Jem and the holocaust is one of the most annoying piece of sh*t film making I've seen since Home Alone 4.

The whole movie tries so hard to be inspiring, uplifting and mainstream, but it fails on doing that and it just came off embarrassing. I also have to comment on is how freaking unrealistic the movie is, I mean how Jem gets famous is so freaking stupid. She makes an ordinary, unoriginal and just by the books YouTube video of herself singing (Just like everyone else on YouTube), but suddenly over night she becomes a smash hit, everyone loves her and shes going to be on TV, even when the video itself was alright and very basic with nothing special or even famous worthy about the video, but nope, in this movies dumb logic that's what it takes. I'm not joking, that's what happens in this movie and it annoyed the crap out of me, just because the movie acts like this stuff happens in real life when it doesn't, I mean it took Justin Bieber awhile to get famous and he had to work hard for it.

Another thing that made this movie truly awful is how the movie tries to have a "message" about today's music, because the main characters talk about how music today has lost it's touch and how generic it is, and somehow they music is going to bring the music we love back on it's feet, but this is where the movie really shoots itself in the foot, because the music is this movie is some of the most generic, soulless, bland and just a rip-off of other pop artists that we have right now. This movie has the balls to call today's songs "generic", even when the music is this movie might be ten times more generic or worst. The movie acts like it has a point even when it doesn't, it's atrocious and came off pretty pretentious when it came to the "message". I can't imagine people listening to this music and call it "good". This is the type of music that 10 minute year old babies will enjoy.

The character's are bland, the acting is sh*t and the music is so generic. I feel so bad for the fans of the original Jem for witnessing such a train wreck like this.

Overall Jem and the Holocaust (And yes, I'm still calling it that), is just atrocious, awful and unspeakable. Everything in this movie failed.

Two generic recycled plots mashed together, unlikable and forgettable characters with no motivations and the worst soundtrack ever put on film is only half of the sins this almost unwatchable stinker commits. Instead of taking inspirationTwo generic recycled plots mashed together, unlikable and forgettable characters with no motivations and the worst soundtrack ever put on film is only half of the sins this almost unwatchable stinker commits. Instead of taking inspiration from the original and making something fun and cheesy with over the top awesome stuff like motorcycles shaped like guitars and possessed supercomputers with holographic powers, this is just a painfully dull nothing of a film with no point or meaning to any of it. It's just another cynical cash grab trying to ride the awful John Green wave of young adult fiction and have NOTHING to do with the source material. Go watch the original show instead if you want to have any sort of fun or you value your ears Expand

It's bad, and he describes it in the best way I've heard so far. Not to mention this movie asked fans of the original Jem why they liked the series, and they copy pasted their answers into the end of the movie to make it look like they were talking about this **** movie, and not the animated series. The people who made this movie are truly malicious and lowdown. Expand

This box office bomb --- it made $2,255,211 worldwide against a $5 million budget --- is not as good as you wanted it to be as from the series that adopted this movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Jem and the Holograms sets a brand new low to how bad a cartoon adaptation is. Lemme get the elephant in the room out of the way: the movie takes everything that makes the show great and decimates it. Oh, trust me, I don't mean like a product of its time with one or two things from the show, you have no idea how unfaithful to the cartoon this can get. The story of the movie just is your bland everyday band drama we've seen hundreds of times, where I'd rather watch the YouTube video segues than the movie itself, the characters are all one-dimensional, and by that I mean all of them, and the songs are horribly written. But the weirdest aspect of them all is the ending. Little known fact: the creators actually gave the fans of the show a chance to be in it, but once they were submitted, the creators edit it to make the fans look like they're not talking about cartoon Jem, but the movie version. And it is INCREDIBLY lazy. My biggest example is that there's one shot of a guy dancing and you can see the cartoon playing in the background. Wow. That is the laziest thing I've ever seen in an adaptation. The plus to the movie? Well, the performance of Audrey Peeples is fine, the songs are, although terribly written, kind of nice to listen to, and again, I'd rather watch 1 hour and 30 minutes the YouTube video segues than the movie itself. At least the people in the segues are showing talent. I may have never watched the cartoon, but I know a bad adaptation when I see one. Like I said before, the movie takes its source material, and rips it to shreds into a badly written and lazy band drama. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This film is so bad it's good, like when the girls are harmonizing that solves all of their problems, but it's very stupid, and using footage from fans and making it look like they're talking about this Jem is an awful move.

By the way for the last hour, all of the story takes place in 1 day. So Jerrica signing a solo contract, having a fallout with her sisters, going on stage, getting stressed out, going to her childhood home, breaking into Starlight Enterprises (even though her partner Rio is the son of the owner), finding the final piece to Synergy, seeing a hologram of her dad, finding the will of Rio's dad, Rio taking over Starlight, firing his mom, the girls becoming a band again, performing again, and Erica going to the Misfits (which is the one thing they actually got right) all happens in 1 F**KING DAY! So pathetic, yet so laughably and entertainingly bad

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was tough but I truly watched this film without thinking of the source material, and though there were parts that were quite touching, this whole film came off as lazy. YouTube clips unrelated to the film, but edited down and filtered throughout, as well using Google Maps to show the location of the next scene just come across as a director who did not care. The only redeeming part of this film is the mid-credits scene that open up a potentially amazing sequel, however the box office numbers show us that this will not happen. Expand

I give this a four because it's funny at the end they try to set up a sequel. I don't care this was done on a $5 million budget when rebooting an old property to a new generation you should try to get it your all to stay true to the original. Expand

Rather than a rich girl discovering a fancy computer, the projections (not really holograms) are made by an adorable little robot. All of the girls are sisters, not friends, and they are looking for a way to keep from losing their house. Jem is made famous by a video that she meant to delete, but apparently everyone on YouTube loves it and she gets recruited by a famous record producer. Of course, if you remember the cartoon it is obvious who the bad guy is pretty fast. Of course everything works out in the end and it is left open for a sequel that will probably never happen.
