Mildly entertaining, but ultimately downright stupid and not scary in the least. Another Stephen King story that just doesn't translate well to the big screen.

I had high hopes for this movie but I very disappointed. It was tedious instead of scary. I fast forwarded thru half of it.

Grass is evil.
Black rocks are evil.
Church buildings are evil.
Christian white men are evil.
Stephen King's world view summed up. Hopeless film.

Producers, directors and actors must understand that some Stephen King stories simply should not and cannot be adapted.

In The Tall Grass simply comes to confirm it again, especially considering that it was such a practical and short story, let's put aside the intriguing of its premise. It's just that this story never justifies that it has been turned into a film and that's why it becomes such a dilute and boring experience.

Neflix had done well with Gerald's Game and 1922. Unfortunately their third attempt with a King story was their first strike.

Stephen King's son; Joe Hill also took part on the writing of the story but let's be honest, is his father name what will make people to watch this film.

A good psychological horror movie with an engaging plot. It leaves room for our own interpretations and theory, like most of King's books.

Plagued by a cast of nobody actors delivering dialog that just wasn't able to make the jump from page to screen with any sort of grace, but still entertaining thanks to an intriguing premise that raises a lot of questions you want to know the answers to. Once the mystery is gone so is the magic unfortunately. The more the film reveals, the more it loses its way as plotholes begin to surface and it tries to hammer home its half-baked metaphor with tasteless shock value, which Joe Hill (King's son and the novella's co-author) has dabbled in before. Officially ending Netflix's winning streak with the prolific horror author. Expand

This is horrible the scariest part of all is the money wasted in making this. And for the people who say the idea is original it is not. The movie is based on one called triangle so you might as well watch the that just avoid this.

at first it gave the appearance of being terror of the claustrophobic type; the problems start at minute 50, when everything gets out of hand and confusing. A missed opportunity? I'm afraid so.

In this case, long grass can be pretty freaky. There have been instances where people or children have gotten lost and died of dehydration in corn fields. The same principle applies here. A brother and sister end up lost in a field of tall grass and even before things start getting weird the film does a great job of showing the usual unpleasantness of being stuck out in the heat and the mud.

The freaky stuff equally helps make this film. I don't know if I'd call this the scariest film ever, but it does a good job of being uneasy or uncomfortable. A fair part of this is the scares being subtle but when the nasty stuff happens: it is definitely memorable. There is one thing in particular you won't see coming.

This is one of those horror films that plays a little too fast and loose with the rules of how things work for some viewers tastes.

Director VIncenzo Natali (who directed Splice) has a good eye for visuals here. There are so many shots and computer and set designs that stand out. However, the computer graphics can be a bit obvious at points.

Mostly decent cast, but the standout is Patrick Wilson. I won't go into detail, but he really gets the chance to play more of a character role than he usually gets. I did have issues with Will Buie Jr., the movie's only child actor. The issue isn't that he's a bad actor. He's given dialogue that just sounds too adult. Buie does a such competent job of delivering his lines he doesn't sound like a regular kid either.

Once again, Netflix has produced another good Stephen King adaption. I recommend this.

It isn’t the best adaptation of a King story, nowhere near it, but it has moments of creepiness and genuine scares. The concept is genius, it has so many good and disturbing ideas that it elevates the entire film. The main flaw of the film is that it feels somewhat stretched, like a lot of King short story adaptations. The acting, other than that of Patrick Wilson is also subpar. But, I would still recommend it for any Stephen King fans, or anyone who’s looking for a good scare while being able to overlook some pacing issues. Expand

There were too many layers added on to the original plot of the people being stuck in the grass, and it became confusing, and outright ridiculous and confusing. The plot line of the time loop, for example, made no sense and was very poorly, if at all, explained as the movie went on. Who are the random grass people that we see twice in the movie and are never explained? What does the rock do? This movie is beyond vague for ominous purposes: it is badly thought out, and perhaps the storyline was poorly written. This movie may have been good as a 12 minute short film, and no longer. The viewer gets tired of seeing grass shot in only so many different ways, for nearly two straight hours. In addition, the gore feels out-of-place and over-the-top. I highly recommend staying away from this one; I feel like I just wasted two hours of my life on a poorly executed, drawn-out, badly-acted, low-budget piece of trash. Expand
