This is like Woody Allen on mushrooms.
Typical talkie movie trying to emulate works like said Allen and some David Lynch. No sense..
Kaufman has a twisted mind..

I LOVE horror, and crazy/weird films but this movie was bogus... the director has his head up his ass being artsy. I literally leaned next to my husband and told him what the ending would be and if i was right I would be pissed... I was bloody close enough... not to mention the ending is an interpritive dance? THATS NOT A SPOILER as it has nothing to do with the story... and maybe thats the problem.... I loved everything about this movie until about halfway through and then it just went downhill... WHY IS EVERYONE LIKING THIS? THERE ARE SO MANY BETTER MOVIES?

im sorry... ive been waiting for this movie for a while and im very dissapointed.

If it was anything else, the film is a fail. And, if the answer to the intention of the movie isn’t sufficiently made clear for the majority of its audience, then has it really achieved much? The writer‘s/director’s schtick of painstakingly exploring the inner working of the mind - with a cleverer-than-thou pretentiousness - is what we’ve come to expect, and has, I’m afraid, grown tiresome. At the least, it’s not compelling enough to slog through for a painful 134 minutes. Expand

“i’m thinking of ending things” is just too confusing. You can’t really interpret it because so much of it doesn’t make sense. I had to power through this move because it was so boring and confusing in my opinion.

As far as I’m concerned, this latest Netflix entry has taken him over the edge. It starts as Jesse Plemons takes his girlfriend (Jessie Buckley) home in a snow storm to meet his parents (Toni Collette and David Thewlis). After a long sequence in the car they arrive at the farm, where the Twilight Zone takes over. Things go from weird to confusing as this muse on memories and fantasy culminates in a dance sequence and a Nobel Prize. There are hidden messages and symbolic signs littered throughout in an attempt to make this make sense. As a straight-up cinematic experience it’s sometimes interesting, but more often frustrating, tedious, and self-indulgent (yes, that all lower-case title is one example).
There have already been numerous articles trying to decode the meaning of this mental adventure, so check them out if you want extra help with the confusion.

The first problem is that it takes way too long, it becomes boring and frustrating. Then, when they arrive at their destination, the film takes a more scary turn and there, we say to ourselves that we are going to have a good time but ... NO, we understand very quickly and without leaving the place to doubt what is happening. We hope for more depth, explanations, a twist but NO, NOTHING! At the end of this movie, I told myself that it was not possible, that something must have escaped me but again NO, this film is just a long torture which tries to give itself a style by leaving in the blabla pseudo intellectual but without providing an interesting background. One of the worst movies I have seen recently. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While artistic and relatively entertaining throughout the buildup, there is no end. This can hardly be called a movie. I understand this film is supposed to be more of an artpiece, however i only found that out while an hour and a half invested im this dumpster fire when everyone dances and some animated pig comes and ends the film. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the worst movie i’ve seen in my entire life. this is the visual equivalent of people who don’t understand poetry, but say the poem was good even though they don’t get it. Art isn’t supposed to be this pretentious. Nothing about this movie is horror other than the scenes at the parents’ house, but only because it was creepy. Not because it was actually horrifying. The people saying they “understand” this movie are lying to you and themselves. If you liked this movie, it was only because you like terrible car rides with people you don’t really care about. The fact that they stopped for ice cream in a snow storm and then let it melt pissed me off more than the fact that these people didn’t actually exist. Shut up about this movie and stop making movies that require a philosophy degree with an arts minor to even remotely enjoy. Expand

This movie was stupid and boring. Me and my family worked out what the film was about in less than half an hour. The rest of the film was a chore to watch, and a totally unrewarding experience. 0/10 I would have rather watched paint dry.

I'll give the film creditI'm Thinking of Ending Things is a thoroughly unenjoyable, pretentious, and downright infuriating movie if you do not know what the film is attempting to say or go in expecting anything containing a true narrative. I'll give the film credit for its great cinematography and editing style, as well as its neat (albeit hamfisted at points) ideas regarding perception of the world through different eyes and timeframes in one's life. However, writer/director Charlie Kaufman works best when he combines fantastic ideas with an entertaining and/or intriguing narrative, as shown in Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine. The narrative of this film is completely absurdist yet also horrendously tedious to drag through, the dialogue is extremely inauthentic and as chi-chi as any that I've heard in any film lately, and the film is almost completely humorless and morbid at every step of the way. I can give Kaufman some attempt of praise for pushing the creative boundaries and new ideas of film, however, he continues to sacrifice narrative, character, and sheer entertainment value, which creates grueling and punishing movie experiences I do not wish to experience again, nor reccomend to others. Unmitigated, pretentious trash. If you are on many drugs, alcohol and a lack of sleep perhaps shreds of this artistic malignance will appeal to you. If not dont waste your time. Literally 75% of this 2+ hour film is two people talking in a car while it snows. The least visually interesting thing to occur in the entire history of cinema possibly. IT'S THAT DRAB. Kaufman is a writer, he wants you to focus on the words. He should never direct ever again. I feel sorry for whoever he convinced to finance this because they surely didnt see a penny in return. There are moments that will literally bring chills to your body and its not even a horror film. The atmosphere is very intense in some scenes and there is great cinematography, but it ends there. The movie gives you a sense of foreshadowing, but fails to follow up. The ENTIRE movie feels like it’s building towards something only to end abruptly. Also this movie is INCREDIBLY pretentious. The main characters have these long boring drawn out conversations that are meant to be “intellectual” or “poetic” but just serves as an obstacle you have to endure so that you can get to the ending. This is why the ending is so bad, because you go through all that pretentious gab only to be disappointed. There are masterful moments that feel like a great ally oop pass to set up somethint better later on but instead it drags on and on.

If your someone who is looking for a suspenseful, compelling thriller movie, you can do much better than this.

Total garbage.
Can't really fathom what the makers of these movies were thinking of.
They certainly seem have a sorely misplaced intellectual superiority complex.
This movie really is total excrement.
2 hours of your life that you'll never get back.
