A rather bizarre movie. Kind of like a hybrid of Vampire's Kiss and Taken. A rather interesting and unique approach to a very over used idea.

If it wasn't for the supernatural element this would have been a very bland and dull movie. Some interesting humor at times, yet it is to infrequent and overshadowed by the darker tone to really leave an impression. I guess the humor was added to ensure the movie's audience didn't fall into depression.

Overall:
He Never Died is a good idea that is perhaps too depressing for it's own good. While the immortality curse angle has been done to death (sorry, couldn't resist) this telling is refreshingly different. But different or not, it's still dull and relies on out of place shock moments or unexpected humor to keep us from falling asleep. Otherwise, an okay movie if your looking for something a bit different.

Sternly charming and devilishly funny in his perpetual longevity.

Mythical entity or immortal is usually portrayed as suave gentleman with silver tongue in cinema, however it's utterly surprising that Terminator-esque robotic personality with tendency to be overly literal in his speech proves to be equally appealing. The whole set-up works due to the main lead Henry Rollins, who is truly an unorthodox cast as his works primarily consists of voice acting and hosting documentary in History Channel, yet he's displaying a knack for comedy and action almost effortlessly.

This is a sort of mix between the vengeance theme movies like John Wick or Equalizer from last year with incredibly odd lead character in Jack (Henry Rollins). He is straightforward and awkward in mannerism, nearly devoid of any formality yet still remains serendipitously humorous. Rollins can even be frightening if needs be, a complete package for comedy thriller.

It's an example of the actors fits the character so well that it can be amusing even when doing mundane things like playing bingo. The two supporting cast Jordan Todosey as Andrea and Kate Greenhouse as Cara are good addition. They make some of the more hilarious scenes simply because the contrasting nature against Jack's rigidity, especially Cara who tiptoes between silly love interest, reluctant accomplish and mild comedy relief.

There is a good balance of violence action for every humor thrown at the gritty tone. The blood and gore come out of nowhere, which just add to the shocking effect from normal setting of small city's diner and apartments. By utilizing the gap between humor and violence, it creates an indifference mood that might be overblown elsewhere, but with the deliberate presentation of the nihilist main character, the movie remains entertaining on both aspects.

This is an immortality angle done right, with intense excessive brutality, fun jab at humor and an impeccable actor as the near superhero and terribly jaded lead.

Jack, played brilliantly by Henry Rollins, is reclusive, irritable, and very droll as he tries to stay away from humans, even though they are attracted to him (especially women) because he seems like a very nice, if very sad and introverted, guy. Jack is a “realistic” vampire who is not at all like the aggressive vampires as played by Bela Lugosi, but rather a kind of tragic hero, condemned to his fate of immortality and his need to feed on human blood. He is exasperated, trapped, and weary, trying to do the best he can in a "difficult" situation. Henry Rollins is excellent, as is the direction and script. I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Expand

Caught me off guard, and gave me a good laugh. The characters have been done before, so this isnt exactly original but the dialog made it fun to watch. There is some gore in the movie so if you dont like blood stay away, but the movie isntCaught me off guard, and gave me a good laugh. The characters have been done before, so this isnt exactly original but the dialog made it fun to watch. There is some gore in the movie so if you dont like blood stay away, but the movie isnt horror so it really does not detract from anything. The main character is basically immortal and we get to follow him around as he deals with things from an immortals perspective. His personality is dry and literal and they use that to lighten the mood in an otherwise violent and absurd plot. Again, all this has been done before so no points for originality, but it was done well enough to entertain the audience. Expand

Gloriously gory fun.

This dark comedy is just weird. Half of it is a run-of-the-mill crime story with kidnapping, shooting, stabbing, et cetera. The other half is the story of a century-spanning supernatural cannibal who really just wants to take a nap but can't due to the aforementioned kidnapping, shooting, stabbing, et cetera. There are a number of laughs and a lot of blood along with a wonderfully deadpan performance by Henry Rollins.

Play the mortal game and you'll enter, "He Never Died", where a man is immune to any death happening. To this movie, it's immortal and the audience are the mortals.

A refreshing take on old horror movie tropes, "He Never Died" never stops entertaining.
With a very eccentric main character and interesting and dynamic side characters, it delivers a good balance between gore/comedy.

Whereas I was expecting something pretty bad. The results delivered surprised me.

Hardly a film worth mentioning but it wasn't so bad. Just very average.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a thriller that contains comedy elements from time to time in the production of 2016. I liked the movie because it taught me something new. Watching with interest as it progresses. But that last one seems to fade.

There is a man who lives alone. The only bad thing about man is that he needs to eat people. This is eliminated by purchasing parts from the medical school. This man has a daughter whom he does not know. He also gets into trouble with a gang. As the story progresses, it turns out that the man is one of the cursed sons of Adam, the first man on earth.

It's a fun movie. There are occasional sexual conversations. But there are no explicit scenes.
