Yet another "based on true events" (i.e. pretty much totally false) racial pandering Oscar bait flick. They are pretty much cranked out 2-3 per year by formula these days.

FYI: my uncle used to do ballistic calculations similar to those done by Katherine Johnson for a major defense firm. He said it was the most boring, mind-numbing job he'd ever had, "basically like being a mathematics janitor". You're mostly just checking and double-checking math results that an early (hence somewhat unreliable) computer spit out.

Frankly movies like this do blacks a grave disservice, just like that one about the African "math genius" who in reality is a mediocre club-level player who peaked at age 19 and only won awards through affirmative action. Revisionist history might sell, but it won't actually enlighten people who are interested about the true history of race in America.… Expand

Boring. Spancer is very BAD. The actress never appears to fully connect with the character, delivering a series of doleful little-girl-lost poses — and, later, pantomimed iron-jawed determination.
