With a zippy soundtrack and breezy editing style, Every Body comes off as an up-to-date declaration that being intersex is something to be celebrated. In the end, we can’t help but share in the enthusiasm. Read full review

By the end of this illuminating film, we’re forced to confront something much deeper and more insidious: society’s need to divide humans into a binary system, and the sometimes disastrous results for those born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that isn’t neatly “male” or “female.” Read full review

This doc introduces 4 people who had non-consensual medical interventions in an attempt to alter their gender identity. Most of the time is spent interviewing the 3 individuals who are leading the political the movement. They discuss the harm that they've endured, both physically and emotionally, while blazing a path for acceptance and recognition. The 4th profile features a story about the landmark case of David Reimer, which in some ways is more touching than their current stories. This is a fascinating subject and this doc does a good job of stating the case. The major points get repeated, which slows down the momentum, and the music choices can be a bit too obvious. Even so, this little-known subject is brought proudly and effectively out in the open, helping increase understanding and appreciation for all humankind.… Expand
