This time they set out to find Harry's long-lost daughter, but not without silly complications. There are a funny moments scattered around and the duo still brings plenty of goofy energy. I left the theater very underwhelmed and feeling guilty that I didn't laugh more because I wanted it to be good so bad. This is not a terrible film by any means. It is awesome to see Harry and Lloyd back together again and I did laugh quite a bit but there were too many times where the jokes missed and the movie fell flat on its face. It also fell way to familiar to the original plot wise and just didn't have many clever jokes like the original did. All in all this is a very mediocre film and I would only recommend renting it Expand

To sum it up shortly, I honestly only laughed out loud during one scene while the rest of the forced gags fell flat on their faces, not to mention they got a little more gross than I would've liked. Overall, while I was entertained for a majority of it, just go home and re-watch the first film because this one just simply isn't worth a trip to the theater if you ask me. Expand

I think there were only a couple moments where I actually laughed out loud, though. When the jokes don't work however, its just embarrassing and awkward to watch. This movie just wasn't clever or funny enough to be warranted. It's not the triumphant return any of us hoped for. That being said, it can still be fun to watch Harry and Lloyd being idiots. If you're willing to take it for it's faults and just enjoy Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, then its worth a watch. I wouldn't spend money on it in theaters though. Expand

Probably not. It does feel a little bit forced. I think the worst part is that they seem to have forgotten how the characters were originally. They seem pretty mean-spirited compared to the first movie... which removes a lot of what makes them likeable in the first place. It removes some of what was the heart of their friendship before. Sure, Lloyd held out on those extra gloves while Harry was freezing... but it was only because he was dumb. And sure Harry went after Mary when he knew Lloyd wanted her but he didn't intend to originally it just sort of happened.

In the sequel, Lloyd outright wants to bone Harry's daughter and doesn't seem to care about Harry's dire situation at all. He also seems to be a tad bit racist. There was an innocence to their dumb antics in the first one that seemed to show they had bigger hearts and the best of intentions. Lloyd may have wanted to bone Mary Swanson, but he also seemed to really want an actual relationship and mistook those feelings of infatuation and desire for true love. I was surprised by how much I didn't like Lloyd Christmas in this one and how unlike himself he seemed.

Also, the writing wasn't nearly as clever. There is a big payoff in the glove/freezing hand scene in the original where Harry starts to choke Lloyd and he cries out in pain, "Your hands are freezing!" That was really funny and clever in the moment. Moments like those are lacking here.

But I think at least one reviewer here got it right in pointing out that the critics hated the original, giving it a Metascore of 39. The critics can't have it both ways. If a movie they ripped on 20 years ago turned out to be a comedy classic ("So you're telling me there's a chance" is still one of the greatest, most cited, lines ever), what are we to make of the sequel's Metascore of 35? The first movie was original and the script wasn't forced. Most of this movie's script is like the writers were constipated of ideas and forced some stuff out. Granted their are some funny moments, but they are about as raunchy as you can be. The whole basis of the story also leaves the viewer saying "this is stupid" at the end of the movie. It is basically a representation of how downhill American humor is going. Expand

Despite the success of the first film, the Farrelly's waited far too long to bring the pair back. Everyone who grew up watching the first film are adults now, and the demographic they were going for with a PG-13 rating, has no idea who Harry and Lloyd are, hence the disappointing numbers at the box office. In this long awaited sequel, Harry (Jeff Daniels) is in need of a kidney and finds out that his only living relative is a daughter he never knew about. That's all it take to get Harry and Lloyd back on the road for more antics AND... they tried too hard. The original film was legitimately laugh out loud funny, while it's sequel may lead to a snicker or two. The beauty of the original is that it was so simple and so stupid that you couldn't help but laugh. The new one is full of long running pranks, modern slang the pair don't understand, and just obvious jokes. There's absolutely no spontaneity, like when Harry chucks the salt over his shoulder or Lloyd puts laxative in Harry's tea. That's not the only issue here, as the bad guys are kind of the biggest joke in the movie and Lloyd finally crosses the line from cute to creepy. The bottom line, I loved seeing Carrey and Daniels together again and I enjoyed the parallels to the first film, but aside from a few misunderstandings and a line here or there, this film isn't even close to being the film fans waited twenty years to see. "Dumb and Dumber To" 10 Scale Rating: 6.0 (Decent) ...

The Good: While it wasn't as funny as the first film, there were a handful of laugh-out-loud moments. Carrey and Daniels seamlessly return to the characters that made famous 20 years ago without skipping a beat. The supporting cast were up to the task as a "group straight-man" of sorts for the leads. If you're a fan of the first film, you will find some humor in this offering and will enjoy the nods to the previous installment.

The Bad: However, if you're not a fan of the first film then you will absolutely hate this one. Comedy has changed quite a bit in the last two decades and they tried too hard to push the envelope to keep up here. It just felt forced at times and far too many of the gags fell flat. On top of that, the film tried to rely too much on gross-out humor which felt unnecessary. While I was initially fine with the idea of a sequel (even this many years down the road), the film itself pretty much changed my mind.

The film is about are two main character's Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne back together and are on a new quest: to track down a long-lost child in the hopes of gaining a kidney.

It's be over years since the first movie came out and the critics may have hated the first movie, but for most people it was hilarious and that movie today as been know as the funniest movie that ever body seen. Now we got the squeal and let me give you the good news and the bad news. The Good News: It isn't as god awful as I thought it was going to be. The Bad News: It isn't as good or as funny as the first movie.

Jim Carry and Jeff Daniels return to their roles and it's like their never left, because both of them did great in the movie. Some of the jokes in the movie were pretty funny and this movie actually made me laugh at a fart joke and normally I hate fart jokes, because I think it's lazy and bad taste to comedy, but in this movie it made me laugh because of the two main stars of the movie pulled it off.

The movie does have some jokes in the movie that came off unfunny and kind of lazy and the Harry's daughter in the movie wasn't all that interesting or anything special, she was just there to carry the plot a long.

Overall Dumb and Dumber To isn't a terrible movie as I thought it was going to be, but they are some jokes in this movie that didn't really work for me and they is a lot of scenes that didn't mash well.
