Full of some surprisingly great dialogue that is occasionally punctuated by fairly good fight scenes. The overarching plot didn't really do much for me and I didn't really invest in any of the supporting characters - understandably this film is about Ip Man so the focus is largely on him. It did feel more like a filmed play than a movie production. An OK film but nothing to write home about. Expand

Too bad it shows it in such a disjointed manner. The whole movie looks like a collection of semi-linked events that doesn't even gravitate around a plot excepted Ip Man's life. This makes it even more complicated to identify which character takes up which place. This goes in every directions.

Colours are great, some camera angles are truly inspired while fights are very agreeable to watch (excepted the group fights that quickly look chaotic). The pace of the feature is quite bad. Characters are really hard to get in touch with, especially Ip Man (embodied by Anthony Chau-Sang Wong) that very often appears to be emotionless.

I guess it did the job as a biopic movie but it certainly not that entertaining and way too often falls flat.

Disappointingly boring movie with very predictable plot considering the previous entries in the series. The anti-American bigotry pervading the movie is so over the top, it's way beyond a caricature.
