Another generic action/fantasy movie with some British actors from Game of Thrones or The Last Kingdom. It doesn't help much. Solid movie. Its worst mistakes are the ending, which might as well be the stiduio begging audiences to check out more movies in its catalogue. Aside from that, the movie suffers most from being a bit predictable. But the acting isSolid movie. Sometimes Hollywood likes to fool the public and sell or promote a movie in a way that looks like one thing, but it's quite another. That was the case with this movie. The public expecting a horror film encountered an adventure film; TheSometimes Hollywood likes to fool the public and sell or promote a movie in a way that looks like one thing, but it's quite another. That was the case with this movie. The public expecting a horror film encountered an adventure film; The audience waiting for a film around the true story of Vlad the Impaler (the historical character who inspired the creation of Bram Stoker's horror character) found a mixture of Vlad + Dracula, spiced with the imaginative and unrealistic traits that Hollywood likes to use. It turns out that mixing reality with fiction in such an express way usually gives bad results. It's like a salad where someone has put the wrong sauce: tastes bad and is inedible.

What this film did in practice was to appropriate the names of people who actually existed and places we could actually visit to spice up the old Dracula legend, already described and revisited by countless films. The "cooks" on duty were Gary Shore, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, three newcomers who wanted to make their first movie and decided to bet on a blockbuster Dracula. Unfortunately for the freshmen, it lacked a reason, a differential, because almost all the horror directors and writers have already done something with vampires. So, they had to create a pretext for a new movie, however stingy it might be. The millions made available by Universal, who sponsored this abortion, did the rest and provided the only good thing about this film: the special, visual and sound effects, that fill almost the entire movie to the point of stifling the script itself. But do not think that we have pity on the script! It's a terrible and predictable script that mixes up and distorts reliable historical data, copying and badly pasting it in a tangle of absurdities and clichés. The actors' performance was not great either, but we believe that the guilt wasn't the cast (headed by Luke Evans, who is far from being a rookie) but probably the lack of a skilled director, who can guide the actors accurately while, at the same time, demands a minimally decent text from the writers.

We, the Portuguese, have a popular saying that says, more or less, that the shoemaker cannot play the guitar. This means that each person must do what he knows, according to his abilities. This movie was doomed to failure from the moment they put an inexperienced team behind. If sometimes a hard-working director or writer feels trouble working with a blockbuster, what could we expect from people who have never directed a movie or written a screenplay before?… Expand

For all warm blooded Americans: this movie gets your thirst for action and suspense going. I'm not looking for a Shakespeare play or a Woody Allen flick. I'm looking for a man's movie and this one is definitely one. There is lots of action,For all warm blooded Americans: this movie gets your thirst for action and suspense going. There is lots of action, family values and loyalty (Vlad's for his family and his people) and lots of fight sequences, strong music and no dumb extended touchy feely sequences. It's a guy's movie. I can definitely say I loved it and have watched it three times already and will watch it again in the near future. I can't wait for a sequel. Hopefully Luke Evans will take on the role again. If the director or anybody with that type of power is reading this and everyone's else's comments and decide to make the second movie of Dracula Untold, they should take our suggestions to mind in case there may be an event that will occur. If our suggestion is to change things in the movie then they might be able to take our suggestion and add them to the movie, or the second movie I should say. If they do so then the second movie may come out a lot better than we would expect. Please take this comment to note if you are making a movie or acting in it, to help the movie and to make the audience proud to see the movie and feel the same type of feelings and excitement you get. Interesting version that mixes Vlad original story with the legend of Dracula. It has a superhero movie perspective. The actors are amazing and the effects are very good.

I love this movie, all that fake crap of Twilight series can go to hell, its for kids. This movie shows emotions of dracula in a perfect way.

Dracula Untold have (in my opinion) the enough essence of Dracula, a man that for love to his family and town maker's a treat with the Devil to save that what he loves.

I think a lot of people didn't like this movie simply because it clashed with their conceptions of what Dracula is.If you can forget all that's gone before you might find its a very entertaining watch.

This movie is an incredibly cast remake. Luke Evans is a home run hitter. The plot and the way that this story gives origin to the story that had been told sooooo many times is awesome.
