She (Cho) can tell a joke, mimic, offer commentary, play cute, play ugly and be so hilariously absurd that tears will run down your cheeks.
We're in a golden age of comedy, and one of the reasons is Margaret Cho.
Cho is raw, uncensored, and side-splittingly hilarious.
But there's a discomfiting side to her comic riffs, because in our all-too-concerned-with-image society, they ring far too true.
(Director Lionel Coleman) wisely opts for a straightforward approach with long takes that capture Cho's kinetic rhythm and rely on her talent and honed timing to carry the evening.
It's hard to connect with long minutes of self-pity by a temporarily has-been celebrity.
If only the film had been a more visually satisfying experience.
