“The target audiences are teenage girls”, “A date movie”, “The young love audience will swoon”, “Was once called a woman’s movie or a tear jerker”---call “Everything, Everything” whatever you want but I really like young love stories,“The target audiences are teenage girls”, “A date movie”, “The young love audience will swoon”, “Was once called a woman’s movie or a tear jerker”---call “Everything, Everything” whatever you want but I really like young love stories, especially when there is an illness involved!

Maddy Whittier, played by Amandla Stenberg, has SCID, severe combined immunodeficiency, which means she cannot go out of her germ free house, has an all day nurse Carla, played by Ana de la Requera and her mother, played by Anika Noni Rose, is a doctor who takes over from Carla when she gets home.

Not that you would be surprised but a new family moves in next door and Olly, played by Nick Robinson, just as Maddy is about to become 18, his age too. From their talking through windows, texting, his being told about her disease and coming to understanding it to their trusting each other and Maddy’s imagination the time comes for her to take her first step out into the world where she isn’t suppose to go.

Along the way we learn that Olly has an abusive father, Maddy lost her father and brother in a car accident many years before and the fact that Maddy is Black and Olly is White is just a given and has nothing to do with two youngsters falling n love for the first time.

About 50 minutes into the movie Maddy takes her first step out of the house and if you want to see what happens in the remaining 46 minutes go see the movie.

Director Stella Meghie, along with screenwriter J. Mills Goodloe, embrace the teenage romance hitting all the right marks, even when there are emotional moments that could be used to manipulate the audience. They concentrate on the romance aspect ignoring the racial, doesn’t matter, difference, briefly mention the Olly’s abusive father and even make the ‘see it coming’ last 20 minutes acceptable.

Nick Robinson is always dressed in black while Amandla Stenberg basically wears white after falling in love she is in an array of colors and they always complement each other in feelings though have opposite ideas of what love is, or should be, but they are a believable couple throughout the movie.

I’ve always liked Anika Noni Rose and have enjoyed her journey from being a singer on Broadway to becoming an actress in films and on television. Ana de la Requera is a Mexican actress who is new to me and made enough of an impression that I will look forward to seeing her in more films.

If you are a ‘softie’ like me and believe in love, especially first young love, go see “Everything, Everything”.

It revolves around the harsh barriers in the teens' relationship that they must overcome - a forbidden romance with a twist. The actors and script are convincing, and although the plot is not the most realistic (nor relatble), their relationship really is. Be prepared for some awkward flirting scenes - after all, she's never been outside. Expand

Predictable plot, wooden acting and absolutely no point. The film lacks genuine emotion and the audience begs for the love interests to actually act like they love each other. Waste of time and money.

I read the book already have some time and knew very well that they would focus on 95% romance. The actors' choice was almost perfect for me, I was already imagining Amandla doing Maddy from the first chapter of the book! (I'm serious :p)

The soundtrack was the second thing I loved the most in this movie, it just fit so perfectly with the scenes, and gave the film a more relaxed air that I did not find in the book.

To finish this little review, I was simply delighted by the credit scenes to have the illustrations that are present in the pages of the book!

There's a good idea of a film inside this glass disaster. Some scenes and ideas give you a glimmer of what this film could be. The problem is the film's weighed down by plot holes and an absurd ending. D

But, if I'm being honest, even though the film closely resembles whatever the lovechild would be between "The Fault In Our Stars" and "The Space Between Us," it at least has enough of an earnest drive to it to get me through its 96-minute running time. The likable leads and occasionally creative stylistic twist also help in rendering this mostly by-the-numbers romantic drama into the ranks of competency, even with the slightly clumsy third act in mind. Definitely not my cup of tea, but not an ultimately regrettable watch either. Expand

The modern day Rapunzel tale!

There are lots of films to compare with. 'Tangled', 'The Space Between Us' to all the cancer themed films. Yet it is still unique with the reasons it reveals. But highly influenced by Rapunzel tale. Well written and directed, along with the performances. It was not your regular teen romance. It had depth in romance, but the balance between the main two characters were lacking. That did not do any bad for the film. Since it was told from the girl's perspective.

A teen girl with SCID had never left the house almost all of her life. But that is going to change when a new neighbours moves in. The new boy shows interest in her, and so she's. So they develop a friendship through texting. In the next stage of their relationship, things changes and makes them go crazy. Regarding the medical condition of the girl, how the love perspective of this young couple shapes was told in the remaining.

Going by trivia, I think I've missed so many things from the original source. So I'm thinking to read the book now. Because to learn more from the boy's perspective. Yet the film was nice and cute, made nothing wrong to dislike it. Being simple and/or altered to cinematic version is always welcomed by me. There young actors were awesome. It is definitely an under-rated film. Like usual forget the film critics and follow what the film fanatics says. Especially if you are a youngster, you should watch it.

Cute but melodramatic throughout most of the run time, the film feels too cheesy and unbelievable with slight momentum to keep some audiences engaged until realizing a rather foolish ending.

It's never a good sign when a title has your eyes rolling before seeing the movie. It doesn't help how the whole thing plays out.

"Everything, Everything" is sweet and harmless, but the whole thing feels like a girls fantasy of romance.

Everything, Everything is definitely an enormously flawed and fatally cliched forbidden-love picture, but a surprisingly talented cast and a nice story-telling can mean a little redemption to it.
