of the life of a man seeking redemption, revenge, and peace. A cocktail of radiant narrative, artistic and technical decisions. "Wick" is the film that any twenty-first-century action motion picture would wish to be. An aggressive, hectic and subversive experience.

The best way I can describe the amped up on ever level sequel is James Bond meets Jason Bourne. Everyone is so suave and chilled in the amazingly deep Continental hideouts but as soon as guns are a blazing blood is spilled big time. John Wick has aimbot enabled throughout this glorious badass film and it's the most fun I've had with this genre since a Casino Royale. I will definitely be seeing this as many times as I can on the big screen because John Wick Chapter Two is a masterpiece that can only be believed if you see it yourself!

He isn't a superhero (but he seems), is a regular person & makes you feel that you can be him. lots of action without any cuts, many weapons, hand-to-hand fights, Jujitsu; It's not the typical movie where the bullets are always; people hurts him, It's much more credible than the rest of films of this genre. a Cassian (Common) spin-off could be made, since he follows the same method as John, behaves in the same way; the choreographies are beautiful, the production design is visually exquisite and photography is beautiful. This is La La Land for action movies. I want John Wick 3 now. Expand

It has an awesome soundtrack and the choreography is beautiful to watch, especially the opening car scene. This movie doesn't give you an eyesore like a Michael Bay or John Woo movie would with tons of camera angles. Keanu does a great job of showing us what a retired assassin is still capable of doing and his gunkata skills never get old. It has a very simple story line so don't expect any major plot twists. More of the John Wick assassin world is explored and new people and locations are shown too. Only reason i'm not giving this a 10 rating is because i was expecting a big finale but instead we got a short and powerful ending which leaves enough room for a 3rd movie. Will definitely be buying this on Bluray. Expand

Genial. Un 9.

This time the film plays out fairly similar to the first only this time the dog thankfully doesn't die. Keanu Reeves does all of his own stunts the same as the first and it works brilliantly. There's no shaky cam or episodes during fight scenes where the camera is jerking around everywhere so you can really admire the incredible amount of effort that Keanu put into making this film. One more thing I really enjoyed about this is that this time around the filmmakers delved deeper into the secret society that was introduced in the first film. After the first film many moviegoers included myself wanted that badly and it's clear the filmmakers heard those pleas. The only negative I can mention is that the sheer size and influence of this secret society sometimes reaches the point of being a bit ludicrous and almost fantasy especially at the end of the film. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. John Wick: Chapter 2 is even more incredible than the first one. This one of my favorite action movies of all time and one of my favorite movies of all time overall. The action scenes and fighting choreography are even more awesome and impressive in this one, I especially loved the fight scene between Keanu Reeves and Ruby Rose. Keanu Reeves performance as John Wick is just as stupendous and cool as in the first one. Ruby Rose, Common, Lance Reddick, John Leguizamo, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Riccardo Scamarcio also gave terrific supporting performances. The film score was also really great. This is a for sure A+ movie and can't wait for Chapter 3. Expand

Not too many sequels follow a similar path to the original and still manage to make it as good. John Wick Chapter 2 does so because even tho the main plot is similar, it actually tells you new things about the world Wick lives in.

By that I mean you learn a lot more about new people and places that you saw in the previous film. For example, you learn more about the Continental Hotel and more of the rules that are in place when people like John stay there. Little details like that really open this world up to interpretation and a possible cinematic universe that could branch off from the background we got in this movie. While you are following John Wick the entire time, the scale of this movie is much larger than the first. In that you visit a lot more places around the world unlike the first film that was primarily based in New York for the whole movie. The expansion, in scale, really benefited the movie because you got a look more into John’s past and who he’s interacted with throughout his time as a hitman.

The filmmaking on display in this movie is something that all action movie directors and actors need to take notes on. This is some of the best action filmmaking I’ve ever seen. This really comes to light in this movie because of Keanu Reeves and his physical acting with the stunt work he does in this movie. While there are parts that a stunt double was needed, you clearly see that for a ton of those fight scenes it is Keanu doing a lot of the stunts himself. It is so refreshing to see and actor who can do his own stunts and isn’t afraid to be physical with his role. This also translated to amazing editing of the movie with a lack of cuts and shaky cam that makes your eyes hurt. This puts less stress on the director, a former stuntman, and allows them create these amazing action sequences without a variety of cuts and allows the audience to see the action. It’s so hard today to find an action movie that does that all that because many actors are incapable of doing their own stunts. This movie was a breath of fresh air with the amazing filmmaking on display with all of the one-take action scenes that the audience is in awe while watching.

John Wick Chapter 2 is an amazing sequel and Keanu gives another amazing performance as the hitman himself. Some of the best on-screen action I’ve ever seen while sitting in the theatre. The filmmaking on display is great and John Wick Chapter 2 is a more than fitting sequel to John Wick.

As with the first movie, this one is more about style (cool locations and blasting music) than story (minimal, hackneyed dialogue). The body count is absurdly high, as Wick dispatches men with direct gunshots and ruthless blows. But that's what makes it fun: watching what new ways they'll come up with to inflict pain and death. I am always whining about the fight scenes in movies being so fast edited that you can't tell what's going on (the last Bourne movie for example), but in this film they actually take the time to choreograph all the fights and you can see it all. Very action-packed, and at times very gory. The audience was screaming and squirming at times. Great locales too, especially the catacombs in Italy. The ending sets up another sequel and I look forward to it. The only real negative is that the bad guys can't shoot and kill John at close distances even when he is grossly outnumbered, but of course that happens in every shoot-em-up film of this genre. Really well done film. Expand

Still though Keanu Reeves really has put his all into this and you can tell how much he trained just by the action scenes alone. His acting leaves something to be desired but you don't go into a movie like this expecting award winning acting so I'll let it slide. Because, with Wickmasters Chad Stahelski and Derek Kolstad still at the creative helm of this brilliantly choreographed ship, you're in more than just safe hands. Sure, the impetus for this sequel is nowhere near as raw and primal as the inciting incident from its predecessor, but thanks to some next-level set pieces, and a heap load of development added to the heightened world we all fell in love with in 2014, we are given more than enough to latch on to and fawn over here. It's the kind of "Dark-Knight/Empire-Strikes-Back-esque" second installment that makes you wish the powers-that-be had just shot the third part alongside of it - so you wouldn't have to wait that long to find out what happens next. All eyes on him and all guns pointed at him.

It was not an attracting title for a sequel. The first film was good, completely an unexpected, but I was expecting this one, even though not as much as I was excited to see 'Jack Reacher 2'. That film was good, but did not meet with its first film's merit. And this sequel, really amazing. One of best follow-up flick and better than the original. That feat considered very rare in cinema and here is the one.

Entirely different than the first. I meant the storyline. A new action, a new adventure, and even on a bigger scale. Though the initial parts were average. I totally disliked that killing assignment Mr. Wick took in his hand, but what followed after made the film great, definitely not to be missed for that alone. Especially if you are an ardent action film fan. For me, that reminded me 'Kill Bill', but they are not the same kind, except the fighting concept with hundreds.

Continued from a couple of days later where the previous narration had ended. Now the retired assassin, John Wick forced to take a final job, but soon he finds he was backstabbed. Every eye on the town on him and every gun pointing at him, there's no way he could get out of it easily. So, he has to fight them all, just in order to survive. Then what comes later are even more aggressive screenplay that's ends with left open the door for the third film.

Now this became a stylish franchise. That's what happens when a stuntman takes up the directional job for an action flick. He did not write it, but he knew exactly how to create them, technically perfectly. Besides, he got wonderful, dedicated actors to achieve that. Not just Reeves, but all were awesome. Believe the third film would be a kick-ass, particularly the pace that could match with likes 'Crank'. Just watch it already and be prepared for the next, the mega finale.
