The first pieces of text after the opening logos state how the film is meant to be "an experience" and the band's announced purpose is to help people connect with God. Yay!
What follows is a movie that's hell-bent on advertising the band's songs and doing very little with the band itself. This has two effects: it creates bland characters and a bland story and plot. The result: boredom!!
This was an overly boring movie with absolutely nothing to say and almost nothing happens. Sure, the band pours their heart and soul into making these songs enjoyable and their effort really pays off, but this movie doesn't even have that level of dignity.
With all that said the songs have better value than the movie, and the movie deserves a seal of disavowal.

May not be the best Christian film I've ever seen, but at least it sorta tries to become its thing. Hillsong - Let Hope Rise isn't what you guys think it would normally end up.

Hillsong — Let Hope Rise stands out against that harsh tone of much recent Christian indie cinema by being a winning, friendly, and at times moving film.

Hillsong - Let Hope Rise feels like a long behind-the-scenes extra that comes with your deluxe Hillsong CD. It manages to give you an idea about the Australian band but that's about it.
