One of the best horror sequels of all time without a doubt. It still remains visually impressive, It provides a lot more background to the cenobites and more than tops the gore from the first film.

A masterpiece of the horror genre. Another classic for anyone who can appreciate the idea of horror.

Hellbound: Hellraiser II is my favorite Hellraiser movie.
It's terrifying, fascinating, the story is amazing, and the characters are great actors!

Satisfying Enough
Though not as good as the first one, Hellraiser II still has fun scares, cool kills, and of course Pinhead.

By 25 minutes it was low fours. By 35 minutes it was low fives. And by the end I can say a thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some bad qualities. It isn’t as creatively shot as its predecessor, and where Hellraiser is very well plotted, Hellbound seems more like a showcase of special effects, not that that’s a necessarily bad thing. William Hope as Kyle is absolutely atrocious, but there are some good performances. I especially got a kick out of the returning characters, Clare Higgins as Julia is really able to spread her wings in this instalment, as whole I really liked Julia’s arc in this one. Ashley Laurence reprises her role as Kirsty and she does well. The special effects are brilliant as always, nothing as mind blowing as some of the effects in the first one, but still very well done. And the most important component, the Clive Barker script. In the first half hour I was really worried the film was going to fall into repitition of the first one, but Clive Barker manages to bring new lore elements and expands the world of the franchise in a way you rarely see horror sequels do. Doug Bradley also returns as Pinhead, and he is awesome. Expand

I think that this is a very worthy sequel to a horror classic. It doesn't have the originality of the original but it has the endless horror that packs a more powerful punch than the first. It doesn't have the originality of the original but it has the endless horror that packs a more powerful punch than the first. The dark depths of hell are shown to a full horrific extent in this nightmare of a brilliant horror movie. I think that the first two films and probably the 2022 film are (so far out of the ones I've seen) the only ones worth watching in this stupidly long series. And worth watching to such an extent that they are brilliant. Most definitely worth a watch if you liked the first but if you didn't then not much point watching any more! Potentially better than the first because it is more unrelenting but less subtle. Bigger, badder yet still a hellish ride that removes some subtlety but adds the doctor. Expand
