This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ghostland or Incident in a Ghostland is a drama/horror movie that depicts the history of a mother with two hilds that inherets the aunt's house. Winner of 3 movie awwards at the Gérardmer Festival in 2018, the movie show the first night in the really creepy house inherited by the mom and the two daughters where muderous intruders attempt against their lifes. Sixten years later when the daughter, now a widely knowned writer stared by Crystal Reed, returns to the house, things start to get really strange.
With influences from H.P. Lovecraft as showed, although appealing at times to jumpscares and flaws on the plot, the movie sets up the tone for a good horror movie going for the psychological aspect of it. It's stilla able to create the feeling of being followed or watched at all times.
Even though the ending doesn't keep up with the start in terms of quality, it still delivers a good ending and good acting. From the current horror movies being release, Incident in a Ghostland is a good movie and from my opinion, a good recommendation for a weekend movie.… Expand

I was expecting more from this film.
In my country, this got 18+ rating, while there wasn't any scene that I rate like that.
Dont watch if you like good horrors.

Wow, this is one the best horror movies that I saw in all my life. The plot is surprising in every way. The cast and everything is almost perfect and if was a huge studio behind this, like Universal, 20th Century Fox or Sony Pictures, itWow, this is one the best horror movies that I saw in all my life. Brilliant cinematography but essentially a cruel jumbled nightmare of a film that is just insanely misogynistic and overtly trans-phobic. A horror, for sure.

Ahora conociendo sus antecedentes se esperabaEl director francés Pascal Laugier creó una gran polémica el 2008 cuando presentó Mártires, una película que sorprendió por las escenas de violencia gráfica y dividió opiniones entre la crítica. Ahora conociendo sus antecedentes se esperaba un slasher que siga ese estilo de su anterior película, mostrando escenas muy gráficas de violencia, pero el director prefirió filmar una película en donde se habla de uno de los temas principales de este subgénero del terror: El papel de la mujer.

Este género fue acusado de misoginia y sexista; en la mayoría de las películas el rol femenino es representado de una manera no políticamente correctas, acá Laugier hace un recuento de esté tema poniendo algunas metáforas que refuerzan el mensaje que se propone. Narra la historia de unas jóvenes que se mudan con su madre a un casa nueva, la primera noche un grupo de asesinos las atacan..Se sale de los parámetros del slasher contando una historia distinta con un giro al final. Una película aterradora, sin valerse de escenas extremadamente violentes, pero que coloca a Laugier como un director con un buen futuro.… Expand
