A good movie, I really liked the re-design of most characters. It has good battle sequences but never gets the quality, that the series has.

Escaflowne is surprisingly more itself as a movie film feature. It is not what might expect especially if time is given to it. Does not disappoint and might even catch back to it again. The action scenes and the romance were pretty good. But you can't take any thing very seriously. In the end there is something missing. There is too much of nothing, just small bits of everything.

It's an awesome movie but the anime series on which the film is based is much better, simply because you lern so much more about the characters and their background.

C'est en effet n'importe quoi de A à Z avec des dirigeables bardés de canons, un dragon robot géant et deux bandes de glandeurs dont les chefs ont des tignasses jusqu'à par terre ; une lycéenne sérieusement bécasse sur les bords se voit promue à l'insu de son plein gré "déesse ailée" alors qu'elle n'a aucune idée de ce qui arrive dans ce "monde" à la mords-moi-le-noeud... et nous non plus d'ailleurs.

C'est certes assez sanglant (attention, y a du sang parce que les sabres, ça coupe) lors des rares combats mais le côté grotesque de ce merdier est hallucinant : on n'arrive effectivement pas à y croire... une seule seconde. Tellement grotesque que ça touche le fond, le fond de l'ennui, car on ne trouve ici aucune matière à en rire ni au 12ème degré ni au-delà...

L'animation est très médiocre et la direction artistique est à l'abandon, sans direction et conséquemment d'un mauvais goût effroyable. Une grosse connerie à fuir absolument !… Expand

A jumbled mess but the scenes that work work well

They tried to fit too much into a relatively short film. It would have benefited from adding a half-hour of character development. That being said there were a handful of scenes that workedA jumbled mess but the scenes that work work well

They tried to fit too much into a relatively short film. It would have benefited from adding a half-hour of character development. That being said there were a handful of scenes that worked really well. The action scenes were fantastic. A few of the more emotional scenes were good as well. Just very little coherence through it all. This film is a missed opportunity of untapped potential. You'll enjoy some of it.… Expand
