Oh Come On!
This is not a good movie at all!, Since this is the final film, This should’ve ended with a bang, not a whimper.

That is not an endorsement of this films horrid writing by any stretch. In fact I would ask that anyone who considers themselves even a casual fan of this franchise pretend that Freddy's dead doesn't exist. Yes it is that bad. This film makes a mockery of Freddy Kruger and his fans. Here he is reduced to a strangely comic villain instead of being an evil serial killer. Would you like to see Freddy kill a teenager with the power glove? If so then this is the film for you. But I suspect that most of you will be taken aback by that revelation. For the love of god don't watch this piece of **** it will haunt you for the rest of your life. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the most horrendous films I have ever seen. And one of my favorite movies, for all the wrong reasons. Nothing gets more atrocious and hilarious than this! .
.
Normally I divide my reviews into good, mixed and bad parts. But for this film, there's just good - very little of genuinely good and a lot of good things for all the wrong reasons. Genuinely speaking they are really bad, but as I didn't really hate them, I didn't want to call them as "bad". .
.
Speaking of actual good, Robert Englund shows off his comic skills and goofiness really well. It's being done in a completely wrong movie. There are homages to Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes. Again in a completely wrong movie. By the tone, you might have guessed it (correctly) that it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Now let me just say what were really good. As I said, Robert Englund has a really good comedic side to him, and he shows it off well. There are Looney Tunes references and are great in what they are. Also, it has the flashbacks of Freddy's past and we get to see the pre-boogeyman Freddy. I have always wanted to see a full fledged Freddy origins movie or a short film. So, I liked those parts. And that's all about it. The movie is a f**king bulls**t. I can agree with that, though I like it. The comedic and slapstick parts were the totally wrong choices for a Nightmare film. Robert Englund might have shown his comedic skills, but Freddy doesn't have them. It is the worst incarnation of Freddy. They lost their balance between maniacal Freddy and goofball Freddy since part 4. Here, they went full on bonkers with goofball Freddy. The kills involve Freddy playing Nintendo games with power gloves to kill a moron, and literally says "boing, boing, ... boingboingboingboing". John Doe kill reminds me of a generic Road Runner episode with Coyote planning to kill the bird. And the Carlos kill is my favorite! Freddy simply scratches a blackboard and blasts the heads off! You need to see the reaction of Carlos in the entire sequence. If that doesn't make you laugh, nothing will. In fact, this movie is a complete package of laughter. So, what makes it so bad for so many people? Despite all of this, it takes itself seriously. While a lot Freddy fans get enraged by the seriousness, I get more of a laugh out if it. It's so atrocious that it is entertaining! All the actors have given incredibly terrible and over the top performances. Really dumb and corny, making the movie more entertaining. I can appreciate the basic ideas for 4 & 5, movies which I didn't really like. This doesn't even have that sort of an idea! Every idea that has been put in it are the wrong ones. And those wrong ideas are implemented in the worst way possible. .
.
Conclusion : All of the things I liked about it are absolutely wrong for a movie like this, but more appropriate for a parody of the same. Freddy's past is shoehorned like f**k, and if you're in a serious mood, this movie is infuriating as hell. You need a right time to enjoy the atrocity of it. I do like it for all the wrong reasons, but in all seriousness, even I would say F**K THIS MOVIE! .

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Freddy's Dead has a jokester Freddy instead of a scary Freddy. The movie is ridiculous with a few good moments. Also, I hate the 3D effects and the cartoony things. So did they really save the best for last? Because to me it seems like it's the worst. Expand

That being said it's still zany, creative and fun. It also has some surprising twists that actually make things a little more complex. One of them is about how Freddy's daughter was taken away from him and that was one if the main reasons he wanted to take all their kids away from them. The movie also has Kruger's victims coming out of a halfway house for troubled teens so it deals with issues such as child abuse, rape and other nasty bits. In the end Englund is more comedic than ever it's like a straight up cartoon character but the movie is fun and although the 3D feels a bit gimmicky it blew me away as s kid and the finale still holds up. For better or worse director Rachael Talalay's (Ghost on the Machine) film is a flawed but somewhat inspired entry to end off the franchise.

It isThe original 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' is still to me one of the scariest and best horror films there is, as well as a truly great film in its own right and introduced us to one of the genre's most iconic villains in Freddy Krueger. It is always difficult to do a sequel that lives up to a film as good as 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' let alone one to be on the same level.

As far as 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' sequels go, there are good ones such as 'The Dream Master' (number 4) and especially 'Dream Warriors' (number 3) but also disappointing ones with 'The Dream Child (number 5) and this 'The Final Nightmare' (the second film 'Freddy's Revenge' was also underwhelming but not as much as 5 and 6).

Very little to recommend, with the only good things being Robert Englund doing his conscientious and freaky best and the haunting music.

While a little better-looking than the fifth film, being not as crude and self-indulgent, the suitably nightmarish at times production design is wasted by the film looking drab and dreary and it can look sloppy. The 3D looks cheap and was truly pointless. Like the previous film, erratically paced (both rushed and tedious), ridiculous and non-atmospheric story with scares that are unimaginatively derivative, too far and between and vapidly tame on the whole. It lacks any kind of originality and is all very ho-hum.

Englund aside, the acting is both bland and annoying. The cameos from Rosanne Barr, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper were just as unnecessary as the 3D and are neither interesting or funny. Like the fifth film though, the cast have to work with an awkwardly clunky script and irritating characters that are written childishly and make decisions that frustrate. Even the humour doesn't work, Freddy's one-liners are more stale and toe-curlingly groan-worthy than twisted or witty and what was darkly comic before is replaced by an overload of cheese. The direction is largely unimaginative, while there is far too much of an over-reliance on gimmicks (none fresh or clever) and the ending is one of the lamest and most tacked on there is in horror.

Overall, an incredibly tired entry and suggestive that the series is dead. 2/10 Bethany Cox

Would be 0/10, but I'm giving it 2 points for at least creating an ending for this washed up, low quality, zombie of a franchi-

I was expecting rubbish like the other sequels but I got… errr… something worth a watch. I would like to say that I got the impression that this version was cut by the studio to get the R-Rating that it has. The story is incoherent but it doesn't try to do anything unlike the other pathetic sequels in this series. The writing is good, the pace good, the direction good, the violence good and so on. There is nothing that makes this stand out except when comparing to A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) through to A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989). Final judgement - strikingly good when you think that this is number six in the series. Expand

This had a full 30 second hot rod rolling down the hill scene. He killed someone by running his blades along a chalkboard. All the continuity has been completely chucked in the bin. Freddy was so stupid and annoying in this.

Expand
