In short the sequel is not as good as the original which is quite common. They try to recreate the first movie and be a bit different but it is not as humorous, creative or entertaining as the original. The prequel “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” is an amazing movie I have fond memories of. I was happy they made a sequel as back then I was not aware (as kid) that most sequels suck. Before it sounds too negative it is no catastrophe like Highlander 2 but also no Terminator 2 or Godfather 2. The title is again a huge spoiler. It is set a few years after the prequel and stars again the Szalinski family. The father Wayne has got support for his shrinking machine and developed the idea further with the help of Sterling Labs. When his wife Diane is away with their daughter Amy he has to care himself about their toddler Adam. But because his shrinking machine had previously a serious error he moves to the laboratory to make a short test taking Adam with him. I stop here but with the title you already know what will happen. The story is decent and not that bad. However it is not as fresh, creative and enjoyable as the original movie. So I would say it is a typical weaker sequel and it hurts to say this as fan of the original. The returning cast saves this a bit. Rick Moranis, Marcia Strassmann, Robert Oliveri and Amy O’Neil reprise their roles as the Szalinski family and again deliver a great performance. New are Lloyd Bridges as Wayne, John Shea as his malicious co-worker Charles and Keri Russel as Mandy the babysitter. We have a really good cast in this movie and while they improve the rating for me they cant save it completely. The humour is also weaker and while nowhere anywhere near a true catastrophe it is nowhere near the original (I know I repeat this but it is a quintessential statement for this movie). The special effects were mostly good back then but are a bit weaker towards the end. I would still praise them for that time period. Overall I repeat for the last time that it is not as good as the original and enters the long list of weaker sequels that are not garbage. Not a waste of time but also nothing to remember. I will admit it has some moments to be fair but a 6/10 seems fair for me.… Expand

Not as good as its predecessor, "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids", but still salvaged thanks to the return of some cast members such as Rick Moranis. It's something to watch with your little ones if there's nothing better on.
