Order of the Phoenix is one I go back to because it captured a nuance, an energy in the lives of these characters with a maturity, essence and resonance that the previous movies only had in pinches. We all know this was the best Harry Potter movie. I think the best part of this movie is that it was actually the Harry Potter movie J.K. Rowling had the least involvement in. J.K. This story is dark stuff really. I did find it interesting and thought well this series is not really for the little kids anymore. Harry Porter grew up for a more mature audience I suppose?

My most obvious flaw was that at the beginning, the actors looked as though they had been computerised, and I personally found that very distracting, with the scene with the dementors, it just seems strangely executed. Another flaw is that I am still not a huge fan of Michael Gambon's Dumbledore. He isn't a bad actor, but he doesn't quite fit the bill of Dumbledore, and there were some scenes with him that seemed rather strange. However, putting the flaws aside, we do have a lovely-looking film, with very good special effects, and excellent cinematography. As for the acting, I was impressed. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are still likable, as is Robbie Coltrane. Alan Rickman is very suave and dour as Snape, but the acting honours do go to Imelda Staunton as Umbridge. I have read the book, and do prefer it, as there was a lot missed out in the film. My favourite scene was the Department of Mysteries scene, because some of that was creepy, with Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix. No one could have done that better. All in all, a lovely looking film, with some flaws in the first half. 8/10 Bethany Cox.… Expand

A step back after the previous 2 instalments.
It has it's moments and the fans will love it, but it doesn't captivate and lacks the imagination of Cuaron & Newell's efforts.

SÍ, ha vuelto la magia, por fin, después de que se perdiera un poco la esencia, quizás ya en la primera de todas, luego la trama se vuelve lo que ya habíamos mencionado, menos mágica pero más detectivesca y drama adolescente, pero en esta película hay auténticas escenas que son una maravilla, y muy mucha magia, por fin.
También dota de grandes rasgos de epicidad, se nota a dónde está siendo dirigida la propia saga, a algo grande, y es esa importancia narrativa lo que aporta esos rasgos épicos tan necesarios, por otro lado, la misma narración, en muchas ocasiones, se vuelve bastante torpe, cosas innecesarias, escenas sin sentido simplemente por querer introducir con calzador escenas de adolescentes, QUEREMOS MAGIA.
Sí que es verdad que es una película más madura, pero los toques cómicos y esas escenas metidas con calzador hacen que la propia acción se sienta cortada, por lo que nos da a entender que aún hay un poco de adolescencia en la esencia, queda pulir eso, para que el final de la saga sea lo que esperamos.
Al final, es una película de transición, mitad y mitad, va siendo mucho más adulta pero sigue teniendo esos toques adolescentes, aún así, técnicamente es una sobrada, cada plano está medido con lupa y como curiosidad, es la primera película que consta con un decorado totalmente artificial, con un chroma vaya, y para ser de 2007, ha envejecido muy muy bien.
Una cosa hay que decir, y es que la última media hora, más o menos, de película, es un SÍ muy grande, lo que llevaba esperando toda la película, qué maravilla, posiblemente el mejor duelo de magos que habrá en toda la saga.
Bueno, y no quiero mencionar a Luna Lovegood, qué maravilla.… Expand

The fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort is sublime, truly. Dolores Jane Umbridge is identical to the book, I swear, spitefully portrayed exactly as in the book. Intense film but which has some flaws like music, in fact this chapter is the worst from this point of view, and the battle at the Ministry of Magic which turns out to be too, how to say, "cold". As a child I loved this film, now, being able to recognize its flaws, I weighed my judgment and I say 7.… Expand

Bellatrix is such a lovely lady and she always cheers me up and turns my usual frown upside down every time I see her lovely nurturing motherly nature on display in this terrific top notch film. Bellatrix is the most sexiest and kindest woman alive in my humble opinion and I wish she was my Mother, tells me I'm a naughty boy and looks after me every day so that's a great testament to how much I adore this film. I know nothing bad will happen to me when I'm watching this film because I know Bellatrix Motherly instincts will protect me from any harm that comes to me, oh I love her so much, I wish I could hug her all the time to show her how much I love her.

James Potter was a great man, my 2nd favourite fictional character of all time and he showed that sobbing little man baby known as Snivellus Snape who's boss and I always cheer and clap every time I see that lovely Snape memory scene in this film as Snape gets some payback for having fashion sense that gives people nightmares, an annoying tendency to read and study things all the time and forever being an evil know it all. James and his friends are really complex memorable characters full of enlightening personality traits and they are great role models for British boys and this film always makes me appreciate that I have friends like James Potter did that I can have great fun with. This film is guaranteed to make you smile if you're a British boy crying out for some motherly affection… Expand

Every Harry Potter movie is good. I love them all. Each one is at least a 8/10 or better. They are all very re-watchable. And they are just feel good movies. I often put them on to fall asleep to. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Imelda Staunton, Michael Gambon, Evanna Lynch, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Matthew Lewis, Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Mark Williams, Julie Walters, and Jason Isaacs all gave stupendous performances. The visual effects were spectacular especially the thestrals, when the students were learning the Patronus spell, Hagrid's half brother Grawp, and the centaurs. The writing, story and screenplay were fantastically amazing. The sets and scenery were very nicely done. Also the film score was great.… Expand

This film is the adaptation of the fifth book in the Harry Potter's saga, written by JK Rowling, and is the first film that was directed by David Yates, the last director to join the franchise, this time to stay. YatesA passage to maturity.

This film is the adaptation of the fifth book in the Harry Potter's saga, written by JK Rowling, and is the first film that was directed by David Yates, the last director to join the franchise, this time to stay. Yates was up to the task: this film is one of the most complex and profound of the saga and have some important psychological developments of the characters, as well as large computerized effects and great moments of action. The film maintains basically unchanged the cast structure of the previous films and, although it ignores some details and passages that other directors would have appreciated, is still very true to the story of the book. Its also necessary to remember that the size of Rowling's books has been gradually increasing, which may explain some of the omissions in the film. It can be said, in fact, that the movie, in a certain way, even surpasses the book.

And so, the saga walks to it's final films, which are increasingly more interesting, more adult, more deep and psychologically complex. A true passage to maturity.… Expand

Unpopular amongst some viewers and readers alike, Order of the Phoenix is the most politically minded film of the series, the most down to earth, and possibly the smartest. Visual effects and wondrous magical spells - while present of course - definitely take a back seat, and the focus is shifted onto the threats of corruption, power, censorship and the media, as it is revealed that the magical government is unfortunately as crooked as our own.

In one of Rowling's smartest moves, her personification of everything wrong with the education system is delivered in the form of Dolores Umbridge, a character so morally bankrupt and far more threatening than Voldemort himself. Imelda Staunton is almost too good in the role, as the skin crawls and the blood boils every time she steps in front of the camera. The maturing cast continues to improve, with a breath of fresh air provided by Evanna Lynch as Luna, whose comic timing never fails to bring a smile. Also welcome back are Gary Oldman and Emma Thompson, not to mention the intensely threatening Jason Issacs and his fabulous hair.

Though the important themes of the movie come first, the cinematography and the visuals must be congratulated. The pace of the film is somewhat inconsistent, and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg seems to lose his grip on the material at times, which may confuse viewers who haven't read the book. And while the final battle sequence is the most intense and brilliantly shot yet, it seems over far too quickly.

In spite of its few drawbacks, Phoenix is so expertly thought out and put together, and is the first film of the franchise that really forces its Muggle audience to think about their own world.… Expand

The fifth entry in the beloved saga set in Hogwarts, Order of the Phoenix continues the trend of directors changing in this beloved franchise. Yet, forHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix finally delivers on the promise of the series. The fifth entry in the beloved saga set in Hogwarts, Order of the Phoenix continues the trend of directors changing in this beloved franchise. Yet, for the first time, a director finally corrects the issue plaguing the success of the films: the length. Streamlining the story and focusing only on the portions that actually impact the story and the climactic battle, Yates turns Order of the Phoenix into far-and-away the best film in the franchise thus far. Able to focus on the story, use the already established characters perfectly, and introduce new ones into the fold, Yates is able to make this a sequel less rooted in the series' original innocence and youth, but rather a far more mature effort out of pure necessity. No longer able to stick their head in the sand and refuse to see what is going in the world around them, the students of Hogwarts must grow up and take charge when the adults will not. As such, their youth is becoming abridged and they must grow up overnight. In Order of the Phoenix, they are able to do just that.

In narrowing duff the fluff and childish elements such as the Quidditch, Yates is able to make Order of the Phoenix a strong thematic work. Dealing with numerous themes, the film may be a bit obvious in their dealings with characters coming right out and saying what it all means, but the film nonetheless handles it well. Plus, its overt and blunt nature can be easily explained by the audience it is targeting: young teens. Ensuring that they get the message about good and evil being in all of us, leaving it up to us to decide what to become, is heard and understand far exceeds any need for subtlety. That said, strong writing and acting - especially from Gary Oldman and Michael Gambon who are largely tasked with pointing Harry in the right direction by way of the film's themes - make the themes rousing and powerfully realized. Watching Harry struggle between both sides and having to rely upon his friends and their love for him to overcome it all is powerful, moving, and incredibly resonant. Where the film could become preachy or cloying, it instead becomes a momentous achievement for a franchise seeking firm footing. In Yates, it finds this with the man able to balance the youth of the characters with the wisdom they must possess to succeed that will tear away their innocence.

In exploring its themes of good and evil, the film draws an interesting parallel to Lucifer in its depiction of Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs). His name is obviously a dead giveaway of this fact, but as he tempts Harry with the ability to see and rule over the world, it becomes rather interesting. As a death-eater, Lucius does the bidding of Voldemort, so then how could he be Lucifer? While odd on the surface, it makes a lot of sense. Lucifer is like any other being swayed by evil and temptation. Once good, he is led astray to becoming more evil than good and seeks to destroy others along with himself. Yet, absolute evil - or, in the context of the film, Voldemort - led to him to betray himself and his honor. In portraying Lucius/Lucifer as merely a supporter of the absolute evil in the film, Order of the Phoenix shows some subtle nuance that is unexpected, but smartly constructed.

However, this show is really all about the battle. With Yates' approach focusing on important details to the plot over developing already developed characters, Order of the Phoenix manages to efficiently and strongly build-up to its climax. With Rocky-esque montages defining the opening hour of this film as the students learn the Dark Arts to defend themselves from Voldemort, Order of the Phoenix constantly builds to the moment where it puts those students in the position to actually use their newly developed skills. Furthermore, with the depth of their training and the constant ominous dread regarding Voldemort's return lurking in the background, it is hard not to get caught up in the tension and thrill of what is upcoming. When the climactic battle finally arrives, it lives up to every bit of tension and anticipation in both this film and the series as a whole. Exciting and leaving you on the edge of your seat, the only word to accurately describe this battle is "epic". In scope, feeling, and design, every bit of this battle is epic. As the kids run through the building and fight the Death-Eaters, as the Order of the Phoenix arrives to fight the Death-Eaters, and as Voldemort and Dumbledore square off with one another, the film delivers thrills and excitement like the series has yet to see. In the first five films, it is hard to find a better constructed scene in terms of fight choreography, special effects, or in direction. It is a thrilling cap to the film that satisfies the tension of this film and builds additional amounts up for its successors. It is the kind of sequence that makes you crave more time in the Wizarding World.… Expand

The Order of the Phoenix is one of the most hated of the Harry Potter movies, it should have been longer, and it could have done more justice to the book. Rowling.

Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) is back with his cynical relatives, his cousin ends up being attacked by a dementor and Harry must use his magic to save him. This leads to him getting expelled from Hogwarts school as he performed magic in the presence of a muggle outside of the Wizard world. However, Madeye Moody (Brendan Gleeson) manages to help Harry escape his home and take him back to Hogwarts.

Upon getting there, Harry finally meets up with his friends; Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint), as well as seeing Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) who informs Harry that there might be a war brewing since Voldermort (Ralph Fiennes) has returned.

The events of "The Goblet of Fire" (2005) still haunt Harry as he has recurring nightmares of the night Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson) was killed by Voldermort, yet nobody, other than Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) believes Harry. He manages to get out of trouble after Dumbledore defends Harry in a court case since he used magic outside of Hogwarts, but for some reason, Dumbledore seems distant from Harry, not even looking at him, and always walking past him whenever he tries to get his attention. Harry fails to understand this at the moment, but it soon becomes clear later on.

It is also announced that a new professor named Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) is placed as the new teacher for the Defence Against the Dark Arts, and after Harry quarrels with her, she becomes very quick to judge Harry and punishes him for even thinking that there is a possibility that a former Hogwarts student was killed by the Dark Lord. Ron and Hermione hear about Harry's brutal and unfair punishment from Umbridge, and they urge Harry to tell Dumbledore about this, but for some reason, Harry refuses to even tell, as he assumes that maybe he deserves all of this, or maybe this is just some sign that he must be able to take any form of brutality if he were to go to war with Voldermort.

Harry begins to receive more nightmares as it seems that Voldermort is getting into Harry's head, he does not understand why this is happening, but Professor Snape (Alan Rickman) tries to teach him to control his thoughts and discipline his mind. Things also get worse when Umbridge sets new rules for the school after Dumbledore's absence, which leads Harry, Ron and Hermione to set up their own little club where students can learn to defend themselves against the dark arts. Without Umbridge's knowledge.

'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' is a more steady paced movie, there are moments of dark tension and emotional complications. Director David Yates chooses cleverly how to handle the tone and pacing for this particular story and the cast, once again, manage to commit to their performances, especially Imelda Staunton, who plays the ever so unlikeable Dolores Umbridge.

The battle scenes are small, but they are gripping and dark and at times, haunting. The effectiveness of the mental and inner conflict work well for the title character and what we are about to see in future installments. This is another good chapter of the franchise.… Expand

2007 seems to be a rough year for films. Likely, Harry Potter managed to keep 2007 its glory days with its next installment being at least better than most of the installments, but not movies such as Ratatouille.

I tried my best to enjoy this movie as if I never read the book.

I enjoyed it because it's quite action-packed. I really liked the final 35 minutes of the movie. The battle scenes were much better than I imagined.

Unlike the previous movie, I was pretty much okay with most changes even though I was a little upset.

However, there were some changes I am not okay with:

-The entire Quidditch part had to be cut off. It's sad. The fact the movie did not even acknowledge the sport just creates more plot holes in my opinion. Also, it had a huge character development on Ron. Ron in the movie basically felt useless without the Quidditch. AND WHERE THE HELL IS "WEASLEY IS OUR KING"?
-Ron, Hermione and Malfoy not being Perfects. Again, it's a character development that should not have been ignored.
-Petunia Dudley's important role in Harry's life. This is a huge character development among the Dudleys in the book. This shouldn't have been ignored.
-Ginny Weasley's maturity is not shown explicitly. Again, character development that is not to be ignored. She could have been more liked by the people who only watch the movies if her badass attitude from the books, is shown in the movies.

As an aspiring screenwriter however, I understand why the writer of the movie had to make so much cuts. It's really hard to translate the longest book in the Harry Potter series into the second-shortest movie.

There are some changes I am okay with as well:

-St. Mungo scenes has to be cut. I think Dudley finding out about his parents in the Room of Requirement instead was a good choice to make the movie faster without losing its essence.
-The replacement teacher for Professor Trelawney is not featured in the movie. I felt like this is a filler honestly so I see why it has to be cut.
-Rita Skeeter not featured in the movie. GOOD. And also, another filler in the book.
-Cho Chang becoming a **** instead. I think this would make her more unlikable than she was in the books, where she whines about her dead ex instead of whistleblowing Dumbledore's Army. GREAT.

The tone of the movie is suprisely more lighter than the previous movie. It still had its humor, but not completely from the book.

The casting and the performances are great as well. I think that is much of the best highlight out of the movie series.

Overall, the main importance of the movie is that if you enjoy it, then you enjoyed it despite the many cuts it had to make, which irked many fans. But come on, if you did not enjoy it because of the cuts, then, it's your problem.… Expand

Compared to the previous movie, is this movie much better and it was also funny at some places. The music from Nicholas Hooper is great and there are a lot of unique and cool things in this movie that I haven't seen before, which I really enjoyed. The actors in this movie are awesome, and this movie is also very well made and I never got bored. The negative thing about this movie is that the tempo is a little to slow and it wasn't that much "Hogwarts" in this movie as in the previous movies. I also found it difficult to string along in this movie, which I didn't like.
I also think that the director could have done more in this movie, but in the end it this movie still great, because the story is very good and the ending couldn't have been more awesome as it is.

In my opinion, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is not only the second-shortest, but also the second-worst film of the eight and the transition between teenage problems and the real peril emanating from Voldemort’s return just isn’t accomplished very well.… Expand

It was always going to be difficult to adapt the longest book in the Harry Potter franchise, but new director David Yates and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg have managed to inject some nostalgic feel to the fifth entry, while also making itIt was always going to be difficult to adapt the longest book in the Harry Potter franchise, but new director David Yates and screenwriter Michael Goldenberg have managed to inject some nostalgic feel to the fifth entry, while also making it quite a real and standalone film, and also the longest book to the shortest film.
We could be safe in assuming that after the events of the fourth instalment, the wizarding world would be in turmoil after the return of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). But it’s in fact quite the opposite, the Ministry of Magic, the governing body of the magical world, deny the Dark Lords return, and have therefore branded Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) liars.
But from the opening scenes of the film, it’s clear the Ministry are very wrong indeed, Dementors are roaming the Muggle world, and Harry has been called for a jury within the Ministry, the same one smearing his name, for using magic to defend himself against the horrific creatures.
Other than that, Harry has quite the ordinary build up to Hogwarts that has been missing in previous years, until he meets Ministry-influenced Professor Dolores Umbridge, played with a love/hate aura of elegance by Imelda Staunton, who not only causes problems for Harry, but for the rest of Hogwarts as well.
But this is very much a journey for Harry, who is the real centre of everything going on, he’s having bad dreams but is also being recognised for all his near misses across the years, to the point where he asked by an abundance of students to help them defend themselves.
The title comes from the organisation who attempt to fight against Voldemort and his Death Eaters, consisting of the likes of Dumbledore, Snape (Alan Rickman) and Sirius Black (Gary Oldman), forming the Order of the Phoenix.
As a more singular film, this is a welcome adjustment to the tone of the franchise, and with spectacular effects, especially a battle between two powerful wizards, this is one of them most visually pleasing entries to date. The children or teens really have their moment to shine in the fifth instalment, taking matters into their own hands not only to protect themselves, but to protect Harry as well.
Love continues to be in the air, Harry and his friends truly are growing, and being around the same age as the actors I can’t help but look back at the fact that I’ve grown up with them.
In terms of the book to film discussion, more and more sacrifices have obviously been made to cut the book down dramatically to adapt it for the screen, but Yates and Goldenberg have did the almost impossible.
Many questions have yet to be answered but we are left with the tragic knowledge that things can only get worse for the Boy Who Lived.… Expand

Obvious that Yates was not wrong at all, the action scenes are brilliant and very well played, the track is good (at least better than the HP4), the only weak point of the film is the script lacked many scenes, more missed moments Navy, a larger scene in the Ministry of Magic ....

I will not say much except that it is one of the best movies adapted from the book, but the funny thing is the movie is the shortest of the series, the longest book out of it, but do not rely usually very fast The performances of most of the cast are poor, is the most bad guy this time, it shows that the work was accelerated, only action but Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort was very short.
Nose to say as it is one of the poorest and Harry Potter and loose only recommend it to fans, if you're a fan, do not recommend it, but overall it's good.

They changed a lot from the book but almost all of them worked well in the scope of the film. The acting was the best it's been yet, the plot developed really well, and the darker cinematic vibe was perfect for how Harry was feeling throughout the book. Honestly, there was really only one negative and it's something they changed from the book so if you haven't read it you might not mind at all. As I said before, "almost all" of the changes worked well. This particular change, however, did not. In my opinion, the most intensely emotional and dramatic sequence in all of the first five books happens in Dumbledore's office after they all returned from the Ministry of Magic. In that moment, the emotions of what took place at the ministry almost literally pour out of the pages. The director felt, I suppose, that this gut wrenching portion of the book was sufficiently covered in a mere 30 seconds of filming where Harry and Dumbledore barely scratch the surface of what occurred in the actual book. I think this scene should've met the book completely. Only then could they have done it justice. Without that flaw, however, the movie would've been darn near perfect. I hope the movies continue to get better and better.… Expand

Other great movie Potter, but not excellent, is some boring, but the movie is amazing, have much incredible elemnts, but I think that can be better. This Harry Potter film is great, but not the better of the saga.

(It's Harry's mental combat with Voldemort, who is trying to take over his thoughts.) But Evanna Lynch's portrayal of Luna Lovegood was the real highlight of the movie. With it being the longest book and shortest film they had a lot of work to make this not rushed and boy did they do fantastic. Strong performances, beautiful visuals, great action, thrills and some heartwarming moments. I think David Yates (the director) did something that no other director in the franchise did so far - He took the film and made it his own. We see bits of creativity from Yates through out and it works well. I have given every Harry Potter movie up until this review a 10. But what dropped a point here? Well, the mood is set magnificently and the characters have matured considerably. There is no question that the Harry Potter films have gotten darker and more interesting each time. But this one is probably the most dark, intense and interesting out of all of them. But this one is probably the most dark, intense and interesting out of all of them. The innocence within Harry Potter and his friends has completely vanished. This film is a real character study of Harry, but only Harry. There is very little development for the other characters. They for the most part serve as nothing more but a supporting cast, unlike previous chapters, which weakens the film. But overall, it's entertaining and remarkably acted, especially Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge). Helena Bonham Carter was remarkable as well, but I felt her character (Bellatrix Lestrange) was very much underused. 3/4 stars.… Expand

With newbie director David Yates in control of the Harry Potter franchise, the movie's 'order' has been severely complex, making the wonderful acting from the potter trio & the marvelous CGI kinda hard to follow.

While without a doubt being the most well-acted and action packed Potter adaptation at the time, Order of the Phoenix is also the worst adaptation. Yes, even worse than Prisoner of Azkaban. Yes, even worse than Prisoner of Azkaban. But, it was Prisoner of Azkaban that prepared me for future films. Goblet of Fire may have been a very faithful adaptation of the book, but I didn't let my guard down. I knew that there was a good chance that there would be another film that would be rather thin in the loyalty department. Therefore, I was able to enjoy Order of the Phoenix. I'll start with the positives. Like I said, the acting is great; the main 3 had really come into their own at this point. Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), despite the brief role, is just as diabolical as before. Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) might be the best character in the film, as you will hate her from the get-go. Visually, it is also very impressive. Beautiful, actually. Next, come the complaints. By being thin in the loyalty department I MEAN thin. David Yates condensed a 760 page book into a 139 minute film (shortest in the series if you don't count Deathly Hallows Part 2). This creates a few problems... First of all, the secondary characters get very little screen time. Ginny Weasley actually has about 2 lines in the whole film (although she is in most of it), and she is an important character. A scene that would have been awesome was the Quidditch scene, where Harry punches Malfoy. If they had shown a little more of the Ministry scene (the magical rooms in the department of mysteries), that would have let me give this film at least an 8... maybe a 9. I know that people have complained about the films' lengths, but what's an extra 15 minutes?… Expand

The new political themes are handled well, and as always in this series the actors did a phenomenal job. Its climax is also one of the series' best, with a dazzling battle between Dumbeldore and Voldemort amid a hail of shattered glass. In the end, Order of the Phoenix manages to do the impossible and be almost better than the book it was based on.… Expand

Order of the Phoenix is definitely the breakout film in the Harry Potter series you'll come across because of how this goes from beginning to end. The performances are top notch here and the story sticks to the main plot if the book. When Lord Voldemort is already having armies at his command, Harry, Ron, Hermoine, and gang battle against him as they encounter new enemies and old enemies before Harry learns that "neither one can live while the other survives". I've saw this in a theater in Fredericksburg, Virginia, enjoyed it and now time for my opinion to make this review a little bit short. The fantasy action was amazing, the acting was neat and entertaining, the characters were a little bit developed, the villian Lord Voldemort was intimidating, but a lot of fun thanks to Ralph Fiennes' amazing performance, and the storyline was well-paced. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is an entertaining entry of the fantastic series. Next two reviews are HP6 and HP7 Part 1. 8/10… Expand

Another important thing is the new director, David Yates, who will close this saga, the last being the division of the seventh book. Some dislike it, hated the choice, they argue that the return of Alfonso Cuaron would have been a better choice, do not know the reasons for this has not been done but we agree with that thought. Want to know what to think of it? Wonderful, this means that Harry Potter, even in his fifth film, has the chops to stay in front, with people debating its positive and negative, it just proves the success of the series. The most interesting is that it will continue delighting every fan spread across the planet, each person, like me, who believe that Harry Potter is not just a passing fad, and that is very, very much further.… Expand

It wasn't perfect, but it's the closest movie in the entire franchise up to this point that was close to perfection. As for every Harry Potter movie, every character has a unique role and every actor plays their part well. The film like all the others, has a natural tendency to not be perfect. David Yates has put the franchise where it needs to be, and where fans want it. He has adapted the 5th book in the best way possible and with the technology that stands as of 2007, the effects are impressive. This movie stands out more than any other film up to this point, and I hope the fans feel the same thing.… Expand

In my opinion, this is the second best made Harry Potter film to date (behind Half Blood Prince). The films are getting darker and more exciting and the storyline is brewing along nicely as we get closer to the great finale. It hits the nail on the head in the tone of the book and by far the best peformances by the actor, and are spot on playing their characters. Nothing else! Music (if there was any) is the weakest point of the movie!! Story... I'm a die hard fan of Harry Potter but watching this movie makes me very drowsy. The ootp novel is one of the best but looks like this movie has been made by a bunch of people who have just lost everything. It's so dull!! Acting... This time Daniel has improved a lot. Rupert and Emma were good as usual. Imelda as Umbridge rocked but I think she was given more than enough screen space. At the end of the movie I was tired of watching her but it's the fault of the newbie screenwriter and director. Gary Oldman as Sirius was fabulous. Watching Harry and Siruis together was a real enjoyment. Michael Gambon as Dumbledore was a little better but still Richard Harris was the true Dumbledore. May he rest in peace. Direction... I'd only say that David Yates ruined it! Visuals... They were ok. Nothing extraordinary. The end fight which was the most hyped was the most boring in the movie especially the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort. Why don't they stick to the book?! I feel like crying!!!! The only nice thing about this movie is the acting and the scene when Voldemort gets inside Harry.… Expand

The problem with this movie is, and has been for the last few Potter films, that it's a compromise. It's not advisable to make a movie over three hours long, because after that it's a wee bit too much to watch on one sitting, The problem with this movie is, and has been for the last few Potter films, that it's a compromise. It's not advisable to make a movie over three hours long, because after that it's a wee bit too much to watch on one sitting, but ironically three hours of movie isn't quite enough to sum up the plot of a book as long as The Order Of Phoenix. Despite it's length, in many parts it feels like the story is rushed to the next key point, and many aspects of the book (f.ex. quidditch) have been completely dropped off. Because the storytelling in the movie is processing with such fast pace, it may be hard for people who have not read the actual book to follow the quick advancing of the story. You should judge the movie by it's own merits, it is decent work as a visual captivation of the Harry Potter- universe, and a nice supporting view in parallel with the one you yourself have created in your mind while reading the book. As a stand-alone movie experience however, without reading the book, it is merely an average piece of work.… Expand

the Harry potter movies were amazing and they were VERY good and detailed and, best of all, exciting despite the separation from the JK Rowling books which resulted in drastic changes to the series, although the movie is better
