Harry's 5th year on the big screen has been the greatest of all so far if you ask me. As a matter of fact, I can't think of a better movie adaptation that the one that David Yates just did with the Order of the Phoenix. He just Harry's 5th year on the big screen has been the greatest of all so far if you ask me. As a matter of fact, I can't think of a better movie adaptation that the one that David Yates just did with the Order of the Phoenix. He just made a 2h18 movie -the shortest Harry Potter movie so far- from the thickest Harry Potter novel. Yates condensated the essential elements of the novel, and filled the movie with a lot of non-spoken and subtle details not only taken from the book, but also setting up the table for what's about to come... Every single actor has been wonderful (except Daniel Radcliffe... sorry, but he really sucks). Especially Umbridge and Luna Lovegood; even if they didn't fit the mental image I had of them both, they were brilliant. and I'm glad that Dumbledore finally took his Ritalin... Those who red the book will probably agree that, among the 5 movies that came out, we just saw the best one. Expand

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Imelda Staunton, Michael Gambon, Evanna Lynch, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Matthew Lewis, Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Mark Williams, Julie Walters, and Jason Isaacs all gave stupendous performances. The visual effects were spectacular especially the thestrals, when the students were learning the Patronus spell, Hagrid's half brother Grawp, and the centaurs. Snivellus Snape gets what he deserves!

Oh you can shake Snape up! Oh you anyone can shake Snape up! Like boob fat, shake shake Snape, shake shake Snape, shake shake! Oh I love this film so much!

Bellatrix is such a lovely lady and she always cheers me up and turns my usual frown upside down every time I see her lovely nurturing motherly nature on display in this terrific top notch film. Bellatrix is the most sexiest and kindest woman alive in my humble opinion and I wish she was my Mother, tells me I'm a naughty boy and looks after me every day so that's a great testament to how much I adore this film. I know nothing bad will happen to me when I'm watching this film because I know Bellatrix Motherly instincts will protect me from any harm that comes to me, oh I love her so much, I wish I could hug her all the time to show her how much I love her.

James Potter was a great man, my 2nd favourite fictional character of all time and he showed that sobbing little man baby known as Snivellus Snape who's boss and I always cheer and clap every time I see that lovely Snape memory scene in this film as Snape gets some payback for having fashion sense that gives people nightmares, an annoying tendency to read and study things all the time and forever being an evil know it all. James and his friends are really complex memorable characters full of enlightening personality traits and they are great role models for British boys and this film always makes me appreciate that I have friends like James Potter did that I can have great fun with. This film is guaranteed to make you smile if you're a British boy crying out for some motherly affection

ThisHold your breath and prepare to be entranced, as "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the fifth entry in the Harry Potter series takes us on an exhilarating ride through a world that has grown darker and more enthralling. This installment stands as a testament to the series' evolution, showcasing not only the maturation of its characters but also the depth and complexity that define its narrative.

The cast's performances continue to astound, revealing layers of emotion and growth that reflect the journey of adolescence and the weight of responsibility. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint shine anew, their portrayals of Harry, Hermione, and Ron now layered with a deeper understanding of the trials they face. As the characters confront challenges that are both personal and world-shattering, their performances resonate with authenticity and relatability.

The visual effects continue to amaze, bringing the magical world to life with a sense of realism that enhances the immersion. The wizarding battles and spells cast are not just visual spectacles but integral components of the narrative's intensity and emotion.

Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix was mind blowing in my eyes. David Yates really captured the spirit of Harry Potter and the way J.K has written it. David Yates really captured the spirit of Harry Potter and the way J.K has written it. The only down fall is Daniel Radcliffe as I do not think his standard of acting is at the same level as Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, as they both so real flair in there rolls in the film. As well I think the film should be a little longer as its virtually 10 - 20 minutes shorter than the rest and it seemed that the film had ended in no time at all. Another draw back was seeing that it was the longest book out of the 7 why wasn't it the longest film out of the 5 made so far, clearing showing not enough information was put in as a lot of unexplained answers will not been given to use, such as in the 5 book the lockets is in headquarters even though they didn't no of its importance. Even though I've given a lot of bad points i still think David Yates has done well and acting has improved over the cause of time from all characters and is only going to improve as the series continues. Of course, there was definitely room for improvement, for example the lack of a better fight scene at the end, and Dumbledore being completely different to the book. I wish Richard Harris (Dumbledore in the first two movies) was still with us, he did a much better job. Apart from the few negatives though, I think Yates did a really good job of balancing pure film-making creative license, i.e. choosing which parts of the book to exclude, and staying true to the book. It couldn't have been any longer or it would have started to bore people, and I think each of the important bits of the book were touched upon FLUENTLY. Compared to other movies where scenes tend to jump around alot, this movie was very fluid. Not a 10 for the reasons stated, but definitly a solid 9. Expand

The previous four have been mostly disappointing. The first two were a product of a director who had no idea how to direct children and relied on cheap thrills to cover horrible dialogue and flow (to which I blame those who adapted the book to film, not the source material). The second was more of the same, with even worse acting from the youngsters (I blame the director again). The third was the best of the four, despite what many will say. Cuaron made Harry Potter in to a respectable movie franchise. His art house style of directing turned off many of the mainstream crowd, but he was able to save a plot that involved nothing more than Harry saving his uncle. The fourth lacked skilled direction, though was exciting enough to be the most enjoyable. I had not expected the fifth to be the most well done and most exciting. The book was easilly the worst of the series, being just an 800 page set up for the next book. But the movie, under a no name director, makes the characters very real and the storyline very relevant. It doesn't take longer than 5 minutes of this film to understand that this fictional England full of fear, disillusion, and paranoia is our world. In terror, we, like the wizard world, give up reason and our trust to authorities, and horrible things can happen. And while the book lacked any real story, the movie moves at such a pase that you never notice, but you get in to the characters. The climax can not be understated. It was amazing. With the showdown at the end, wizard duels have become what they should have been from the beginning. They have done for wizards what light sabers have done for jedi. Despite what those who wish for Harry to live in a wonderful world of magic and tame adventures might tell you, I'm ecstatic to hear that David Yates will be directing the next movie, and possibly the last. He has come the closest to making Harry Potter the movie series it begs to be. Expand

What made this one so good was the emotional range of the acting as well as the script which allowed such acting to take place. I thought for a while that this movie might actually make it to perfection with its perfect special effects and its depth of characters. There were however a few small flaws. One was they totally glossed over how Potter and gang out into the Ministry of mysteries department. Two was his new love was never reconciled with nor included in his support at the climax of the movie. Lastly after all battles were fought won and cried over the emotional verve just seemed to wane away. Now I don't want you to get the impression this was not a outstanding movie cause it was. It's just that it was not perfect. Oh well, it will give them something to strive for in the next movie. I have high hopes after seeing the characters really blossom in there roles. Voldeemort remains one of the greatest movie villains of all time, and the young ensemble cast prove that they are maturing into fine young actors. Well written, great acting, amazing production, and a moving emotional plot that fans will be pleased with. It wasn't perfect, but it's the closest movie in the entire franchise up to this point that was close to perfection. As for every Harry Potter movie, every character has a unique role and every actor plays their part well. The film like all the others, has a natural tendency to not be perfect. David Yates has put the franchise where it needs to be, and where fans want it. He has adapted the 5th book in the best way possible and with the technology that stands as of 2007, the effects are impressive. This movie stands out more than any other film up to this point, and I hope the fans feel the same thing. Expand

We could be safe in assuming that after the events of the fourth instalment, the wizarding world would be in turmoil after the return of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). But it’s in fact quite the opposite, the Ministry of Magic, the governing body of the magical world, deny the Dark Lords return, and have therefore branded Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) liars.
But from the opening scenes of the film, it’s clear the Ministry are very wrong indeed, Dementors are roaming the Muggle world, and Harry has been called for a jury within the Ministry, the same one smearing his name, for using magic to defend himself against the horrific creatures.
Other than that, Harry has quite the ordinary build up to Hogwarts that has been missing in previous years, until he meets Ministry-influenced Professor Dolores Umbridge, played with a love/hate aura of elegance by Imelda Staunton, who not only causes problems for Harry, but for the rest of Hogwarts as well.
But this is very much a journey for Harry, who is the real centre of everything going on, he’s having bad dreams but is also being recognised for all his near misses across the years, to the point where he asked by an abundance of students to help them defend themselves.
The title comes from the organisation who attempt to fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters, consisting of the likes of Dumbledore, Snape (Alan Rickman) and Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), forming the Order of the Phoenix.
As a more singular film, this is a welcome adjustment to the tone of the franchise, and with spectacular effects, especially a battle between two powerful wizards, this is one of them most visually pleasing entries to date. The children or teens really have their moment to shine in the fifth instalment, taking matters into their own hands not only to protect themselves, but to protect Harry as well.
Love continues to be in the air, Harry and his friends truly are growing, and being around the same age as the actors I can’t help but look back at the fact that I’ve grown up with them.
In terms of the book to film discussion, more and more sacrifices have obviously been made to cut the book down dramatically to adapt it for the screen, but Yates and Goldenberg have did the almost impossible.
Many questions have yet to be answered but we are left with the tragic knowledge that things can only get worse for the Boy Who Lived.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was easily the best movie of the set to this point. They changed a lot from the book but almost all of them worked well in the scope of the film. The acting was the best it's been yet, the plot developed really well, and the darker cinematic vibe was perfect for how Harry was feeling throughout the book. Honestly, there was really only one negative and it's something they changed from the book so if you haven't read it you might not mind at all. As I said before, "almost all" of the changes worked well. This particular change, however, did not. In my opinion, the most intensely emotional and dramatic sequence in all of the first five books happens in Dumbledore's office after they all returned from the Ministry of Magic. In that moment, the emotions of what took place at the ministry almost literally pour out of the pages. The director felt, I suppose, that this gut wrenching portion of the book was sufficiently covered in a mere 30 seconds of filming where Harry and Dumbledore barely scratch the surface of what occurred in the actual book. I think this scene should've met the book completely. Only then could they have done it justice. Without that flaw, however, the movie would've been darn near perfect. I hope the movies continue to get better and better. Expand

Given it is based on the worst book of the lot, it works surprisingly well. Admittedly, it would not have mattered much if it had never been made, because the overall plot does not advance all that far. Basically Harry worries about Voldemort for a while, irritates everyone, and then has another interminable face-off with the bad flunkies. But as far as these things go, not bad. I have to admit I did get the feeling there were too many British character actors (wonderful as they are) racing around doing nothing terribly significant. Imelda Staunton deserves special credit for bringing the delightfully awful Dolores to life. The principals were good, the sets were good, the script was ...OK. Bring on the next one. Expand

During all the movie you want to help Harry and his friends against the Ministry, and that's a good thing...that means the story holds up emotionally. The special effects, the music are there for the story. Not the other way around. However, I am unsure if young kids would appreciate this movie because it has a underlining political scheme to it. It might not be entirely understandable to them...A very good movie with a more mature tone to it. Expand
