Sci-fi fans would be pleased to see Infini production value. It takes cues from classic such as Alien and even the less stellar Doom, parts of it almost look identically like set pieces from video games. Unfortunately, it also has excruciatingly high dose of redundancy. The plot is simple, yet the script is so muddled it becomes overwhelmingly encumbering. At no less than half the movie, the characters would scream at each other and even monologue to themselves in schizophrenic manner.

Whit Carmichael (Daniel MacPherson) is reluctantly thrown to a distant station after a botched mission wiped out his squad. Another squad of elite troops is sent after him and also to secure a particularly hazardous material from said station. Unknown to them Infini has a secret that might threaten their lives. This heavily resembles the plot of Doom, but thankfully Infini at least produces a more coherent product, although not marginally better.

The greatest obstacle of the movie is its fondness of its own voice. Dialogues are very heavy, while this is initially good to set up the world, it becomes very murky as scientific terms are spewed at high speed. Audiences who have not seen many movies of the genre might find it confusing, and it doesn't get better. Expect many people shouting different things at the same time about halfway through.

Occasionally the characters would twitch and mindlessly yell incoherent stuffs. Granted, the plot plays to their mental state, but the volume of excessive muttering doesn't in any way exhibit intelligent storytelling. With characters overly narrate the scenes or go in trance and serve sermon, it comes as no surprise that Infini has ridiculously slow pace. It's amazing how needlessly long it is than needs be just by spamming random sentences.

Visual is not bad, while it's not fully colorful graphic, the ambiance of sci-fi is clearly present. Details are aplenty, fans might spot some of these inspired by old films like Event Horizon or video game like Dead Space. It's functioning, but might not be that original. Those coming for action involving plasma laser of some sort would be disappointed because there is little to be had here, and far from well-choreographed.

The claustrophobic Infini has a decent foundation and sometimes it has hints of psychological thriller. However, a prolong stay is not advisable as the occupants tend to bicker abundantly and at the end all they say might sound like random noises.

Not bad, not bad. Quite decent acting performance. Totally OK set and effects. Quite low budget, but they made the most of it I'd say. The soundtrack is also suiting and triggers the appropriate emotions, without ever becoming offensive. INot bad, not bad. Quite decent acting performance. Totally OK set and effects. I would actually recommend this over ex machina any day of the week. Well done from the people involved. Expand

One where solid performances and decent action keep you entertained amongst the always compelling space setting. Where the movie stumbles is in it's more complex elements. The world is built up on interesting futuristic technology and the plot centers around an interesting alien life-form. Both of which go under explained.

As a result the movie's more interesting topics feel muddled and confusing. Whatever message it was trying to deliver ends up jumbled amongst all the weirdness and lack of explanation. Certain themes still peek through, but there's a vagueness surrounding the overall greater picture.

The core plot about people struggling to survive in the ever isolating void of deep space amongst some kind of infection is still entertaining. This is mostly due to the cast. Everyone here does a fantastic job, allowing the effects of the outbreak to show in themselves in believable ways. We're also treated to some very exciting scenes of people losing their minds. The dialog is pretty sharp and it's able to achieve a certain emotional resonance. Most of these characters just want to get home to their kids.

The action in the movie is pretty solid. An extended fight near the end does come off as a bit too over-the-top with the way the scenes cut form series of punches to series of punches, but it's all still pretty good. The horror element fall flat thanks to nothing scary ever happening onscreen, but there are hints of psychological horror running in the background.

While it has it's issues, Infini can still provide an entertaining watch for the sci-fi faithful. Particularly those who like to see the genre mixed with a bit of horror. The biggest stumble is just with the writing. There's just some poorly explained stuff holding all of this together. Particularly where the ending is concerned. You can still follow the core plot so it's not too hard to put up with. It also helps that it's well acted and a pretty attractive film.

Good movie but the ending is AWFUL! Be prepared for that major dissapointment. Hmmm... That's all I wanted to say but need some more words to make up the char count.
