The Nolan brothers mix in real theoretical concepts of astrophysics into the story (singularities, wormholes, time dilation) but also unwisely choose to have the characters banter back and forth these complex ideas in order to prop up a plot with more than a few holes (even for a sci-fi flick). The casting is just okay: McConaughey is riding the high tide he has enjoyed from solid work in "Dallas Buyers Club" and HBO's "True Detective", and has the requisite Texas twang of an astronaut/engineer who is convinced to leave his earthbound family behind in the name of preservation of no less than the entire human race. Anne Hathaway is something a curiosity as an unconvincing astrophysicist, but apparently gets the Nolan 'pass' from her previous work in "The Dark Knight Rises". Then Matt Damon appears later in the film, entirely out of place as a failed mission commander whose motives may or may not be altruistic.

Christopher Nolan has done his youthful homework: there are ideas borrowed from a fanboy's inspirational memories of "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Solaris". I won't deny some of the film's visuals are stunning and actually effective when it comes time to render an environment as unfathomable as the very center of a singularity inside a cosmic black hole. But no amount of editing can reconcile the back-and-forth of an astronaut trapped inside some theoretical dimension of a singularity (when really he would have been shredded at the event horizon), and the quiet, lonely space on earth of a young daughter's bedroom.

"2001", "Solaris": these films were also laden with big ideas. But they granted the subconsciousness of the audience space to work through very abstract concepts without trying to dictate either clumsy exposition or a Hollywood happy ending.

It has perfectly demonstrated the significance of worm hole and Black hole in an unprecedented manner which no one has ever seen before. There are many apocalypse movies but this one has the most realistic and believable story line which is a real possibility in the future history of our planet Earth.

The best part of the movie is when protagonist visits the planet which is near by Gargantua (which is a black hole) and he realized that 1 hour on that planet is equivalent to 7 years on Earth due to unimaginable gravity of Black hole... OMG its mind boggling isn't it?

and its soundtrack is also very heart touching and memorable which will echo in your mind for a long period of time after you watch this movie. If movie is an art, then this is an ideal example of it.

It is a must watch for Sci-Fi movies Fans or lovers...

Why I didn't like it: The movie is to slow paced for to long of a time. At moments, nothing really happened. The begining is the slowest of the whole movie. Where Nolan had to keep it interesting, he didn't, which is why I have mixed feelings. And the movie is waaay to long for me. The movie had its sheer moments of emotions, and damn I have to admit I teared up a few times.

His films are almost perfect, but there are clearly ups and downs in his filmography. But the essential issue that promotes him as an artist is his almost extreme dedication to a notion of creativity and respect for the audience. He does not just want to tell a story about the world of mixed dreams, he wants us to be emotionally invested so that we finally understand that the essential core in any movie will always fall back on the emotional aspect, or rather, on our ability to re- positively or negatively) on the characters that fill the screen. The film of this master of the 21st Century is called "Interstellar" and I say that it is a risky film and that, in general, it succeeds in its difficult task. It is undoubtedly one of the films of that year, the making and photography are particularly studied in this film when absolutely everything, from the first minute, seems realistic and without CGI (Computer Graphic Imagery). The soundtrack is, at this time, a seal of Nolan in all its films and this one does not disappoint in anything, accompanies the film as if of an opera it was, with the crescendos to be intense and sweeping and the scenes more tense to leave someone breathless due to subtle touches. Interpretations are, as a general rule, very good. Regarding the story, it is difficult to go into detail without revealing much of the narrative so I will conclude by saying that this is one of the best films of that year. However Nolan revealing that thematically has no limits and that his vision is more a gift for those who love cinema intensely. Expand

About a week ago I saw Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s new Sci-Fi epic.

It’s taken me this long to write about because honestly, my opinion on the film is still changing. Part of me wants to call it a masterpiece, part of me wants to mark it down as an overthought and underwritten mess.

The truth (or at least how I see it, and lets face it, I’m just one of thousands of nerds shouting into the vast vacuum of the internet where no one can hear you scream) is somewhere in the middle.

Parts of Nolan’s ambitious story of wormholes, relativity and the fifth dimension are truly awe inspiring. The space scenes, and even some of the more intimate character moments, are just pure cinema at its best and NEED to be experienced in the movie theatre. It’s hard to even describe the wormhole scene about an hour into the film because we have simply never seen anything like it before. In the era of endless reboots, sequels and ridiculous special effects, that feat is almost enough to justify seeing the movie by itself.

But Interstellar goes beyond stunning visuals. Nolan has become a star of a director, one who’s name can sell out cinema screenings in a way not seen since Spielberg’s glory days. This means every actor in the business is clamouring to work with him and that pays off big time here.

I am now fully on board with the McConaissance. Shamefully, I still haven’t seen Dallas Buyers Club (I know I need to but it’s really hard to motivate yourself to watch something so dark and heavy when you could just watch Guardians of the Galaxy again) but I was absolutely blown away by True Detective earlier this year. McConaughey’s world weary and at times bitter performance ground Interstellar and stop it from becoming a dreary, if spectacular, three hour science lesson.

Here in lies the essential problem of the film, and it’s one that is starting to threaten film as a format. Three hours is simply not long enough to tell the story Nolan is trying to tell.

In the new golden age of television we are now seeing, complex and epic plots play out across sixty hours of movie quality entertainment. With the likes of Game of Thrones, House of Cards and Breaking Bad now eating up weeks of viewers time, its hard for a film to make the same impact. How can any actor or any director make you invest in a character and a story the same way you have with Walter White or Tyrion Lannister in just two and a half hours?

This is not to say people can’t love movie characters or stories, it just means that performances and scripts have to be that much tighter and direct in order to really connect.

The problem with Interstellar is that there is so much dense science to explain and such an involved story to tell that the character development and emotional impact get lost in the mix.

The films greatest strength is also its greatest weakness — the cinema as a format. If Nolan had instead made a five part HBO miniseries, for instance, telling the same story, he could have achieved both the character development and the mind blowing scientific accuracy he’s striving for.

The downside is we would then miss out on the shear spectacle of the sights and sounds (Hans Zimmer, killing it yet again) on display as they should be experienced.

Maybe we already have the solution — the splitting of films into multiple parts. Unfortunately this format seems to have been highjacked by young adult novel adaptations looking to increase their all important box office. Not something I think Nolan would sign off on, I mean this is the guy who refused to shoot the Dark Knight films in 3D despite studio pressure to the contrary.

Would audiences go for an Interstellar parts 1 and 2? Maybe not given the films critical reaction.

The fact remains, Nolan has created something special with Interstellar. Supported by a flawless cast and a truly original and mind blowing premise, it is both a cinematic triumph and a harsh reminder of the limitations of film.

To use a really cheesy suburban wall art saying, Nolan reaches for the moon and, even though he falls, he lands in the stars.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Interstellar attempts to be a character-driven space drama grounded in pseudo-realism. “Attempts” being the operative word. The character-driven drama is undermined by awkward story jumps and rushed / poorly explained motivations (though at almost three hours, the film isn’t short). None of this is helped by some nonsensical subversion of sci-fi common sense (seriously, who would think about inhabiting a planet near a black hole - let alone THREE planets near a black hole?). Add in a classic time-travel paradox and the seeds have been sown for some major confusion. It's a Christopher Nolan film, of course, so you can expect some great visuals, a great score by Hans Zimmer, and some good acting by all involved (except, strangely enough, leading man Matthew McConaughey, who mumbles half his lines and has a wooden expression on his face for the first two-thirds of the film). Interstellar tries to be thoughtful, insightful, reflective and predictive, but never inspires the sense of wonder that is a part of any great sci-fi film.

Interstellar is worth a watch once if you enjoy Nolan's film-making. Watch it again and you'll begin to pick the flaws apart. A disappointing 6/10.

Based on an era in the near future, where humanity is dying of crop failure due to severe dust storms,a team of space explorers from NASA must find an inhabitable planet for our survival!
The movie is an epic space adventure where gigantic cinematic celestial landmarks are traversed to meet the potential planets!
Using principles of Einstein's Equations of General Relativity, the movie uses the most accurate scientific aspect for science geeks which is beautifully woven in the screenplay and in the visual elements!
The visuals for the rendering of black holes and giant tidal waves and wormholes use minimal CGI and maximum practical effects making the audience have the best cinematic experience!
The score by Hans Zimmer is by-far his best composition ever!It pumps you up in every thrilling moments and shakes you at sudden moments and also connects oneself with the eternal!
Deep down,it also is about a father-daughter love story and beautifully explores the concepts of time-dilation,isolation and relationships between the alive and the dead via scientific explanations explained for understanding of the common audience too!
Overall, the movie is a thrill-ride on cinema-scale as an hour and 6 minutes of it was shot on IMAX film! The movie is so-far Nolan's most ambitious project and dwells into the hearts of its audience!!!

Cinematography, sound design, VFX, acting -- all on point. It is definitely one of the most challenging movies to watch, but not for any of the cheap/cliché reasons being exploited in Hollywood. It's challenging because the content and information itself is so abstract, and forces the audience member to evolve their own understanding of how the universe and physics work in order to comprehend the plot. The only, "gimme," is the wormhole--but beyond that, there's not really any hand-holding. No, instead Nolan wants you to watch and re-watch this film over and over, research astrophysics and time-space on your own, and secure as firm of grasp on these concepts as possible. And you better hold on tight once you do, because this movie is one hell of a ride. Expand

The master of twists and deception made Batman real, showed us how dreams work in Inception, and brought us inside the dangerous world of magic in the Presitige. In his latest film, Interstellar, Nolan tackles the concept of time and how different it is from what we perceive. This film does have a great twist in the end and some terrific special effects, but beyond that it is one of the longest and slowest moving films I've seen in years. Once again, Humans have finally destroyed Earth and have gone looking for a new home, but outside our solar system, things are much different than they appear. Time and gravity are different concepts in different regions of space, and the effects on the crew, who had hoped to one day see their families again, diminish with each passing day. Matthew McConaughey stars and as is the case with most of his films, he's terrific. Based on some of the poor choices he made in his younger years, he has a bad rep among critics, but the fact is that he's always fun to watch, and is one of the most intense actors out there today. As for the rest of the film, it's usually Nolan's genius that makes the film unique and special, but in this instance he was too smart for his own good. The story moves very slowly and at times is more than somewhat confusing, not to mention at nearly three hours long, it's a challenge to sit through to even reach his famous twist at the end. Nolan films are something I always look forward to, as they are different and both entertain me and make me think, but in this case, I was just beyond bored and fed up with the whole thing. I guess sometimes even genius takes a holiday. Expand

The Prestige, Inception and TDKR all had plenty of WTF moments (such as the crew formulating plans on board the ship rather than preparing in advance), sure, but you can forgive them because the rest is so good. Not so here. The story absolutely fell apart at the end for me and those moments I refer to can’t be redeemed. The film could still have been saved if it looked spectacular – but to me it just looked really, really bland! The two planets they visit are feature the dullest looking vistas imaginable – endless sea and endless snow. The space exterior scenes were completely lacking in awe or majesty. The camera always seemed to cut away too quick. On the plus side, I enjoyed MMs performance and I really enjoyed the time bending aspects of the story when they visit the first planet. Overall this was a wasted opportunity. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If there is one rule of a work of fiction, it is that you must care about the characters, because if you don’t care about the characters, it is very unlikely that you are going to care about what happens to them.

And, alas, I have to admit, I wasn’t left caring about the characters by the end of this movie – the only characters I really ended up caring about were the faceless robots, who seemed to have more personality than the human cast did. And given that the movie itself was resolved with a deus ex machina, it is really hard to recommend.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

The movie opens with some farmers, and it becomes clear a ways into the movie that this is a sort of post-apocalyptic Earth. The movie doesn’t do a great job of showing this in shorthand, and ultimately, the problem is that magical nitrogen-breathing microbes are, apparently, killing everything.

Thus, humanity needs a new planet, and would-be-NASA Astronaut Joseph Cooper, who has turned to farming in the face of a global crop blight, needs to go to space to save the world by finding a new planet. But not just any sort of space trip – he’s going to go through a wormhole that someone has conveniently placed next to Saturn.

Interstellar is ostensibly a sci-fi movie, but it is ultimately fantasy. The beginning of the movie has Cooper is lead to the secret NASA facility to become humanty’s savior by aliens from beyond space-time sending him the coordinates by writing in dust in his house and knocking books of the shelves of his daughter’s bookcase. A wormhole conveniently appeared next to Saturn to give humanity a way out of the solar system.

And while this is all okay as setup, the movie continues to make contrivances. The ultimately solution to humanity’s plight is a deus ex machina delivered by aliens from beyond space-time – or possibly future humans. Whatever the case, it is a solution that comes not from the characters in the movie, but from an external force, meaning that, ultimately, all of the characters struggles were resolved by magic as well.

If the characters had been interesting, this might have been okay. But they weren’t. The central conflict of the movie – Cooper having to choose between saving people who already exist, and providing for a potential future for the human species – was potentially interesting, but ultimately, the movie doesn’t really go anywhere with it. Cooper is upset, certainly, but in the end nothing Cooper did really ended up resolving that conflict – it was resolved in his favor by external forces, and there’s no actual human resolution to it. Without any other personality to speak of - just these two character traits - he's not really a very interesting character.

His costar is Dr. Amelia Brand, a fellow astronaut who seems generally nice and sort of focused on the future. She is in love with one of the astronauts who was sent out before them and hopes to rescue them, but the most important thing to her is the future of humanity. However, there’s very little real personality here – again, I can’t list off more than a couple of character traits. She’s rather flat as a character, and just sort of is there.

And this problem is endemic to the cast – most of them feel like they’re just kind of there, and have maybe two personality traits tops. Only Michael Caine’s doctor character and Matt Damon’s Dr. Mann, the astronaut survivor who they find, feel at all like real people – and in both cases, it is quickly undermined by the plot. Dr. Mann in particular is problematic – he notes how lonely he felt and how scared he was of dying alone, but then tries to murder people for no real reason while talking about saving humanity. It is bizarre and nonsensical, and consumes a big chunk of the movie’s run-time for no real reason.

TARS and CASE, the two robots that are brought along on the spaceship, show more personality than the entire human cast – TARS is snarky, and the back-and-forths between TARS and the human cast are the best character moments in the movie. TARS and CASE feel like the real heroes to some extent, and honestly leave me wondering why they didn’t just send robots, as they are apparently both clever and adaptable. I enjoyed their wise-cracking, and their roles felt like the most interesting ones.

Sadly, they were not enough to carry the movie, and we’re left with a plodding 2 hour and 40 minute long film that doesn’t leave earth until 42 minutes in. My lack of concern for the characters meant that their success and failure didn’t touch me, and the constant contrivances meant I couldn't care about the plot. In the end, it felt like I was being drug by the nose through something full of puppets on strings, attempting to tell an arbitrary story without much real substance to it.

It's a good a father/daughter relationship movie but a poor sci-fi movie.
As a father of 2 girls, I was quite moved but the story failed to respect science.
This movie reminded me of Contact with Jodie Foster, a film that marked my childhood.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Christopher Nolan delivers a thrilling tale of space travel, emotion, and sacrifice. The plot is original and becomes increasingly captivating at the end, where questions of the universe and life are asked, all while you are praying that Cooper will get to see his daughter again. Interstellar delivers amazing visuals, fantastic performances, and an awesome sci-fi adventure across the stars, while humanity's fate hangs in the balance. Accompanied by a compelling and riveting score composed by Hans Zimmer, Interstellar is must-see for anyone who likes science fiction, heartbreaking and emotional stories, and gorgeous vistas of space. Interstellar is a wonderfully crafted narrative about the fate of the human race in the hands of a well-meaning farmer and a scientist, and though I've seen many stories where our future hung in the balance, few made me feel it the way Interstellar did, or made me trust that it was in the best hands. This was the movie that made me take Matthew McConaughey seriously as an actor, as all I remember seeing him in before were U-571 and Reign of Fire. You can tell that this job is too big for him, so he tries his damnedest to focus on just one thing: the daughter he left behind. He never gives up on her, and Anne Hathaway's character never gives up on him. The robots were great too! Expand

This is thanks to some extremely touching character development that Nolan manages to protray perfectly (with help from some great acting.) It ticks the emotional engagement box just as well as it ticks the spectacle box too, because 'Interstellar' is visually stunning, and features yet another incredible Zimmer soundtrack. Also, as per Nolan, we get some extremely thought provoking themes explored, and this time it's truly mind-bending
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Mind-bending it is, because the physics and concepts in this film are very hard to get your head around, and that does come slightly at the expense of an understandable narrative yet again.
VERDICT: Interstellar is incredible, and each moment is very gripping and engaging. It will leave you feeling thrilled and amazed, if slightly confused too.

nterstellar was phenomenal up untill the last 30 or so minutes when that movie implodes in itself and completely destroys my love for it.
Even with enormously ambitious ideas and a overwhelming score beautifully composed by Hans Zimmer, this dazzling but flawed science fiction film suffers from lots of ''In-Your-Face'', expository dialogue and other forms of explination, plot holes and inconsistencies throughout the whole movie where this reaches an all-time high at the end, which is contrived and almost impossible to make sense out of.

Interstellar is a fun and entertaining movie, but definitely doesnt deserve the immense praise it is getting, because it is ultimatly a very flawed film. (Like C'Mon it's in the higher end of the top 50 on IMDb)?

The movie is essential about time and how it gets mess up once you travel outside our solar system and about love, loss and being absent while your son or daughter grows without having you present on their life.

Interstellar is a very good movie that is intense, emotional and full of action. It plays with the concepts of space and science, and wraps it into a setting where humanity is on the verge of losing the ability to live on earth.
Without spoiling the movie, I was worried that this would be another space movie that feels isolated from loved ones, and trapped like other non-fantasy space movies. These elements do exist in the movie, and Matthew McConaughey captures it with believable, intense acting. But I was pleased that the elements of loneliness of space were mitigated by incorporating more characters and places to feel more action oriented rather than a vacuum of space movie. I would relate this movie to the movie The Abyss, where it can be frightening, but it has adventure and it has heart.
The only issues are that the movie can get confusing with who is where in each scene, and what is each person doing as the scenes jump around. Also the characters going to space were a little too fearless with almost no preparation together to conduct a crazy tough mission. The director did the same thing in the movie Inception; an improbable, coordinated mission but no on screen preparation. It did not ruin the movie, but took anyway some believability of these characters being real science people. It is a complicated script and story and I give the director, Christopher Nolan, a pass to cut a few corners. The script and the lines of the characters are brilliant as they show various philosophies and emotions that add great depth to this story. It is not perfect but it is impressive.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First, just to get it out of the way, yes, the science is really rather bad. Both the "big" science (things like wormholes and black holes) and the "small" science (things like inertia and other basic physics in space). The rest of the movie isn't bad, but it also isn't that great. The worst part is the audio. The movie suffers from the same problem most current movies have: far too loud music, far too quiet dialogue.
When the big reveal finally happens, the BIG plot twist comes out, the dialogue is so garbled between a dying Michael Caine and a weeping Adult Murph you'll be lucky to understand one word out of 10. And this is the most critical scene in the entire movie? Nolan couldn't manage to get the audio people to make it understandable?
When you're wishing for subtitles just so you can understand what people are saying you know the movie did a crap job on audio.
They also did a terrible job on general exposition. One third of the way through the movie and I'm having to go to Wikipedia to read up on the general plot summary so my wife and I could understand that "Gargantua" (really, "Gargantua"?? Is that really what you want to name the black hole? Is that your final answer, Nolan??) was a black hole and not the wormhole.
The movie probably looked awesome in IMAX. But... big deal.

These are generally true, but the heart of this movie is actually the human destiny to conquer. In a vast universe, the plot follows a team of scientists scrambling to save mankind. The astronauts make their way to the stars through difficulties. In each ordeal, time amplifies the characters' mistakes and successes to unforeseen outcomes. Hans Zimmer's musical score augments Interstellar's sense of helplessness and curiosity to extremes. I watched this movie on my computer screen, but it would be best to watch in a home theater or in IMAX. This is due to the jaw-dropping, unfathomable presentation of cosmic visuals in the movie. Interstellar takes the spot as my second favorite movie of all time. It is without a doubt deeper and more ambitious than Christopher Nolan's Inception. This is not to state I didn't enjoy that movie. Interstellar, like Inception, doesn't fit well to watch on a Friday night. It's more of a Sunday afternoon type movie! Prepare to ponder Interstellar's mind-numbing themes & concepts for several days after finishing it. Expand

At the end of the day, this is a movie. Whether or not the science behind it is realistic or not is irrelevant. As a movie it is meant to entertain. Does it do that? Here and there.

The movie does have a clever premise, but it also feels like the writers dumbed it down a bit too much. Pacing is slug like at times. It takes way to long for the movie to go anywhere, and when it does, it does so in sporadic bursts.

While the story is an interesting one, it is far too predictable. No real surprises. It feels like this was done deliberately to ensure a broader audience could follow the narrative.

Matthew McConaughey does do his very best. In fact I kinda think he overdid it at times. I give him credit, he knows how to cry on queue. Other than him, none of the other cast were memorable.

Overall:
Interstellar is a good idea that just was far too dull the way it was executed. Either do the Hollywood thing, or do the artsy thing. Don't try to do both.

Side Note:
Anyone else wonder why McConaughey's skin looked orange in the movie?

Enjoyably amazing. Interstellar actually tells us that Earth's being terminated and how sad we all must be for the last lives of our green globe we called Earth.

BEST SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE OF 2014!!! When i first saw interstellar i was AMAZED. The fact that they went to another galaxy and found three planets was great. Interstellar is by far, my number one favorite science fiction movie.

Despite its 169 minutes, it didn't seem long at all (if a film is well made, then the longer, the better) and it's resoundingly clear that Christopher is excellent both in getting fine performances from his actors and, along with his brother Jonathan, in writing scripts. What makes the film special for a sci-fi work is that he doesn't have to show any monster--nothing is truly more scary than humanity itself. This is a work that can combine an excellent explanation of the theory of relativity yet still show that the only things that truly matter are the relationships we develop in our everyday lives. My favourite film of all-time is still one of the most ambitious, '2001: A Space Odyssey', but it's very comforting to me that six generations after the birth of cinema, and the Faberge eggs of genius that have come along the way, from Georges Méliès' 'A Trip to the Moon' and Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis', that outstanding works of science fiction, such as 'Gravity', 'Ex Machina' and this fine film by Nolan, are still being made. There's hope for us yet!... Expand

It's tied with The Godfather... Come on now. Kubrick did this same thing almost 50 years prior with visuals that were almost on par.. Not to mention that almost every frame of this movie ripped off 2001: A Space Odyssey. It tries to be edgy and "groundbreaking" with "new ideas," yet everything that happened in this movie had been done before. Not to mention done in a better way.

Now this is better than your standard popcorn flick for sure. The science isn't as accurate as it has been in other movies, but it'll impress some who haven't been through many physics courses. And the cinematography is gorgeous and the acting is pretty great as well. But I will say I can't give it a positive review just because of how much it ripped off one of the greatest movies ever made. But it's worth a watch if you're curious especially just for the aesthetics.

An absolutely magical movie, loved it.

Even though Matt Damon is an unnecessary **** in it, the good outweighs the bad by a factor of a million.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is one of my favourite if not my favourite movie of all time. I've watched it over 20 times now. The soundtrack is just breathtaking. There are amazing scenes, like the cornfield chase scene and the water planet disaster. I do agree that this movie has flaws. Some characters are underdeveloped. Why is Cooper's son in the movie? He's just kinda.. there. The only use he has is to add conflict near the end. It's also odd how Murph holds a grudge on Cooper for so many years. Nobody would be that stubborn. Some of Cooper's crew is just kinda there, like his son. They are never developed. The guy with the beard dies when they reach the water planet and the black guy dies on the ice planet. They are never developed. The movie is more focused on story rather than characters. Even the story is flawed sometimes. For example, we hear about Cooper's wife once and how she died, yet she is never mentioned again. Don't you think she should be a bigger part of Cooper's life? At this point, I'm just nitpicking small things. The movie overall is amazing. Movies are about experiencing awe and wonder, and Interstellar does that well. The messages and themes in Interstellar along with the breathtaking scenes and the soundtrack make it one of my favourite movies of all time. Expand

"Interstellar" was by far the most anticipated movie in my recent existence so it had a lot of great expectations to meet. Fortunately, this film did not disappoint, if anything, it left me wanting more.

Dubious attempt, given the disparity of talents. But what Nolan really quietly "taken over", is a Paul Anderson's story "Kyrie", replacing supernova by black hole, telepathy by gravity, and stuffing it by cheap and highly implausible melodrama. The result is another "Batman" - not a masterpiece movie picture a la Kubrick, with his attention to details and authenticity, but a grotesque movie-SF- comics, caricature Gargantua. However, Nolan's talent was enough to make this inappropriately stretched movie to be quite fascinating for what he could receive 6 out of 10, but taking into account the theft of Paul Anderson's idea, 5 out of 10 will be the most honest assessment. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If somebody asks me what the most underrated movie of the decade is I always say "Interstellar". "Interstellar" is a modern masterpiece that needs to be seen. I never found myself bored or lacking of attention because the movie was so engrossing and immersive. I felt like I actually went to space and went through a huge black hole. Many peoples complaints about the movie are about the ending. I don't find the ending bad at all, actually I thought the ending was imaginative and really brought the emotions out of me. The ending where he finally saw his daughter and she was on her death bed getting to see the one thing she was searching for her whole life was heartbreaking and really touching. Yes it is very unlikely, practically impossible what happened, but when did we start getting so serious when we watch. Why don't we watch movies for a good story and great time anymore? Expand

but what a great movie still. I didn't watch it in IMAX but I really wish I did, the science was truly interesting and for a viewer that tends to predict the movie as it goes on, I was quite pleased how it turned out. and I loved the relationship between Murphy and Cooper. Gets right in the feels

Great movie, really gets you thinking about the future of humanity :3

If you have ever studied quantum physiques or those theories you will just love the movie. If not then you might find the movie a bit too informative and sometimes dull. The theories explanation in the movie are not really understandable but that is a no problem hence their complex nature. Instead these theories are simplified as much as possible. It has an extraordinary and dramatic atmosphere of a planet Earth which is basically on the verge of destruction with all of the extras such as people dieing from starvation, water pollution, wars, crimes etc but the movie instead does not focus on that but on a trip to outer space trying to find a better Earth in the form of another planet in order to save the human race. I like the movie, the atmosphere, the soundtrack and the casting. I do think though that the acting was a bit over dramatic at some points and a bit over emotionless on other moments. Pans and corny dialogues are included as usual with such movies. The conclusion of the movie is completely unexpected and I really enjoyed its ending! You should watch that movie! Expand
