This movie's such a pleasure. It's a light rom-com, but it has a deeper sense of place and character than most, and its protagonist is genuinely...it's not like it gestures towards "oh she doesn't have it together", it's like _she doesn'tThis movie's such a pleasure. several genuine LOLs while watching this movie. if you're 25-55 years old, you'll almost certainly know these characters very well, and relate to them. as everyone is saying, milioti was charming, but so were the supporting characters. what'sseveral genuine LOLs while watching this movie. if you're 25-55 years old, you'll almost certainly know these characters very well, and relate to them. as everyone is saying, milioti was charming, but so were the supporting characters. what's also nice is that the movie takes itself just seriously enough to keep your interest, but not more. just a guilt and angst-free way to enjoy yourself for 1.5 hours or so. i def recommend.… Expand

I loved this movie! Laugh out loud funny and Cristin Milioti is amazing. I don't usually like romantic comedies but this one was totally refreshing. Nice to see the genre isn't dead.

Those romantic comedies that give you that special "all-is-right-with-the-world" feelings are precious few. "It had to be you" is just that rom-com, and manages to do so while avoiding all the typical tropes of the perfect womanbot found in most rom-coms. The protagonist is warm, confused, and totally believable. It's so refreshing to see a female protagonist who is a real person - realizing she's out of toilet paper while she's peeing, trying to figure out what women do when they say they're going to "freshen up" (I've always wondered this myself), and generally being at odds with femininity, all the while being a lovable, if not befuddled, romantic lead. There were a number of points in this movie when I laughed out loud and could not stop laughing. Perfect for a cozy night at home or going through a romantic rough patch.… Expand
