"Equity" has very serious script problems. The result of which is that the film feels more like a TV mini-series or TV drama series rather than an actual movie. It also seems strangely dated given our post-2008 Wall St economic meltdown"Equity" has very serious script problems. The result of which is that the film feels more like a TV mini-series or TV drama series rather than an actual movie. It also seems strangely dated given our post-2008 Wall St economic meltdown because this is basically a “glass ceiling” story about how women are discriminated against in a macho business world...... However, the feminism quickly gets tangled up in a storyline about insider trading, stock market manipulation and wannabe SEC-type government investigations and eventually the whole thing “builds” to a confusing and unconvincing climax/denouement (by the way, just exactly what WAS in that Hedgehog stuffed animal ?)…...The script and the film bites off more than it can chew and gets “done in” by an excess of loose ends and false starts. Furthermore Adam McKay’s brilliant “The Big Short” that dealt with the 2008 Wall St.-created global economic meltdown still has to be in many filmgoers minds at this point; a film that dealt with its material with something like genius, and THAT definitely can’t help “Equity”. Equity- for whites only. How is it possible that all the writers, producers, directors and actors in this movie are really this obtuse? Did they did not notice that every single person in the cast of a movie called "Equity" is white? DoEquity- for whites only. How is it possible that all the writers, producers, directors and actors in this movie are really this obtuse? Did they did not notice that every single person in the cast of a movie called "Equity" is white? Do they really believe that white people live in a bubble unconnected to any black or brown people? Do they believe that feminism is not necessarily anti-racist? Do they know enough about feminism to even answer that question? One thing this movie does demonstrate is the limitations on one's worldview and creative capacity caused by white privilege. An utter bore. Expand
