Ugh. Nobody can argue with the historically inadequate representation in movies and TV of women and minorities. Efforts to balance that out expectedly bring the great, the good, the bad, and the just plain forgettable movies and TV shows.Ugh. Sadly for the waaayyyy talented Elsa Pataky, this ain't the script to have picked. Like unsweetened oatmeal, this one is a blandly generic, predictable, rehashed, and uncompelling thriller (Inigo Montoya would definitely take issue with the use of the word 'thriller' to describe this movie). The only better parts of the movie were Elsa's performances where she WASN'T dealing with the cardboard cutout bad guys. Ruby Rose or Megan Fox would have been a more fitting pick for this dull, cliche-filled flick. Here's your shocking spoiler: Psyhco, unapologetically misogynistic men take over a critically important but laughably secured military base. Only one damaged officer, unfairly treated by the army because of her gender, can save the day in spite of the inept cast of supporting male characters. But wait, there's more! Lol, no not really.

I'll watch for Elsa's next release and continue to hope and pray for WAAAAYYYY better scripts for women rather than this type of lazy, counter-productive writing.… Expand

This is one of the worst films I've ever seen in the Netflix catalogue, by far. And even with all the stupidity of its plot it could have sold better with someone competent as the lead.

Elsa Pataky is a lousy actress, I can't stress this enough, but her acting is really deplorable.

I don't know if someone owed her a favour or her husband who also makes a completely useless appearance, but whoever cast her as the lead failed monumentally at their job.

Not only american - one man show - hero-pattern, it is a one woman show which doesn't give any reasons for watching this movie.

But that amount of feminism references is too much, half of it would have been sufficient.
The producers forget why people watch this kind of movies, just dumb action without political activism.
So it's really a bad movie, but it's enough action to watch it once and regret it later.… Expand

It managed to beat my mental countdown by a fraction of a second. My payoff was one good scene at the end, where she swings one-handed from one conveniently placed bar to another.… Expand

Some of the action can be decent, The Hemsworth cameo does not fit the tone of the movie at all but I know why he did it. Unfortunately the leads acting is not close enough to being able to lead a movie. Didn’t have any expectations starting the so called « movie », compared to this Sharknado is a deep emotional independant drama movie. WTF.
