I love to watch movies in my free time, whether it be a goofy kids movie or a political documentary, and so I watched Five Fingers for Marseilles to explore a genre I’m not familiar with. This film was dramatic and exciting the entire time,I love to watch movies in my free time, whether it be a goofy kids movie or a political documentary, and so I watched Five Fingers for Marseilles to explore a genre I’m not familiar with. This film was dramatic and exciting the entire time, keeping me alert with the stare downs and sudden fights. The director, Michael Matthews, introduced me to new actors who impressed me with their talent in bringing this story to life. Vuyo Dabula, who plays Tau, did a great job portraying both the internal and external struggles of this character. This movie was an exciting experience for me, inspiring me to check out more like it and I’d recommend this to anyone looking for something new.… Expand

The story follows Tau, played by Vuyo Dabula, who leaves his home town when he was young leaving the other four to face the world without him only to return and see the repercussions of his actions and his absence. The perfect amount of action and drama Five Fingers for Marseilles kept me glued to the screen the entire time and didn’t not disappoint. From the amazing acting to the breathtaking scenery this film is a fantastic first for Director Michael Matthews and I look forward to more by him.… Expand

When thinking about a movie with a unique scenery there’s one in particular that comes to mind: Five Fingers for Marseilles. This movie, directed by Michael Matthews and set in South Africa, has the most breath-taking backdrop I’ve seen in a while. I was mesmerized by the landscape. In addition, I thought the warm colors of the film really portrayed the heat in South Africa. This movie did a great job of making me feel like I was actually in the town of Marseilles as the plot of Tau’s journey unraveled. This is a movie I would recommend to anyone looking for a serious, climatic movie. I really enjoyed it!… Expand

It features an all-black cast, which gives South African actors an overdue chance to shine to aTaking a new twist on the western genre, Five Fingers for Marseillesis a captivating film that uses realism to display the events of this tale. It features an all-black cast, which gives South African actors an overdue chance to shine to a large market. Director Michael Matthews is a newcomer to the film industry and impressed me with his use of wide angle shots to display the South African landscape that emphasized the empty backdrop the town is set in. I found newcomer Vuyo Dabula to give an impressive performance as Tau, who is the main protagonist in the movie. The story is ripe and original, being about a troubled outlaw who comes back home, only to discover there is a gang that threatens his town and friends. Being filled with injustice, betrayal, and corruption, I recommend this to any anybody who craves a modern take on the western genre.… Expand
