This Dragonball Z movie is a HUGE HUGE improvement over the last movie "Battle of Gods" that I watched in Japanese and it was disappointing. So this one threw it out like a used paper towel.

Story
The story is linear in which it's not the best when it comes to anime, but at least this movie made it fun since it was actually really funny and also valuable to its points of the past since in this case, it has been a long time since we get to see a Dragonball Z episode or movie that was related to Frieza or a Dragonball related content in this matter and it has been executed well and was well thoughtout.

Animation
The Animation style is astounding and well polished to say the least and the 3D effects were good, just a little par on Attack On Titan if you really want to compare, but hey it's pretty close. The aura, the energy, the explosions, and its details are also spot on. Great Job on its smoothness on the battle scenes effects.

Sound
The sounds and its soundtrack is good. Some are good and some are okay. The stereo are only booming for its epicness just like the Series always was and always is.

Presentation
The way it presented was a fine line. The characters are the same and it follows up to what I can imagine after the battle of Majin Buu. The new forms looks awesome and its morals to each characters just hits the bullseye to what I already established to who the fighters are. All I can say is that Dragonball Z Reserrection of F is a fantastic follow-up of the disappointing " Battle of Gods" and in the future, I can theorize that there can possibly be more movies that are featuring the good ol' characters we remembered like Cell, the Androids, Cooler, or Broly with Super Sayian God form maybe.

Just watch the movie, it's great

I saw it in a packed theatre with no empty seats. Everyone were dressed up as their favourite Dragon Ball characters. I had my Dragon Ball Z t-shirt on, and was pumped. I was not disappointed with what I got.

Its well written, has hilarious dialogue, a good story, a great villain, everything about this movie is good. There were a few weak points, but overall I didn't have myself looking at my watch once throughout the whole movie. I'll give it an eight for a great day out at the movies. Worth the price of admission if you are one of the lucky people who get to see it in theatres.

It's much more action packed, marks the return of some classic characters, and adds even more powered up forms that fans can obsess over.

Yes, it's another chapter that will get fans even more excited for the future of this series. Akira Toriyama shows he's interested in exploring new themes with his stories. There are a few moments where the writing has us believe he might actually be interested in having his characters actually learn something from battles outside of just how much stronger they can get.

The missing humor element from the previous movie is a bit disappointing, but it more than makes up for it by being action packed. Fights look great and there are more of them this time around. There's plenty of flash and fan favorite moves on display. Side-characters like Krillin and Gohan actually make themselves useful for once.

It really is a step up from the already great Battle of Gods in just about every way. The inclusion of Beerus here seems to only serve the purpose of reminding us that this is a sequel. Personally I hope they don't continue to have him around. His personality just consists of him threatening to destroy the earth in order to manipulate our heroes. It makes him unbearable. I hope he gets ditched into the realm of forgotten DBZ characters.

It's an all around blast for DBZ fans. Those unfamiliar with the material will probably be lost, but those of us who have followed the stories of this series are in for a treat. With fantastic new character designs, a battle with a classic villain, and great action scenes any fan would be bereft to miss this.

I give Resurrection 'F' a 9.1/10.

It's certainly alot better than most of the other DBZ movies made but most of them are piles of garbage. My big complaint is the fact that they didn't showcase the new forms very much and there's a general lack of differentiating the "increase" in the new forms power level. Is it stronger than the SSG form from the Battle of the Gods movie? We don't exactly know that yet. The fight scenes were good as they added a bit of CGI in the midst of every major fight scene. It's to be determined still what this movie means for the future of DBZ, especially the new show that came out in the Japan recently and is finally starting to take off on its own a bit. But they seem to know what they are doing still and it's only a matter of time before they show off a new form. But I'd definitely like some gauge on their strength levels now. Expand

It's one of the most awkward Dragon Ball Z movies I've seen to date, and that's saying something since there are more than a dozen movies.

The plot is structured so terribly and does not incorporate what makes Dragon Ball Z, the action-anime that has inspired several titles that came after it. It tries to incorporate more humor to keep the audience's attention, and while a good majority brought a smile to my face, it eventually lead to nervous laughter. The animation looks great, seeing your favorite Dragon Ball characters on the big screen in action, but the small amount of CG was pretty cringe-worthy.

Which leads to why I didn't like the movie; it didn't feel like the Dragon Ball Z I knew. What I mean by that, is there was no struggle, no wall for Goku to climb with the stakes raised higher than ever before. Freeza was threatening for a very short time, until the movie decided to make his return a complete joke. The film acknowledges our two main character's flaws, but they don't really change by the end of the movie, or if they did, it wasn't executed well.

I'm sure Dragon Ball Z fans will enjoy the film for what it is, I just didn't enjoy it because of how far it departed itself from it's roots.

This thing feels more like a parody of the saga Freezer a new movie franchise
It's just a bad comedy, a TV special not a film shown at cinemas.
Poor movie, even worse than the last

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is by far the best movie after Rebirth of Fusion.
The characters were actually improved from their original DBZ personalities thus making it seem as if time had actually passed for them to mature.
Frieza returning and becoming powered up to the point of being on par with a SSJG was interesting, but the 4 months of training was a little over the top as I don't believe he could have gotten to god level in that amount of time as he was completely inferior to SSJ1 Goku.
With Goku & Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Roshi, & even Tien fighting in that battle against the Frieza Force in a new battle style, rather than invisibly fast attacks it shows them actually making the moves to fight.
If you want to watch a DB movie then watch this one because it is certifiably awesome.

This one does a good job at highlighting the flaws that Goku and Vegeta have, flaws that ultimately could spell disaster for them if gone unchecked. Other than that, It just results in the plot that quite a few other DBZ films have had - A major villain is wished back to life and is swiftly defeated. It lacks the comedy and actual storytelling that made Battle of Gods so good. Expand

I would really recommend it, though I would only recommend it to Dragon Ball fans at this point because you really need to have the back story to know what is going on, particularly to fans who saw the previous film Battle of Gods, which I must be honest, I do think is a superior film out of the two as it had a better plot and was a more fitting tribute to everything that is great about Dragon Ball. The only thing holding this one back is that it had slightly less plot and a bit of an anti-climax and less character moments which I think is down to the less experienced director, but that’s not to say it’s bad. It’s really entertaining and that’s down to it’s excellent animation, fight scenes and great dialogue, and if that’s all you need from a Dragon Ball film then I would really recommend this one to you. It’s not a perfect film, but it is a good film and my opinion probably sounds a lot more harsh than it really was. Honestly is was just great to see a Dragon Ball Film in a cinema that wasn’t Dragon Ball Evolution! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I"m liking the fact that fInally we are getting Dragonball Z films that don't end with everyone getting annihilated and Goku using the Spirit bomb.

This one has a genuinely nice story. The enemy isn't ridiculously strong like all the other movies and the heroes don't magically become stronger to beat the enemy.

The animation is good, especially as there are several points where it transitions between 2d and 3d animation which is very nice. The voice acting in the english dub is excellent also.

Definitely worth a watch if you like DBZ and didn't like Battle of the Gods or the new Super series. This is the only DBZ film I officially like.

After a few teasers excitement grew when fans heard that the latest entry would feature the return of fan-favorite and iconic villain of the series Freiza. It is only appropriate that Freiza should be the one that gets revived in this movie since he has the most history with Goku and Vegeta and is even the representation of the nightmares of series creator Akira Toriyama. Unlike “Battle of Gods” when audiences had to wait a whole year for the dub by Funimation, “Resurrection F” only had a four month gap between the Japanese release and the American release. Considering the long wait, I am pleased to see that the film will satisfy fans of the series but if they are expecting an emotional moment that matches Broly’s backstory, Goku’s first transformation into a super sayian, or Gohans rage against Cell, they won’t find it here.
The film greatly exceeds in the vocal performances. Chris Ayers gives a chilling performance (Pun definitely intended) as the titular Frieza. He is the actor who is clearly having a ball as he makes sarcastic remarks and shows of Frieza’s charm with his timing and delivery of his lines. He truly captures what makes Frieza so terrifying and so charming, his politeness and banter with the heroes. His proper mannerisms contrasts his monstrous fighting techniques brings a scary vibe to the character that only a few villains in the series could only dream to match. The returning voice actors such as Christopher Sabat and Sean Schemeal give their best performances yet in their time playing as these iconic characters. Schemeal’s talent really captures bothe the warrior likes of Goku and also his childishness and naivety. Sabat also nails his calm and strategic voice for Piccolo and his aggressive and prideful tone as Vegeta. However, Freiza is not the only charismatic opponent to Goku and friends, the other was the God of Destruction himself Lord Beeru. Beerus was the main antagonist of the previous film who was made to not only be a legitimate threat but also as a fun character. Beerus may be a god but he is just as childish as Goku. The voice for Beerus may be deep but the actor also clearly shows of the child-like whining that Beerus could have (the last film had a long fight that started over a pudding cup remember). He mostly stays on the side lines instead of joining the fray but he is still a character that you can’t keep your eyes off His banter with Whis is still part of the comical highlights of the film as it was with “Battle of Gods”. Even new-comer JAco the patrol man has his humorous moments and has a surprise history with Bulma that could hopefully be explained in future installments.
The animation really shines throughout this action-fest thriller. The characters move with such fluidity and the colors are bright and really well utilized depending on the scene, It has a unique attention to detail that each movement has their own weight to them. When someone is getting punched, you really feel like they are getting punched. Where the animation starts to falter though is where the segments when they use CGI to animate the large army of soilders and a giant creature from hell. The CGI looks so primitive that I swear that the CGI artist from the “Langoliers” got hired to work on it. Thankfully the film only uses CGI in a few short instatnces but it does stick out like a sore thumb.

One unfortunate implication that was present in the film was after a humorous scene with Goku’s best friend Krillin stopping a robbery as a cop. The scene involves fan-favorite character Android 18 who is Krillin’s wife. She offered to fight alongside the others but Krillin told her to stay and take care of their daughter even though Android 18 is marginally stronger and more powerful than Krillin. It even ends with Android 18 saying that Krillin is “hot” as he leaves her behind, giving the implied message that even if you’re a strong woman you should let the men handle the action and stay to serve and take care of the family. I am still a believer in “depth of the author” so I don’t think Toriyama intended to give this message and to show Krillin having his family’s best interests but with the implication though, it is up to interpretation. One of the biggest flaws of the film though was that it relied on a “dues-ex machine” kind of ending. After Freeza has done something so drastic that it would raise the stakes for our heroes, Whis had demonstrated his special power to undo what Freeza has done which has diminished the impact of the event. Freeza’s action could have added more drama and would push Goku into realizing his mistakes as a fighter but Whis’ powers diminish that impact.
Despite it’s flaws “Ressurection F” is a fun film that not only has a lot of action but it also has a ton of fan service. As a fan myself, it was great to see Master Roshi and Tien be on yop of things again much like the original Dragon Ball. With Toriyama’s signature comedy and imagination, “Resurrection F”is a fun ride that will satisfy long-time Dragon ball fans and it will be a nice expansion of one of the most profitable aneme’s of all time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was disappointing. I only saw this once. The movie is like your typical dbz movie lots of action with a simple plot like the show. But that's not the thing that ruined the movie. The movie was ruined by the fact they didn't let vegeta get his revenge against frieza. And the ending of goku beating frieza was a awful ending was anticlimactic and just lazy. Still I enjoyed the rest of the movie. Expand
