(Mauro Lanari)
The tension between a Hitchcockian ending like "Psycho" (1960) and a Crichtonian one like "Coma" (1978), ie between mental and real, is spoilered by the title itself. And Netflix stole me a further hour and a half of life.

The logic throughout is confusing and nonsensical. The ending pointless because none of the events leading up to the conclusion mattered. This felt like someone had an idea and money for a movie but without the foresight to know that there was no substance to the idea and very little to work with in medium. another film that does this idea well is total recall, where you never know if he is in the game or not and you begin to question if Quaid is making a mistake. Here it doesn't feel like that here it is like, it is more thoughtless and more round about because the most logical direct route would have ended the movie in 15 minutes. Expand

Stopped 15 min in. And I guess I was right given the feedback of other viewers. The exposition scene (family thanksgiving dinner gone wrong, stop at a delapitated gas station) is horribly ham-fisted and Sam Worthington's acting is atrocious.Stopped 15 min in. And I guess I was right given the feedback of other viewers. The action that led to the little girl's fall demanded such a suspension of disbelief, that I stopped at this first twist. Expand

I fail to understand what was even the objective of such movies, it is not entertaining, there is no comedy, there is some suspense, there is very poor action. This genre is not for me. Expand

The title kind of gives it away but I predicted the twist around 20 minutes in. Skipped to the end to see if I was right and I was. The cast did a solid job but the story was too predictable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is a fantasy. Not one born out of the delusions of the lead character, but those of the makers. Health Care in the United States is the worst, so lets work that into the movie. And let us aim our arrows of scorn at the hospital staff. Everyone knows that hospital staff don’t care about people, but prefer to push paper around and do double shifts because of….. of what, exactly?

“What is your name, babe?”
”It is Anne.”
”So, doing double shifts?”
”What else is a single girl going to do.”

“Now we established that what is next?”
”We have a story. Like a thriller.. where…where.. people disappear because… because their organs get harvested. You know.. by the hospital.”
”Good idea,… but we need a twist.”
”How about this:… it isn’t true.. but just an illusion or rather a delusion.”
”Nifty. We can play around with that. Maybe do several twists so the viewer gets confused.”
”There is just one problem, though.”
”Which is?”
”Reality.”
”Eh?”
”If anyone behaves like an actual person would, the whole plot falls apart. Just taking the police to the basement where your wife and daughter disappeared to would undo the story. Or that they find his daughter’s shawl in the hospital, but she was never there so the shawl could not have been there. Or that the police walk around with guns that are easy to take away from them and have their safeties off.”
”Relax. I wouldn’t overthink this.”
”Right.”
”Because you know: it is just a movie.”

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie tries to get a Shutter Island vibe by moving the story trough the protagonist POV, but it does it by tricking the viewer in a non creative, repetitive, boring way, in this type of movie, we want to at least feel like we can percieve what's happening on screen, or at least trick our POV in a smart, immersive way, but this movie does the oposite, by just lying to us.
