This is an entertaining movie with breathtaking cinematography... if anything, that brings this movie to be worth viewing. I haven't seen many films that have such evocative cinematography.

In The Cut is a dark and penetrating film, certainly more erotic than thrilling, but Meg Ryan was a poor casting choice.
She's unable to sell the character. Her performance doesn't feel natural, but forced. The film is not mediocre, but shallow. A lot of the themes it handles are quite good, but Jane Campion fails to explore them properly.
They are scattered points in the narrative without a more practical coherence.

To see her best thrillers, which I think she did with what she learned in this film, better watch the two seasons of Top of The Lake.

In The Cut is one of those movie that there is a very good thing in it, then slowly getting really bad and it just make me don't care anymore.
