It wasn't a fantastic film, but entertaining enough for the $1.27 Redbox rental. My absolute favorite part was the ending, which surprised me (in a good way). It isn't often enough that justice is TRULY done in this genre.

Almost skipped it after reading reviews but decided to go anyway and were pleasantly surprised. Sure there where some things that were a stretch of reality, but not enough to kill the creepy, something bad is about to happen to her vibe. Definitely more entertaining than many of the movies getting better reviews, but then what else is new? Much more engaging than the well reviewed bad cop movie we saw last week and that seems to be a favorite with the critics. Expand

Gone 7/10. When I read reviews about this movie people went on about all the twists and turns this movie takes, but to be honest, I can't think of one single plot twist in this movie, it's pretty straight forward. And while I'm a big fan of plot twists and surprises, I still enjoyed Gone a lot. One thing it does right is suspense, there were times when I really feared the main character was in some serious danger, especially that lamb to the slaughter type ending it had, on one hand you think she'll be alright, on the other you think she's pretty much dead. I liked the ending a lot, it highlights how ****ty cops are at their jobs. Expand

It was worth watching. Decent thriller / suspense movie. Nothing groundbreaking. But definitely worth renting at from Redbox. I think the critics were a bit harsh. If you're just looking to be entertained it will suffice.

There were a few things I didn't like example: the scripting and the way they ended the film was a bit stupid...some how they could of done better then that. Overall the rating I'm giving it is a 7.5 it was a film i enjoyed watching wouldn't say much more then that. Thanks for reading :) Expand

8/10 for this film. I enjoyed this film but there are some plot holes and some of the twists don't make sense. The one guy who actually does believe her seems to be the suspect but then suddenly this new guy comes out of nowhere. Those twists8/10 for this film. But if you can get over that stuff it is a really enjoyable film. Expand

This is a grippinng mystery/thriller which has plenty of suspense. It has quite a sinister tone throughout, with dim lighting and heavy use of suspenseful music to add atmosphere - think stringed instruments etc.). It has quite a sinister tone throughout, with dim lighting and heavy use of suspenseful music to add atmosphere - think stringed instruments etc.). The plot is nothing new but regardless, its acted out well and I'd say that Amanda Seyfried put in a particularly chilling performance, portraying the main character Jill, seeming very much obsessed with the disappearance of her sister and insistant on not letting anyone or anything stop her from finding her.

There are some plot twists present which are pretty good. The movie lasts about an hour and forty minutes, so compared to some movies its fairly short, meaning that it, thankfully, doesn't suffer the curse of being annoyingly boring and filled out with 'padding' (unnecessary, bland scenes), at least not in my opinion anyway. The pace isn't always fast for the entire duration of the movie but the dialogue is good and I didn't find myself bored with it at any point - most of the time we're learning new details of what may have happened the night her sister disappeared and we (as viewers, or I as a viewer) find ourselves quite engrossed, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together as it were and come to the conclusions Jill has.

There are themes of paranoia, trust, doubt and mental health present in the movie, which doesn't give much away considering these all come to light fairly early on. The movie may make you question the local police but then I suppose most could sympathise with their stance, given the background involved.

Ordinarily, I'd say that this is a rather predictable movie that isn't a big deal but I feel like it was well shot and directed, with a good cast and I didn't feel bored out of my mind, infact I thought it was really quite engrossing overall, so I can't say its a bland or bad movie overall. I think the cinematography, classic score and casting have alot to do with that. The characters present are all fairly interesting, they all have their different quirks and potential motives, from Sharon Ames who works in the same diner as Jill, to Mr. Miller who works at a lock smith company.

Yes, I think overall I would recommend watching this movie as I found it quite suspenseful and engrossing. The performances are good and its not too long drawn out - for a movie of its type, its a pretty good one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Please, do not trust any man's review of this movie. Honestly, this deserves a 10 just for the horrifying shot at the end of the killer coming out of the side tunnel in the hole. Yes, the plotline is not super action filled, but that is not the point of the movie. Seyfried preforms Brilliantly as a woman neglected by a carceral and police system that refuses to respect and listen to women. That is the ulitmate message of the movie. Those who say the clues were too easy to obtain aren't realizing that it's the journey of how she gets them that is the true point. She consistantly has to lie about her true reasons for asking questions, instead knowing that the society around her will only assist her if they believe she is looking for missing/damaged property or a lost man instead of her sister who she knows is in danger. In response to critisim of the "quick wrap up," the point isn't that we focus on the killer at the end but the police force who would rather believe that a young woman is "delusional" than truly investigate the violence often behind the stories of missing and murdered women. Too often the cases involing the disapperances of women are blamed on victims (doubly so, if the victims are Black or Indigenous) and that is what the movie is trying to investigate. Amanda Seyfried does a fantastic job playing a victim/survivor trying to regain her agency in a world that would rather pin blame on her than seek true accountability. Her behavior and visable internal self-doubt at times is so similar to mine and that of other survivors of similar traumas that it made my heart hurt. All in all, it definitely doesn't deserve the poor rating it currently has. Expand
