This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In the beginning this movie gave me hope. I'm a huge fan of the original Highlander film. Call me a zealot if you will, but they haven't gotten a sequel right yet. This one uses hope to hang you out to dry. There is some fan service in the beginning that makes you believe they've finally gotten a sequel right, but then they rewrite the whole story so that Connor doesn't win the prize. I did find the incorporation of concepts from the show to be a bonus.
From the beginning sequels should have gone back and explored events in Connor's and the other immortals lives, not stepped all over and rewritten the concepts that made the first movie so great.

Was it the best movie ever made? No, but if you were a fan of the series, this was a nice wrap up. Adrian Paul was the only thing that saved this movie, had it been another movie with only Chris Lambert, I would suggest you run.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While there are things about this movie that i like the bad definetly outweighs the good here. The plot takes for ever to get going, the romance is forced in, allot of the characters seem pointless and the appearences of Joe and Methos were so brief it felt like they should have been uncredited cameos and the acting on (almost) all fronts was bad. However the fight scenes were very well done, the death of Connor was treated very well and no matter what people think think about Bruce Payne he made a damn good villain (not as good as Clancy Brown as the Kurgan but still...) So yeah it was bad but there were still some good things about it. Expand

I am divided by this movie. I enjoy the set up, characters and story. On the other hand it destroys much of the lore, is not that original and has some plot holes or out of character moments. On the other hand it destroys much of the lore, is not that original and has some plot holes or out of character moments. It is best described as the movie to the TV series with the addition of Christopher Lambert. It has also connections to the first movie and many flashbacks that have implications for both Mac Leods. It is hard to describe the problems without spoilers but I will try my best. The lore breaking moments can upset fans and the resolve is best seen as a red-con. They fixed it with the Produces cut after fan complaint and made a happier ending. A bit of the movies problems are related to development hell. If you don't know this term is used when a movie is heavily edited or changed a lot before, during and / or after production (All three can apply). Warning signs include: Changing directors, delays, actors / directors who are tight-lipped and words like divisive /not for everyone / woke etc.
If I checked it correctly there were multiple changes for the setting story and it should be for some time be a connection to The Raven spin-off series. The story itself is a good vehicle but not that original. The characters and their development / motives are believable for most times. For me as fan there are some inconsistencies or out of character moments. The setting and costumes are good. I noticed that I hesitate for my final verdict and just keep writing. Overall as fan I enjoyed the movie and with the lore destroying thing removed in the cut I can approve a good rating to the movie. Without I would lower my rating by 1-2 points. However I say this is for fans and others will probably rate this lower and I can see why.

Oh god! A fourth Highlander movie! I really don’t like this movie but I got to admit. It is better than all of the sequels. I actually thought some of the action scenes were very well choreographed. I actually thought some of the action scenes were very well choreographed. I also enjoyed the villain in this movie. He actually felt like a threat to Duncan and Conner. The reason why I rated this movie at 2 is because of the awful acting and writing that doesn’t make any sense. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just watched this movie for the first time in years and I must say, it was terrible. The idea, the story, I think it's awesome, but the writing for this was god awful. The dialogue was cringe worthy. Kell was an over the top villain with the cheesiest lines since 1989. For Kell to have had such a history, why wasn't he ever mentioned before? Duncan's never heard of wife, smh. The first time Duncan sees Connor after the whole sanctuary thing, you'd think that scene would've had more depth Expand
